Nexus Ascension: My Comprehension Defies the Heaven

Chapter 157: A special connection (1)

"Impossible!" Orin exclaimed. "Impossible! Impossible! Impossible!"

"HOW CAN VARYN LOSE? That is not possible!" Orin said with a crazed yet terrified expression on his face.

"Well, it did happen." Grey said with a bored look. "Alright, let's get this over with. Hand over the city lordship of Ashspire City."

Taking over other cities by challenging city lords was possible; that was how this province, once called the Three Guards Province, came to be.

The city lord took over the ownership of the three cities and formed the Three Guards Province.

Taking over Ashspire City was essentially killing two birds with one stone; he would have four cities to his name once all of this was over.

That meant more resources for him.

He glanced at the drone slightly; he knew everyone was watching.

Since that was the case, he naturally had to put on a show.

Besides, it had been a while since he had unleashed all of his powers.

"You bastard Grey! I will kill you!" Orin's shout erupted. "And when I kill you, I'll kill that woman Valeria and everything related to her!"

As he said that, current surged and the Law of Machinery descended.

Immediately, the drone began to glitch from the effect of the law, and technological devices were jammed once again.

His entire body had been forged with the Law of Machinery.

He was now a machine itself; the only human part in his body was his head.

With the power of machine, he believed he could conquer anything.

This was the power of overconfidence and madness!

Of course, Orin believed it was the power of his Law of Machinery!

Yet he would never realize the truth.

His basic functionality as a human was already gone; he could no longer think straight, and he was nothing but a doll driven by madness.

Orin no longer cared and lunged toward Grey with great momentum, twisting the air around him.

It was either him or Grey who would come out alive.

And Orin believed that he would be the one to emerge victorious.

"I will win!" Orin shouted. "You are just a nobody! You cannot do anything to me! And once all this is over, my name will be known throughout the entire Southern Region!"

"DIE!" he screamed as he closed in on Grey and punched forward, electricity amplified by the Law of Machinery crackling with his strike.

Grey merely laughed; his eyes shone, and the next moment he was out of Orin's range, far away from him.

"Where are you aiming your fists at?" Grey said with a laugh. "I'm right here, you idiot. Becoming a machine did not make you any smarter, huh?"

"You! You!" Orin trembled at the insult like an offended child.

"You damn bastard!" he screamed.

Seeing this, Grey burst out laughing.

The majority of evolvers could be provoked simply by insulting them and wounding their pride, and they would take the bait instantly.

It was something Grey had learned with experience.

Superiority complex was common among evolvers, especially since there was a structured ranking system.

"Alright, let's deal with this fellow and get this over with." Grey mused. Today had been a long day.

So much had happened, from secret realms to the High Order attack, and he intended to sleep in his mansion back in Ashspire City once he was done with everything.

As for the headaches of managing the city, he would delegate them to Eterna.

This was something she had advised him about; she also had to take responsibility.

'Hey Eterna, you'll manage the cities right? All the taxes and stuff?' Grey asked once again just to confirm.

[Yes, I will assist you the best I can.]

'Good.'

Dealing with taxes was something Grey dreaded.

With that out of the way, Grey's halo once again emerged.

Since this was the final battle, he decided to give it his all.

He also wanted to see how powerful a peak-stage second ranker truly was.

His mind, body, and energy were all amplified into that status temporarily, and even though it was only amplification without the permanence of an actual peak second ranker, he was still as strong as a twelfth stage.

The Burst Force Talisman was very convenient.

Then, nexus energy within his compressed nexus star stirred violently; nexus energy he had refined took on a silver-purple shade and rushed out.

Buzz!

A terrifying power erupted from Grey; the energy that shot out of his body surged continuously and, within seconds, covered all corners of the Three Guards Province, no, it extended well beyond that.

The next moment, his entire body turned purple for an instant as silver lines spread across him and his Saint's Eyes blazed with nexus energy, lines tracing into his sclera.

The halo over his head shifted and turned like a mechanical device, and immediately the halo began growing.

It grew larger than before, shining with brilliant radiance emerging from his nexus energy.

The halo was now in full display.

And immediately a powerful suppression descended into the air under the reach of his nexus energy.

"What is that?" Everyone in the province was lost for words.

The city lord had transformed.

He looked completely different now.

No, he looked like a god.

"A halo above his head..." one of the civilians muttered. "Is our city lord really a god?"

What age was this? This was the age of information and technology; nobody would believe in a god easily, especially with evolvers present.

Previously they had regarded Grey with reverence because of his never-before-seen powers.

Now they had begun to believe that he might truly be a god.

"Grey..." Lia stared at the scene with slight surprise.

She felt it clearly.

The suppression, the pressure coming from his energy.

The divine energy inside her elixir field trembled and acted out of control when Grey unleashed his power.

She tried to control it and it refused to respond.

"This guy..." the immortal lady, Xia Qingyue, shook her head in slight disbelief.

Even she felt the suppression from the powerful energy Grey used.

It was not the suppression of life; no, it was suppression from a superior energy.
