Episode 154 - "White Blood" Final Chapter (2)
The eyes of all the cells in the body turned to the sky.
The staff at the trading city hotel and the cells living in the small village Ella had left all craned their necks to look at the image floating in the sky.
“What, what is that?”
“Peggy. You can see that too, right?”
The source of the image was the narrator.
The screen simultaneously projected onto the skies of the numerous worlds that make up the body was at first just a black screen, but occasionally something seemed to be wriggling inside it.
And then a blue light flickered briefly at its center before going out.
“Oh? That silhouette just now was definitely Mr. Do-jin!”
Ella said, having seen the silhouette that appeared briefly as it flickered.
And then as the blue light flickered again, it clearly showed the image of Do-jin swimming underwater and the silhouette of a giant monster fiercely chasing after him.
At that moment, Do-jin was continually descending into the deeper sea, unaware that his image was being broadcast live throughout the body.
Brrrrr─.
The monster’s tentacles could be seen pushing through the water violently as they approached.
Clang─.
He barely blocked it with his sword, but his movements were sluggish underwater, making it a close call.
The monster’s tentacles seemed to have incredible hardness, as not even a scratch was left when he blocked them with the sharp point of his sword.
At that moment, the blue jewel embedded in the sword vibrated more fiercely, pulling Do-jin’s body further down.
‘Damn, how far down are we going? I’m starting to run out of breath.’
Then Do-jin remembered the pouch attached to his waist.
It was the spending money pouch that Akhenaton had given him.
He had used one to pay for the destroyed hotel, and the remaining one was still hanging at his waist.
‘Right. This is oxygen, for now.’
Do-jin took out an oxygen bead from the pouch at his waist and put it in his mouth.
‘Phew, now I feel like I can survive.’
Meanwhile, as if he had reached the bottom of the tear duct, something solid touched his feet.
Whether his eyes were closed or open, it was pitch black and he couldn’t see anything, but Do-jin closed his eyes and concentrated, searching for places where the energy wavelength was different.
‘There it is.’
Watching the screen, Yeon-woo shuddered as he recalled the time of filming.
They had filmed in a 3-meter deep water tank, and even though Yeon-woo had mastered combat swimming, the physical exertion was extraordinary.
‘Still, looking at the edited version, it certainly looks convincing.’
It was edited to be much faster than the actual speed of descending while holding onto the rail underwater during filming, giving the impression of really reaching the deep sea.
“Yeon-woo really struggled a lot filming that scene.”
Director Hwang Min-kwon, seeing Yeon-woo shudder, smiled sheepishly with a thumbs up, looking slightly apologetic.
“Hyung. How did you film that?”
Dong-ha, who had been watching with his mouth open, asked Yeon-woo.
Apparently, in the latter part, there were many scenes featuring only Yeon-woo as the main character, which were filmed in a different location from the other members.
“…Well, I just stayed still in a half-dazed state, and they pulled me down and up in the water, filming as they went.”
Hearing Yeon-woo’s words, Director Hwang Min-kwon seemed to flinch and turned his head to look into the distance.
While the cast members were chatting, on the screen, Jung Do-jin finally found the white jewel at the bottom, and at last, the black sword combined with the blue stone, purple stone, and white stone.
Holding the sword that emitted light of various colors in multiple streams, Do-jin looked up.
He aimed his sword at the macrophage cluster that had persistently chased him this far, and strongly kicked off from the bottom of the tear duct to rise.
And all the cells in the body were vividly watching this scene.
Even just by looking at their appearances, it was instantly clear who was good and who was evil.
Originally, people tend to focus more on those moving from bottom to top and prefer light over darkness.
And instinctively, they root for the underdog.
A bizarre mass of tentacles descending into the dark deep sea.
Do-jin’s figure stood exactly at the opposite end of that.
Do-jin, who had leaped from the bottom, was rising upwards, emitting bright light of all natural colors.
The two met at a point, and Do-jin, infinitely small compared to the giant monster, was reminiscent of the battle between David and Goliath.
A composition moving from bottom to top.
Light opposing darkness.
In theater or film, the work of arranging all visual elements within the stage or frame according to intention is called ‘mise-en-scène’.
The mise-en-scène that satisfied everything aesthetically was a product of highly calculated psychology.
