Nothing is Impossible

Chapter Twenty-Eight: Final Boss II

Lars looked at Atlas with fear and Atlas crouched down, whispering as quietly as he could. "You guys all try to recover as much as you can and prepare to fight. I'll hold him off for as long as I can."

You think you can hold me off alone? I can't tell if you're brave or a fool. Maybe both, they do go hand and hand.

Atlas cursed softly before standing up fully, pushing Lars behind him. Using Magic Form, he began to create his most powerful spell yet. He combined all four basic aspects of the elements and condensed them into the smallest ball he could, pumping all of his mana into the spell. When it was no larger than his thumb nail, he spoke. "Destroy Everything."

The ball thinned becoming a small spike before shooting forward, glittering with all the colors of the rainbow. It became a laser, blasting at the Minotaur, all of its fury directly at the final boss. A blindingly bright psionic shield appeared in front of the behemoth, and there was an explosion as the spike of deadly mana and the psionic shield collided. The explosion caused fire and smoke to appear all around the minotaur, obscuring it from view. Atlas didn't give it time to retaliate however, and he used Hyper Jump to get right up to the Mindhorn, with Strength Form activated.

The Minotaur surged out of the smoke, punched a brutal haymaker at Atlas's face, but Atlas managed to slip to the side, kicking out with his leg and pushing the Minotaur away. Atlas failed to do much damage with the kick, but it did send the Minotaur sprawling into the ground. Atlas noticed that its horn was glowing brighter than it had been when he and his party had entered the room.

Atlas didn't know if it was going stronger, or if it had just been less noticeable when it was in the psionic barrier, but Atlas wasn't going to waste time thinking about it.

The Minotaur lowered its head, charging him, but Atlas merely smiled and used Defence Form, his armor becoming bulky and powerful. The Minotaur rammed into him, and Atlas stumbled back, but the Minotaur received the brunt of his own attack. Two spectral horns appeared in front of him, both of them ramming at the Minotaur. It shook its head, fighting the copies of its horns, but it lost valuable time while doing so, time that Atlas took advantage of.

His scythe came down at the Minotaurs exposed neck, air screaming at its passing.

The Minotaur bucked, and its horns hit Atlas scythe and sent sparks flying, causing Atlas to stumble backwards. The Minotaur launched at Atlas, but Atlas Hyper Stepped away, shifting to Speed Form and using his spectral wings to launch into the sky, hovering until he was only inches from the high ceiling, almost 30 feet in the air. The Minotaur grunted, turning to face Atlas's party, and Atlas cursed. He had forgotten he wasn't fighting alone, but protecting his team while they prepared.

Using Hyper Jump, he appeared in front of the Minotaur, back in the bulky version of his armor. The Minotaur skidded to a halt before he slammed into Atlas, remembering what had happened last time. Atlas lashed out with his scythe, but the Minotaur swayed back, reaching forward and grabbing the scythe, yanking it out of Atlas's hands. Atlas unsummoned it before summoning it again, but while he did that the Minotaur grabbed him, throwing him like a boulder at Atlas's team.

In the air, Atlas switched forms, becoming sleeker and growing spectral wings, which he used to soar out of the way, narrowly avoiding hitting Nex in the back of the head.

Twisting around, he launched himself back at the Minotaur, noticing with not a small amount of relief that it looked like they were all healing up well. Lars especially looked a lot better than he had at the beginning of his fight. Nex must have found out a way to heal all of them.

His scythe was in his right hand, and he brought it down with a violent turn of his wrist using Strength Form in the same moment. The Minotaur slashed its horns, deflecting the scythe, but Atlas was ready, spinning the scythe around his body and lashing out with his left hand, which now held the black scythe.

It ripped into the Minotaurs side, sending blood spraying. The Minotaur roared in pain before punching Atlas square in the face, forcing him to let go of his scythe as he was sent flying. He pushed himself off the ground, only to find the Minotaur crashing down on him, its cracked horn pulsing with purple light.

