Chapter 208: Bite
"Digging? A trivial task for one such as I," Fluffy declared with supreme arrogance. "Watch how a master does it."
"No, you watch me!" Rage Monkey shot back, and within seconds, the two of them had descended into a ridiculous digging contest, bones flying, roars echoing, and more dust in the air than should be legal.
Damien sighed faintly.
"They're enjoying themselves," Blackie commented softly from behind him.
"Let them," Damien murmured.
Within minutes, much faster than expected, the ground gave way with a soft rumble. A deep hollow emerged where the two had been digging, ten meters down as the system had instructed.
And there, nestled beneath centuries of bones and dust, untouched by time or corruption, was a weapon unlike any other.
It was an ornate spear, shimmering gently with silvery runes. Its blade was jagged yet elegant, pulsing with an aura of sharp, vibrant energy.
Despite countless years, the spear looked pristine, untouched by the sands of time or corrosion.
"Remarkable," Hei Tian breathed softly, clearly impressed.
Damien examined its attributes carefully, eyes widening as the system provided the information directly to his mind:
[Item: Spear of Eternal Storm]
[Grade: Legendary]
[Attributes: Infused with powerful lightning and wind energies; capable of unleashing devastating storms with a single strike. Grants enhanced speed and agility to its wielder. Previously belonged to an ancient lightning drake champion.]
[Durability: Perfect, undamaged]
Fluffy laughed appreciatively, eyeing the spear with unabashed envy. "How did you do it, Master?! This is a find. An epic one! Even in the Cosmic Battlefield, such pristine legendary weapons are extremely rare."
Damien nodded, stepping down into the small crater made by the two big dumbos and reached toward the spear cautiously.
The moment his fingers brushed its hilt, he felt a rush of electricity surge through him, brief, powerful, exhilarating. He lifted the spear effortlessly, twirling it experimentally.
"This will do nicely," Damien said quietly, voice tinged with satisfaction.
His first weapon within the Super Soldier Basic Training Program was the spear, and he had fond memories of using it.
Hei Tian smiled approvingly. "A good omen, Lord Damien. Perhaps fortune favors us today."
Suddenly, Blackie's voice cut sharply through the optimism. "Company!"
All eyes snapped up. From behind surrounding dunes emerged several dragon contingents.
The red and green dragons approached cautiously from opposite sides, eyes narrowed in suspicion.
"It seems that the red and greens are very suspicious towards us." Damien murmured softly, gripping the legendary weapon firmly. "They even followed us."
Fluffy grinned savagely, readying his blade with clear eagerness. Rage Monkey spun his Emberfang Rod, flames igniting brilliantly. Blackie stood poised, daggers gleaming with frost.
Damien stepped forward confidently, his gaze unwavering.
"We found it first," he called firmly, voice echoing across the sands. "Leave, and I promise no conflict."
The opposing dragons exchanged glances, then drew their weapons, tension erupting instantly.
Damien sighed, tightening his grip, energy crackling gently around his new spear.
"So be it," he said quietly, voice carrying clearly over the dunes. "If you insist, let's begin."
And in that moment, beneath the blood-red sky and among endless bones of forgotten wars, battle erupted once more.
The sky darkened as the 12 red dragons and 12 green dragons descended in coordinated fury, wings splitting clouds and magic coiling in the air like storm serpents. Their roars shook the bones of the mountain. And their leader, a crimson-scaled monster with eyes like burning rubies, sneered down at Damien.
"Hand over the Treasure Spear, human," he thundered, "or we will incinerate your bones and feast on the ashes."
Beside him, the green-scaled matriarch hissed, her voice like poisoned wind, "Even your black dragon general cannot save you. Submit, or be erased."
Damien didn't flinch. He stared up at them with casual indifference. Then he stretched a hand behind him.
Fluffy trotted forward, eyes gleaming with a manic grin.
"Let me handle them!" he bellowed with glee. "I haven't had the chance to fully stretch in a long time!"
Without warning, Fluffy's body pulsed.
A wave of distortion tore through the air, bending light and sound as space itself screamed. His adorable fox-like shape snapped and twisted. Bones cracked like thunder. Flesh warped in brutal spasms. Fur exploded outward like mana-fed flames. And from the center of that infernal burst, a mountain-sized monstrosity emerged.
A nine-tailed death chimera.
His body shimmered with molten black fur veined with lightning. Serrated horns curled upward like demonic towers. Every tail writhed like a living serpent, each one flickering with unstable runes of entropy. His eyes pulsed with cataclysmic madness—the kind of madness that made lesser beasts drop dead on instinct alone.
General Hei Tian instinctively took a step back.
The red and green dragons froze.
Even the wind forgot to blow.
Then—
"WHAT IS THAT THING?!"
"IS THAT A BEAST OR A DEMON?!"
The moment of hesitation broke like glass.
The dragons attacked.
Flames surged like tidal waves. Venom blasted from open maws. Sonic booms tore the sky. Six dragons lunged first, fanning out like a deadly flower of claws and elemental death. Mana sigils ignited behind them, ancient ones, built for large-scale slaughter. Their synchronization was perfect. Their formation had won wars.
And Fluffy was grinning.
He didn't block. He dove straight into it.
BOOOOOM!
The first impact ruptured the clouds. A red dragon slammed into Fluffy's chest, but instead of crashing him back, it bounced. Fluffy had twisted his body mid-air and coiled a tail around the dragon's neck. He spun, once, twice, like a psychotic shot putter, and flung the dragon straight into the path of a green dragon charging up a toxic meteor.
The meteor detonated on impact.
Two dragons screamed as their limbs twisted in opposite directions.
"YAAAAY!" Fluffy cackled, flipping backwards through the shockwave.
Another dragon roared behind him. A green one. She dove like a bullet, jaws wide open, trying to clamp onto Fluffy's throat.
He let her.
For one glorious second, she thought she'd won.
Then Fluffy's neck twisted at a completely unnatural angle, his jaws opening vertically, revealing a second maw inside the first.
He bit her face off.