The star that alone illuminated the darkness of the deep sea instantly pierced through the darkness, bizarreness, and negativity, rising higher.
Do-jin, who had flown out of the tear duct, passed by Ella, Akhenaton, and Dipangdal on the ground, and collided with the barrier surrounding the brain.
Crack─.
It seemed to crack, but couldn’t break through, and Do-jin stopped again.
“Mister! Ugh, Mister, you’re so bright and dazzling!”
Ella couldn’t look directly at Do-jin and covered her eyes with her arms.
“Oh my god, you’ve found the last piece the sage spoke of! To think it was in such deep water.”
“Hm? How do you know that?”
In response to Do-jin’s question, Akhenaton and Ella simultaneously pointed to the sky with their fingers.
However, at the same time, white blood soldiers began pouring out from the surroundings.
“Let’s deal with these guys first!”
“Yes!”
Do-jin drew his sword and Akhenaton held up his crystal ball.
And Ella rushed forward without hesitation.
Watching this scene, Do-jin tilted his head.
“What? Why is she like that?”
“…Didn’t you know? Miss Ella is strong and fights well.”
“Indeed, there’s something different about her. Cardiac said that Ella is a young hematopoiesis.”
“…Pardon?”
Akhenaton’s eyes widened at the unexpected words.
The great mother Hematopoiesis.
“…Should I start calling Miss Ella ‘mother’ from now on?”
Meanwhile, all the cells in the body were watching the battle between light and darkness on the screen floating in the sky.
Over the past few years, there wasn’t a single cell that hadn’t harbored discontent watching the increasingly severe tyranny of the white blood army.
Therefore, everyone knew that despite their white appearance, the white blood soldiers were paradoxically darkness.
And the instinct ingrained in their very existence naturally made them realize that those now shining in the sky were fighting to save them.
Meanwhile, the small village in the thigh was in an uproar.
“Gasp! It’s, it’s Ella!”
“Right?! I’m not seeing things, am I?”
“What? That’s Ella?”
In the image filling the sky, it was clearly Ella running forward, shaking her pigtails.
The ordinary girl who had disappeared with a stranger from the small rural village had somehow become a big shot.
“What are you all doing gathered here so suspiciously! Quickly get back to the workplace!”
The village chief was angry, but it was just an empty shout.
Everyone was busy talking about Ella while looking at the sky.
And it was the same for the Deyaz Kingdom in the liver region.
“Oh! It’s the prince!”
“Hurry! We must send reinforcements!”
They hurriedly activated the hepatic vein to send up selected elite soldiers from the red blood cell kingdom.
Meanwhile, as all cells were watching with bated breath, a red blood cell doing forced labor while tied up in a labor camp on the outskirts of the brain dropped his pickaxe in surprise.
The face that briefly appeared on the screen filling the sky was definitely one he knew.
“Dipangdal…?”

John Taylor, an internal medicine specialist in England who recently opened his own hospital.
He was staring at the monitor with sweaty palms.
In the consultation room of the hospital, where the morning consultations were over and all the nurses had gone out for lunch, John Taylor was watching “White Blood” alone, postponing even his own lunch.
“Wow, the action in this episode is top-notch too.”
He had started watching the previous two episodes before leaving for work in the morning, and with only one episode left until the conclusion, he couldn’t bear the curiosity about the remaining content while seeing patients in the morning.
He usually didn’t watch non-English movies or dramas with subtitles, but “White Blood” had broken through that one-inch subtitle barrier.
His usual hobby was to watch movies or dramas and deduce the hidden meanings intended by the director.
“Three jewels and one sword. Hmm, four in total, huh.”
This series had bizarre things popping up from beginning to end, but paradoxically, none of it was disposable.
What this means is that the orbital elevator, which is a means of changing locations in the show, represents veins, and the currency exchanged by cells is oxygen. In other words, everything was related to bodily functions, and all of it was utilized in the story.
“But the sword and jewels, which are one of the core elements running through this series, are just a sword and jewels? That doesn’t make sense.”
Surely those objects must have hidden meanings too, and they must be foreshadowing for the upcoming content.
John had been pondering and deducing this since the middle of the series.
Among his speculations, there was one that he thought was quite plausible, and he was curious if it would turn out to be correct.
