Chapter Thirty-Seven: First Boss of Atherome II
Atlas left the city feeling like a new man, his exotic suit drawing the attention of many. Once he passed the guards, he took a deep breath before changing to Onslaught Form. He blasted off, ripping up grass as he literally tore towards the forest, leaving a trail of flying dirt and grass in his wake.
The guards just looked on as Atlas faded from view almost instantly.
The younger guard looked at the veteran and just laughed. "Remember when you said I was better off than him?"
The older man grumbled. "I might have been… exaggerating a little."
Scoffing, the younger man just looked away, resting his head against the portcullis. "I wish I could be that strong." He whispered under his breath, looking at the line of dirt that showed where Atlas had gone.
Atlas reached the spot where he had previously fought against the phase wolfman and looked around, spotting claw markings against one tree and other signs of where the fight had taken place, but now it was all overgrown after more than a month of time to repair the damages caused.
He knelt down to the ground and looked around carefully, trying to notice any creatures nearby. When he didn't see anything, he continued forward, looking back and forth through the thick trees.
He ran across a couple lower leveled monsters that he simply walked past, and they cowered away from him, recognizing him for the predator he was. He eventually noticed some claw markings on a nearby tree, and, going over to investigate, he realized that this was definitely the Wolfman's work.
He spun around slowly, looking in every direction as he got a view of where the Wolfman had made its mark on its territory. There were more claw marks, some grass that was ripped out, the smell of urine, and finally, some fur caught on a branch.
He heard a small noise behind him and spun around, his pin growing and transforming into a spear as he pointed it at the Wolfman, who now stood before him.
Atlas lunged forward, not letting the Wolfman use its invisibility and stabbed forward violently, becoming a blur of motion.
The Wolfman's eyes widened ever so slightly as it phased through Atlas's spear, slashing at Atlas's face with its razor sharp claws. Atlas was ready and ducked out of the way, swinging the bottom of his staff up at the Wolfman's face, connecting in a spray of sparks as the Wolfman used its claws to block, only to be sent flying backwards because of Atlas's bloated strength.
Atlas didn't let up on the advantage, leaping forward and stabbing forward in a feint before twisting around and stabbing again, forcing the Wolfman to phase but just as the phase time ended, Atlas's actual attack hit, but the Wolfman managed to duck out of the way, only getting a glancing blow on its arm.
A glancing blow that just about ripped its arm off.
The Wolfman howled in pain before phasing and leaping backwards, completely out of Atlas's range. It then said something in a grunting language before its arm magically healed. It definitely wasn't just lifeforce, as green mana hovered around the wound before it repaired itself back together.
Atlas jumped forward again, stabbing 4 times in quick succession. The Wolfman managed to phase through each of them before retaliation, knocking Atlas's spear upwards and slashing out.
Atlas quickly changed his spear to a halberd before slashing down as he backpedaled quickly, slamming into the Wolfman's outstretched paw and cutting it down to a bleeding stump.
The Wolfman jumped backwards and healed again before dashing back into the fray. They fought for a few more moments, with Atlas dealing damage before the Wolfman just shrugged it off.
Atlas was losing stamina faster than his heightened regeneration could give him. If there was one bad thing about his Voidborn Archdragon skill, it was that it was a stamina hog, and he would already have been sucked dry if not for his Void Gloves, which gave him 5,000 stamina every time he dealt damage to the Wolfman.
Atlas tried and failed to attack the Wolfman while it was healing, but found it basically impossible to do so. It was just too good at timing its phases and avoided him every time he beat it.
Atlas decided to take a gamble, and quickly changed his halberd to a javelin, throwing with all the force he could muster at the Wolfman, sprinting right after it.
The Wolfman phased through the javelin, and it kept soaring until colliding with a nearby tree. But in its focus to dodge the projectile, it didn't notice the human trailing after it, and Atlas's gloved and armored fist connected solidly with its face, sending it flying straight into the tree with the javelin that was stuck in it. It slammed into the butt of the javelin and cried in pain, only for Atlas's fist to slam into its face again, sending it straight back down into the javelin.
Atlas quickly grabbed the javelin and stabbed it, going straight through the Wolfman's eye, and directly into its brain, killing it. Atlas started to fall, but then he noticed the same green mana appearing around the Wolfman that had previously. His eyes widened as he scrambled back up, looking around. He noticed a smaller Wolfman hiding in a tree nearby, an emerald green staff in its paws. Atlas scanned it.
Wolfman Shaman: Rargon
Tier: 5 Level: 120 Boss