Atlas grabbed the Minotaur by the horns, using all of his strength to throw it backwards. It worked, and the Minotaur was sent crashing into the far wall.

Atlas Hyper Jumped over, ripping the scythe from the Minotaurs side and slashing again.

The Minotaur raised a meaty hand, and the psionic barrier returned, and Atlas's scythe rebounded off the barrier, causing him to stumble back. The Minotaur lunged forward, gripping Atlas by the collar and throwing him straight up.

Atlas slammed into the ceiling crying out in pain as he fell. He switched to Recovery Form and hovered in place, glaring down at the Minotaur. The Minotaur gave a thin lipped smirk, and Atlas watched as more psionic energy entered its Mindhorn.

Once all of Atlas's wounds had healed, he shifted forms again, strength welling in his body as he fell down, scythe under his foot like an anchor as he fell onto the Minotaur. It flung its head, horns, sending the man flying once more. Atlas used Speed Form to fly down like a meteor, far faster than he had the first time.

The Minotaur bucked once more but Atlas stopped just outside the range of its horn suddenly before lunging downwards, slamming the scythe into the Minotaur's chest, sinking more than three inches into its chest. The Minotaur grunted in pain before lashing out with his fist, but Atlas weaved to the side and chopped at its neck.

The Minotaur ducked, and they began a deadly dance where they both struck out with powerful blows, only for the other to barely dodge the attack and retaliate. This dance lasted almost 5 minutes, before the Minotaur suddenly blinked as its horn grew far brighter, making it slow just enough for Atlas to score a deep cut along its back, making it spin on its hooves and lash out with its hand.

Atlas ducked easily and kicked out with the heel of his foot, hitting the hoof of the beast and causing it to trip and fall over. He pounced, sinking his scythe deep into the leg of the Minotaur, completely cutting through it, until it hit the monster's bone and cracking it, but not fully breaking it.

The Minotaur let out an anguished scream as psionic power gathered around it, forming a spear and launching itself at Atlas. Atlas jumped away, but the spear seemed to lock onto him, following after him. He slashed at it with his scythe, breaking it easily. It was very brittle, but Atlas was sure if it had hit him, it would have done quite a bit of damage.

He turned around and looked at the Minotaur, who had dragged itself to its hooves and looked at Atlas with pure hate in his eyes. Its horn was blinding, and waves of psionic energy were wafting off of it.

You sure are annoying. Do you know how difficult it is to fight and gather mana for a spell at the same time? Luckily, it's all over, I have toiled much for this spell, and it's not only Y ranked, but transcendent rarity. Your time has come.

Atlas's eyes widened. So that's what it had been doing! It had been gathering a spell this entire time. Atlas had been wondering why this fight had been easier than he had expected. It was definitely harder than the fight with Epharion, but nowhere near as difficult as the fight with Nightmare Atlas.

He charged the Minotaur, but a barrier appeared in front of him, forcing him to run around it, which wasted a precious second.

In that second, the Minotaur unleashed its spell, and Atlas felt his eyelids begin to droop, his body losing all of its strength as he fell into a deep sleep, collapsing to the ground.

"Atlas!" Lars yelled out, rushing over and grabbing Atlas's sleeping form.

The Minotaur chuckled, its voice ringing in all of their minds.

That spell can't be resisted, reflected and it always lasts at least 5 minutes, but can last up to 8 hours. This fight has been won, and there is nothing any of you can do.

Lars grit his teeth, standing up and glaring at the boss. "If you think we are going to die that easily, you are very misinformed. We are going to kill you as easily as a-"

Lars paused, looking down at Atlas, who stood up in a single mechanical motion.

He grinned widely. "Atlas! I knew you could shrug it off, just like-"

He was interrupted by a scythe cutting off his head in a single clean motion. Atlas didn't even glance down, his eyes still closed.

Sleeping Death Activated.
