Night of the Clan Massacre: Leading the Uchiha to Defect from Konoha!

Chapter 54 - Return to Konoha!

It was noon.

Kaede lay lazily atop the God Tree, basking in the sunlight.

Beside him, Izumi occasionally picked up a fruit and gently fed it to his mouth.

"Life like this is so relaxing~"

After a long while, Kaede stretched lazily and sat up from Mikoto's embrace.

Mikoto blushed. Although it wasn't the first time, every time she did this, it filled her with an intense sense of shame.

She could only comfort herself in her heart: Kaede is the hope of the Uchiha—serving the clan leader is only natural!

At that moment, Kaede let out a bored sigh.

"We still have too few people under our command."

Three days had passed since the great battle.

Tsunade had been completely re-educated and was now under Kaede's guidance, training in Sage Mode.

Once she completed it, Kaede planned to give Konoha a shocking surprise!

Meanwhile, Naoto and the others encountered difficulties on their way forward.

Perhaps to delay their advance, Konoha had begun setting traps.

From the Land of Waterfalls to Konoha, there were traps nearly every few dozen meters.

Naoto's group had no choice but to slowly clear them one by one, slowing them down greatly.

This was mainly because they had too few people. With more manpower, their speed would've improved significantly.

But building up strength wasn't something that could be rushed.

Kaede had already begun expanding the ninja academy, and with the help of the God Tree, even civilians responded eagerly.

Yet even with the most elite training methods, it still took three to four years for a batch of ninja to graduate.

Fortunately, because of the reputation Kaede had established, external wars didn't affect them at all.

The Village Hidden in the Waterfall was developing steadily.

So for now, Kaede had some free time.

"Clan head!"

Just then, a clansman appeared beneath the God Tree.

He called up to him, "The Great Elder has something important to discuss with you."

"Looks like I've got something to do!" Kaede's eyes lit up.

Activating his dōjutsu, he instantly teleported to the elder's side.

Beside the elder stood a ninja from the Waterfall Village.

Upon seeing Kaede arrive, the Great Elder couldn't help but grumble:

"You sure are living carefree. You always leave me, this old man, to handle all the affairs."

Kaede chuckled, "I prefer training over admin work."

"After all, power is my foundation!"

The elder rolled his eyes. He didn't even know what to say.

Was that really training?

Kaede looked a bit awkward.

The elder had raised him from a young age, and now he was still dragged in to manage political affairs.

After thinking for a moment, Kaede said, "Why not let Tsunade handle these matters?"

"Forget it, I'll do it!" the elder immediately refused.

Although Kaede had said Tsunade could be trusted, the elder instinctively distrusted anyone from the Senju clan.

Not to mention Tsunade was still Konoha's Hokage. She might betray them at any moment.

If she wanted his trust, she'd need to crush Konoha first.

Then the elder got down to business.

"We just received word that the spies we planted in Konoha were discovered!"

"They were attacked, and only three managed to escape and hide."

"So I was thinking of sending some of Naoto's people to retrieve the defense map they secured."

Although the elder knew Kaede trusted him deeply, he always brought him in when it came to ninja deployments.

He didn't want Kaede to become like the old Kaede.

That Kaede was powerful, yet when he left Konoha, not a single person was willing to follow.

But what the elder didn't understand was the power of the God Tree!

"This storyline... seems familiar," Kaede muttered.

He closed his eyes and began reviewing the plot.

With several enhancements to his body, Kaede's memory had become extremely sharp.

He quickly found the scene that felt so familiar.

Opening his eyes again, a smile formed on his lips.

"No need to bother Naoto's group. I've got nothing to do anyway—might as well revisit the old place."

"And while I'm at it, I can see the fruits of my labor!"

With that, Kaede's figure disappeared in an instant.

The elder could only shake his head and return to the mountain of paperwork.

Inside Konoha's forest, Kaede appeared.

He had left a marked kunai here beforehand.

He quickly placed another marker and then entered Sage Mode.

His immense sensory ability enveloped the village and instantly locked onto his target.

"Looks like I arrived just in time."

With a flicker, Kaede vanished again.

At that same moment, deep within Naruto's body, the Nine-Tails suddenly opened its eyes.

"Brat, that guy is back!"

Naruto, who was wandering through the forest, stopped in his tracks.

"Huh? Who?"

The Nine-Tails grinned. "Kaede Uchiha."

Naruto's eyes widened with surprise. Kaede had finally come to find him again!

"Where is he?! I want to see him!"

The Nine-Tails closed its eyes again. "Don't rush—he's already coming to you."

In the past few days, their bond had deepened significantly.

The Nine-Tails had grown fond of Naruto, and Naruto saw him as both a friend and teacher.

Without any further response, Naruto anxiously leaned against a tree and gazed up at the sky.

"This place... doesn't it feel strange?"

These days, the villagers' coldness had made Naruto feel worse than ever.

At least before, they'd respond—even if it was with hatred.

But now, he felt invisible.

Especially today—his heart was completely shattered.

Just yesterday, a battle had occurred here. And today, a few kids came to find him.

They told him that if he could get a war trophy from this place, they would let him play with them.

Naruto, whose heart had matured quickly, immediately saw through the trick.

This place was off-limits to civilians—there might still be hidden enemies around!

There were even adults nearby, but not one of them stepped in to warn him.

Were they just hoping he'd die?!

Saddened, Naruto began to question why he was so hated.

"Hm?"

Suddenly, as he stared blankly at the sky, he noticed something shiny inside a crow's nest above.

Jumping up with precision, Naruto landed on a branch.

He picked it up—an unusually shaped kunai.

"Guess this counts as a war trophy?"

Thinking about what those kids had said, Naruto suddenly sneered.

The hatred in his heart was finally starting to overflow.

The next second...

"Little Naruto, could you give me that kunai?"

A familiar male voice echoed above him.

Naruto looked up in surprise—standing above was none other than Kaede Uchiha!

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

At that moment, three figures appeared and knelt on one knee.

"Lord Kaede!"

The three were surviving spies from the Waterfall Village.

They had been observing Naruto ever since he entered the forest.

Just as they were about to snatch the kunai from him, Kaede arrived first.

As for how they recognized him?

With Kaede now occupying the Waterfall Village and claiming a large portion of the Land of Fire, his name had spread far and wide across the ninja world. Naturally, they knew who he was.

"They're your subordinates?"

Naruto looked at Kaede in surprise.

With the Nine-Tails inside him, Naruto had already sensed the three hidden spies...

And the Konoha ANBU who thought they were hiding well.
