Episode 153 - "White Blood" Final Chapter (1)
Jung Do-jin was floating like a ghost through the hospital.
In a world where everything was frozen, he passed through walls, searching for the pharmacy.
“UDS (Unit Dose System) cart… Here it is. Ward 83!”
Upon reaching the pharmacy, Do-jin quickly found the cart containing the medications to be administered to his younger sibling.
As Do-jin frantically searched for various therapeutic drugs, he recalled his conversation with Cardiac.
– The time you can stay outside is only about 100 heartbeats. Of course, it will feel like quite a long time in here.
– It’s almost a hundred years in here…
Cardiac smiled as he looked at Do-jin.
He thought that when he went out and came back, Ella, Akhenaton, and Dipangdal would all be gone.
Especially since he had told them to wait.
– It seems you’ve grown attached to the children. Don’t worry. When you return, only a few days will have passed.
– A few days? One second outside is almost a year in here.
– Time doesn’t work that way. Trust me and go.
– Huh? Why should I trust you?
As Do-jin recalled his conversation with Cardiac, he moved his hands busily.
Hydroxy…, cyclopho…, prednisol…
Each drug had its own usage and precautions, but there was no time to consider those now.
He gathered liquid reagents and syringes, then quickly flew back to his younger sibling’s hospital room.
‘…I only have a few seconds left!’
His hands trembled due to the urgency, but he quickly administered the drugs.
Meanwhile, Ella and her companions, who had parted ways with Do-jin in the airspace above Cardiac, were in a predicament.
They had planned to wait at the entrance of the cerebral artery as Do-jin had instructed, but that area was already under the control of the white blood cell army. Being chased, they had somehow ended up right in front of the brain.
Fortunately, they had joined forces with resistance cells fighting against the tyranny of the white blood cell army on their way up, but now even that luck seemed to be running out as they were surrounded on all sides.
Beyond the hill, they could see enemies packed so densely that it was difficult to estimate their numbers.
“Ah, is this the end now.”
“Damn it.”
Sensing that further struggle was impossible, the resistance cells hung their heads.
Just then, a brown twin-tailed figure whizzed by, causing explosions wherever it moved.
“Haah!”
As Ella thrust her fists forward, the surrounding area exploded, annihilating the white blood cells.
“Quickly, follow me!”
“Ella! This way!”
As Akhenaton called from the opposite side, Ella quickly leaped in that direction, and the resistance cells who had given up on life ran towards where Akhenaton was.
As they entered Akhenaton’s barrier, the white blood cells chasing them lost their target and stopped.
The combination of Ella and Akhenaton had been the driving force that had allowed them to survive this far.
“Hng. If only I were a bit stronger!”
Akhenaton shook his head at Ella’s words.
“You’re plenty strong as it is.”
For some unknown reason, Ella’s strength increased proportionally as they ascended to the upper world.
Even now, Ella was unbelievably strong.
The problem was that the enemy was overwhelming in numbers.
Giiing─.
At that moment, a terrible sound of calamity was heard from afar.
“Ella! Let’s take cover. It has appeared again.”
Level 6 white blood cell. Macrophage.
The worm-like creature with a gigantic body spanning tens of meters was impervious to any attack, and even when Akhenaton used his techniques, it uncannily found Ella and her companions’ location.
It was an opponent they simply couldn’t face.
It was like a natural disaster.
Just as they were in dire straits, a meteor falling at a ferocious speed appeared in the distant sky.
However, while meteors typically create bright trails as they fall through the dark night sky, this was clearly the opposite.
A black meteor leaving a pitch-black trail as it split the bright sky.
Eventually, that meteor fell in the center of the battlefield.
Kwaaang─.
Everything in the area was shattered, creating a huge crater.
Everything nearby was instantly annihilated, and the shockwave reached where Ella and her companions were.
“Kyaak!”
“Ughk!”
“Dipangdal. Grab onto me!”
As Dipangdal, the weakest among them, was about to be blown away by the shockwave, Akhenaton reached out and grabbed him.
The surviving resistance cells flattened themselves against the ground to avoid being blown away.
As the tremendous impact subsided and the dust slowly settled, a figure standing tall at the center of the crater, emitting streams of black aura, came into view.
It was Jung Do-jin.
“Ah, mister!”
“Sir! Why did you come so late! We almost died looking for love!”
“Oh, God…”
Do-jin grinned as he looked at Ella and the cells, resting a pitch-black sword on his shoulder.
“Have you been well? By the way, are these white blood cell bastards having a party here? Why are there so many?”
The aura he was emitting was, paradoxically, black.
He was literally shining in darkness.

Tick tick—.
Jake, sitting in the conference room and watching the real-time ranking compilation, kept tapping his fingers on the table nervously.
Though it was late at night, the urgently summoned staff members were pulling an all-nighter at the office.
“It’s been updated.”
The global rankings, updated every 30 minutes, appeared.
1. Alliance [-]
2. White Blood [+1]
3. C.A New Law Firm [-1]
Now it had climbed right up to their chin.
“…What are the detailed scores?”
“White Blood is still at 4,562 points. And we’re at 6,210 points, so there’s quite a gap.”