John started to focus on the screen again.

Crackle─.
White blood cells burst every time Do-jin moved.
However, it seemed that for every one he eliminated, two more were added.
‘It seems to be increasing more and more.’
Jung Do-jin couldn’t think of a suitable countermeasure as he watched the endless waves of white blood cells.
Based on what he felt when he collided earlier, the barrier was so powerful that he couldn’t guarantee he could break through even if he gave it his all.
‘Phew, what should I do.’
It was then.
Numerous red blood cells appeared over the ridge.
“All troops!”
Shink─.
The red blood cells each drew their swords.
Akhenaton’s head whipped around at the voice coming from afar.
“Lord Levendel!”
It was the captain of the royal guard and elite soldiers from the Deyaz Kingdom in the Liver region, Akhenaton’s hometown.
“Protect the prince and the guests! Charge!”
Woah─.
Like a tidal wave, red blood cells began to pour in from beyond the ridge.
The red blood cells and white blood cells collided.
They charged in with great momentum, but in reality, the combat power of red blood cells was just about average.
It took at least five of them to match one white blood cell.
Still, when the white blood cells on one of the four sides turned their backs, things became somewhat easier.
‘It’s still not enough to break through the protective barrier.’
However, it wasn’t just red blood cells that had come a long way across the hepatic vein.
Screech─.
A bird’s cry was heard from somewhere.
Screech─.
Flap─.
“···Pterosaurs?”
Do-jin raised his head and looked at the black dots flying in from far away.
Watching Do-jin, Akhenaton exclaimed joyfully.
“It’s the Alanines! They’ve come!”
Alanines are not a species with lower intelligence just because they don’t have a humanoid form.
They fully understood that this struggle was directly linked to their future.
The pterosaurs that had suddenly filled the sky turned into a gust of wind and began to fly towards the protective barrier, colliding with it.
Screech─!
Boom─.
With a cry, they threw their bodies and collided with the barrier.
A pterosaur with its beak broken, losing consciousness and falling towards the ground.
But another one quickly filled the empty space and collided again.
Boom boom─.
Some had their beaks half-broken, while others had their wings snapped.
Even as they fell unconscious towards the ground, they desperately flapped their wings that no longer moved, trying to fly and collide once more.
Thanks to the pterosaurs that kept flying in and sacrificing themselves, the gaps in the protective barrier began to widen little by little.
‘The protective barrier will recover soon!’
He couldn’t let their sacrifices end in vain.
Do-jin quickly leaped towards that split gap and grabbed the protective barrier with both hands, trying to widen it.
“Ugh! I’m lacking strength. They said gathering all the jewels would give tremendous power! What nonsense. Damn it!”
At that moment, a twin-tailed head came in between Do-jin’s arms as he was gripping the gap.
“I’ll help open it too!”
A tiny hand came in just below where Do-jin was holding the gap, lending its strength.
Creak─.
Grrrk─.
The gap in the protective barrier was forcibly widened.
“Now!”
Do-jin and Ella threw themselves towards the darkness beyond the protective barrier, barely making it through, and immediately the barrier was restored to its original state.
“Phew, that’s a relief.”
Having passed through the darkness, Do-jin finally felt the tension release and lay down, looking up at the sky.
“···What is this?”
Only then did he notice his own image filling the sky.
“It appeared after you were eaten by the tooth monster, mister!”
The tooth monster Ella was referring to must be that thing formed by multiple macrophages combined.
‘The narrator must have done something, judging that I was in danger.’
Now that he thought about it, it all made sense.
“Is that how the red blood cells and pterosaurs came?”
He had been worried since it had been a while since he lost contact with the narrator.
Come to think of it, his first companion wasn’t Ella.
‘The narrator has been my companion for 6 years.’
Although he had never seen the narrator’s appearance, without the narrator, he would have given up long ago or been caught and killed by the white blood cells.
Anyway, the narrator must be somewhere in the brain too.
He looked at the rocky island floating high in the sky.
“That must be the brain.”
Do-jin scratched his head while looking up at the sky.
“But how do we get up there?”
“Yeah! It’s so high!”
Ella chimed in from beside him.
Then Do-jin looked at Ella.
“Ella.”
“Yes?”
“Try throwing me.”