Atlas looked down at the Wolfman at his feet.
Phase Wolfman: Lycore (Reviving)
Tier:5 Level: 14 Miniboss
Atlas threw his javelin at the Shaman without hesitation, but it raised its paw, creating a green energy shield that caused the javelin to bounce off, only cracking it slightly. The Shaman looked surprised but kept feeding energy into the Wolfman next to Atlas.
Atas unsummoned his staff and resummoned it, bringing it back to him before changing it to a spear and stabbing down into the Wolfman, but it went through it as though it was an illusion.
Growling, he turned to the Shaman and used the ace up his sleeve, Pause Time. He pumped 34,000 mana into it, enough for 10 seconds of slowed time.
He shot forward as the world around him warped, becoming fuzzy and slow, he ran up the tree and stabbed the Shaman in the chest, pushing it off the tree with him close behind, the Shaman fell slowly, but Atlas was still normal speed, so he stood on the Shamans chest and stabbed it in the lungs, heart and eyes, as many times as he could before time sped up and they slammed into the ground, Atlas's spear going through its eye socket one last time.
Atlas didn't let up, turning his spear into a halberd and lopping off the Shaman's head before running over to the Phase Wolfman and doing the same before collapsing to the ground, breathing heavily.
Level Up! X65
Atlas felt an overwhelming power surge through his veins, threatening to explode as the power seeped into his very bones, making him denser, stronger, faster and more efficient with his energy.
Atlas checked his stats and choked.

Constitution: 6,254

He had gained a thousand points in both Constitution and Endurance, and almost two thousand in Strength and Dexterity. He also had over two thousand free points lying around.
He added a thousand points to both Strength and Dexterity and added the extra 85 points to Dexterity, making his final point total look like this.
Stats:
Endurance: 6,244
Constitution: 6,254
Strength: 8,024
Dexterity: 8,009

He laughed, feeling giddy. He had added almost 50% to his strength and dexterity.
He looked over the havoc that he had caused while fighting the monsters and winced, feeling sorry for all the broken trees and torn up grass.
He turned around and ran back to the town, albeit far slower than when he had left, trying not to rip out any more grass than he already had.

A gaunt man paced in a hidden room, his eyes clouded and bloodshot. As he continued to wear a path on the floor, a woman with a hood appeared in the room.
The man spun and faced her, forcing a smile, though it looked more like a grimace. "Finally! Where have you been? Did you find out what happened to that hobo?" He asked in a nervous rush.
The woman pulled back her hood, revealing her midnight black hair and shining green eyes. "Calm down. I was running late because the 'hobo', as you called him, went and fought a miniboss, and I wanted to see how he would fare."
The man paused, looking at her. "And? What did you think? Also, why didn't you just nab him while you were at it?"
The woman shook her head. "I couldn't, there was someone else following him, but I didn't know who it was or how strong they were, so I couldn't do anything. The man killed the miniboss and a boss that appeared nearby, both within an hour, and all by himself. He was definitely a speed focused fighter, and he used a spear that could become a javelin, staff, and a halberd."
"What types were the miniboss and later boss?" The man asked her curiously, no longer in a panic driven state.
The woman thought for a second. "The miniboss was a speedster with a phase ability, and the boss was a healer with a shield ability. I didn't get to see more of the boss because the man took it out very quickly, it took maybe 5 seconds for him to notice and kill it. He has a skill that lets him become ridiculously fast for one second."
The man frowned. "Will that be a problem when we attempt to capture him?"
The woman shook her head. "No, it looked like it was his ultimate. It can't be used very often and it has a very short duration as it is. He does have some weird armor with wings, but he never used them so I don't know the capabilities of the armor."
"What level should the team be that we send out. Is a level 100 tier 5 going to cut it?"
The woman sighed, realizing she had failed to mention something. "Something I forgot to tell you, but the man is now tier 5, and so were the miniboss and boss that he killed."
The man froze, staring at the woman. "In just a couple of months? How?"
The woman shrugged. "I have no idea, but you're going to need some people above tier 6 if you want to take him without him managing to kill anyone. His ultimate is really dangerous for someone at his level."
The man looked slightly annoyed. "I don't have very many people at that tier, are you free to go after him?"
"No, I am on the case with the prince."
The man waved her off. "Right, right. Well, could you ask Joy to come see me? I have some plans I need to go over with him."
