Nothing is Impossible

Chapter Twenty-Seven: Dungeon XIV

Atlas appeared in the same room he had left, and he found all of his teammates scattered around. They all instantly perked up when they noticed him, all running over, some rubbing sleep out of their eyes.

Lars smiled broadly at him, white teeth flashing in the muted purple light. "I knew you could make it!"

Nex smiled as well. "Two go in, only one comes out." She said in a cryptic manner.

Lars' smile faded before he forced it back. "Well, at least we didn't lose both of you, right?"

Atlas smiled wanly. "Don't worry, I avenged Jay."

Lesli looked at Atlas with a strange expression. "He wouldn't have died if you had just been faster. If you hadn't let him pull you, nothing would have happened."

Dane looked shocked. "You're blaming Atlas for Jay's actions? Jay chose his path, and he knew right where it would lead, you can't hold Atlas accountable for what Jay did to himself."

Atlas felt like a weight had lifted off his shoulders and he smiled softly. He had felt a sense of guilt for Jay's death, but Dane's reassurance had helped to relieve some of that terrible pressure.

Lesli frowned and glared at Dane. "He could have at least done SOMETHING!" She yelled, taking a menacing step towards the Hobgoblin.

"Woah, woah! Let's all calm down here, shall we?" Lars interjected, stepping between Dane and Lesli, trying to prevent any further problems.

Lesli huffed slightly before sagging. "I just don't know what to do with him gone Lars." She said softly, but Atlas's keen hearing could still make out what she said, as everyone else in the room probably did.

Lars softened a little. "I know, but we will have to carry on, this world is much harder than our Earth was."

Dane laughed aloud. "This planet is much better than my old one. In Grechelond, Goblins died by the droves of every Light-Cycle, and surviving for more than five Sun-Cycles was considered a feat unlike any other. I myself am only 3 and a half Sun-Cycles old, or, as I believe you humans call them, years. Here? Even the few goblins I have met are old and strong, nothing like my young and weak kin back home. We didn't have the system, and it has impacted my kind greatly. Here Goblins can flourish, where before, we could only perish." Dane said, waxing philosophical.

There was a shocked silence for a few seconds before Nex spoke up.

"My home world is Ortus, and I lived in Alfheim. We had the system, but it was very different, and I even believe that the system of Ortus and the system of Limit are two very different things, and I don't think they have any impact on each other. There the maximum level was 100, but it was very difficult to reach, and the strongest person I knew was only level 53. I was only 16 when I got pulled here, and so I didn't have access to the system, which unlocked at the age of 18. I am currently 26, having lived here in Limit for 8 years. I have been doing doctor work until I upgraded to tier two and realized that I could use my knowledge of healing for life magic. I chose Super Easy tutorial, which is why it took me so long to tier up for the first time. Since then, however, I have grown much stronger and have developed fully in the way's I wanted to. I don't know if this planet is any better than my old one, but they are very similar in that they both have a system, so I would say that my old one is better, simply because we had more power over our actions, instead of here where the system is so much more oppressive."

Atlas decided to speak up as well. "Back on Earth, we had no systems, no magic, only humans and technology. Our lives were pretty comfortable, and we didn't have to fight much, if ever, only working our jobs day in and day out. It was monotonous, but it was comfortable at the very least."

Lars nodded. "I agree with Atlas, though there was a bit more variety that he didn't mention. There were three classes of people, and if you weren't in the top class, you weren't significant to the world as a whole. You may be significant to a small group of people, but overall? Barely a speck of sand in a large desert."

Lesli looked appalled. "It wasn't that bad! You just needed to cherish the little moments in life, and then suddenly everything became that much more fun."

Lars nodded. "I do agree, it wasn't all bad, but I like it here much more. Here, everyone can become something, just some people start with some advantages. A lowly peasant can become an emperor, and a farmer can become a powerful warrior. Not everyone will of course, but at least the path is available."

Atlas brushed off his pants stretching lightly. "Well, should we all set off now?"

Lars nodded, picking up his shield. "Yes, let's all get a move on."

They all packed up their meager belongings, putting them in Nex's bag of holding, which she had apparently had this whole time, but had never needed to use it before now. Or at least, she hadn't used it this dungeon run, from the looks of it, her having it was normal and not at all out of the ordinary.

They set off deeper into the dungeon, having to fight 3 more groups of kobolds on the way deeper into the labyrinth. They were both easier and harder to face. They were harder because they had one less person, but they were also easier because of all of Atlas level ups and higher tier. He cut through the kobolds like wet butter, and there was very little they could do to stop his scythe.

After an hour or so of walking and fighting, they emerged into a large room. In the middle of the room was a large throne, with a giant minotaur resting upon it. There was a psionic barrier around him, and it radiated intense energy. There were four beams feeding into it, each from an obelisk in each corner of the room. Each obelisk was guarded by 6 kobolds, and none of them were kobolds that they had faced before. Atlas used All Seeing Eye on the minotaur and its minions.

First was the burly minotaur, a mountain of muscles and purple runes, with one glowing horn and another one that was broken, with psionic magic filling in the places where the bone was missing, creating an ethereal sight to behold.

The final three kobolds were sleek black kobolds that seemed to fuzz up when you looked at them, making it hard to stare directly at them. They each had a glowing pink eye in the center of their foreheads, staring forward ominously.

Atlas looked at his teammates. This was going to be far harder than they imagined. And what was up with the mindhorn being the final boss? Wasn't this only the second floor?