Finally feeling relieved, Jake leaned back in his chair.
It was 9 PM in Korea, but still 3 AM in California and 7 AM in Washington.
“Well, it’s Asian time now. But when the Americans wake up, we should be able to widen the gap even more.”
Meanwhile, Mike and Alex, living in Minnesota, were watching “White Blood” in their shared apartment in the early hours and got goosebumps.
“Man! Superhero landing!”
“Did you just see that? It’s lit, bro.”
“Wow, Korea makes movies this well?”
“Hey, you’ve been saying that for a month now. You’ve been saying the same thing since the first episode.”
Still feeling the thrill from Do-jin’s appearance, Alex rubbed his arms as he spoke.
“Honestly, isn’t this much more interesting than ‘Alliance’?”
“I’ve thought there was no comparison since last week.”

Cardiac controlled all the drugs that the real Do-jin had injected and administered them into Do-jin’s body.
Zap—.
As a result, the densely packed white blood cells all disappeared along Do-jin’s path of movement.
“Hmm, I can feel my inner strength diminishing each time I destroy these guys.”
Looking down at the scene from above, the contrast between the white blood cells and the pitch-black Do-jin made it look like drawing a line with an ink-soaked brush on a white canvas.
As Do-jin’s movement path formed elegant curves rather than rough straight lines, it added an Oriental aesthetic sense, creating the illusion of appreciating a piece of modern art despite clearly being a battle scene.
In fact, this was a kind of trick.
In a way, this scene could be viewed as a mass slaughter, so it was Director Jung Yohan’s magic to obtain a PG rating from the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) for all audiences.
And that strangely caught the attention of overseas viewers.
Grooar—.
“What’s this now?”
As Do-jin drew his sword upon seeing a giant earth dragon charging at him from the side, Akhenaton’s voice was heard from afar.
“That’s a Level 6 macrophage! Be careful!”
The androids that persistently chased Do-jin in Episode 1 were Level 5.
Level 6 means it’s equivalent to 10 of those androids combined.
‘This is a macrophage?’
It’s a large cell that captures and digests foreign substances that have invaded the body.
The creature wriggled towards Do-jin, opening its grotesque round mouth wide.
Do-jin mounted on top of it, plunging his sword into its body as he rode forward.
The creature writhed in apparent pain.
Like in a bullfight, Do-jin persistently stabbed his sword while riding on top of the thrashing beast until it gradually slowed down and finally went limp, ceasing all movement.
At that moment, the resistance cells that had been watching with bated breath emerged from various places.
“…We’re alive!”
“The Black God has saved us!”
Seeing the cells crawling out from who knows where they were hiding, Do-jin demanded an explanation from Akhenaton.
“…What’s with these stragglers?”
“Well… We somehow managed to increase our followers a bit.”
In the distance, Ella and Dipangdal were also trying to run towards Do-jin, whom they hadn’t seen for days.
At that moment, the ground shook violently.
Sensing an ominous presence, Do-jin quickly grabbed Akhenaton beside him and threw him towards Ella.
“Ella! Catch!”
“Huh?”
As Akhenaton, thrown by Do-jin, flew towards her, Ella caught him in bewilderment.
Kwaaak—.
Simultaneously, a massive mouth suddenly emerged from the ground.
“What in the—!”
It swallowed Do-jin in one gulp and disappeared deep into the earth.
In the pitch-black darkness, Do-jin rolled around before stabbing his sword somewhere.
The unknown creature that had swallowed Do-jin could be felt wriggling.
‘That’s right. It hurts, doesn’t it? Now die.’
Do-jin drew out the energy flowing within him and spread it through his sword.
As he did so, the vibrations grew stronger until finally, the creature opened its mouth wide and spat Do-jin out again.
Just as he was about to gasp for air after being expelled from the creature’s body, Do-jin quickly held his breath.
‘Gasp! Why is there a sea here…?’
Spat out in the middle of deep water, Do-jin looked around.
It wasn’t the stomach or the bladder, but how could there be a sea so close to the brain…
However, there was no time to think.
He could sense the creature that had swallowed and spat him out approaching again.
‘It seems like the macrophages are clustering together.’
The wriggling mass was so tangled that its form couldn’t be discerned at a glance.
Despite its bizarre shape, it swam at an incredibly fast speed.
As it stretched out its tentacle-like face to swallow Do-jin again, he raised his sword to block it.
The recoil pushed him deeper into the abyss.
At some point, he felt the sword cutting through the sea, pulling him even deeper.
‘Why is it doing this?’
There had been two instances when the jewel embedded in the sword moved on its own.
Once when it was attached to Ella’s brooch, trying to merge with the sword in outer space.
And when fighting the pterosaurs in the River region, trying to swallow the purple jewel.
‘Does that mean the last jewel is nearby?’
Do-jin recalled something.
‘I see.’
A vast sea that seemed endless no matter how far he went.
The place he arrived after falling from right in front of the brain.
The place the sage in the River region mentioned wasn’t the stomach or the bladder.
There was another place in the body that could be considered a sea.
It was the lachrymal gland.
