New World with Four Husbands

Chapter 288: Disoriented

Heiren's heart dropped to his stomach when Coco suddenly lurched forward, her face pale and cold sweat on her skin.

"Coco?!" He called out, dropping the basket where all the sandwich was placed and gave it to Quizen, and jumped forward, his hands shooting out to touch Coco's face.

The carriage they were in had successfully entered the transportation port that will be teleporting towards the main city's and the Jire Forest's border, but as soon as the magic stones did their magic, Coco collapsed.

Coco's appearance was disheveled, her complexion was pale, her skin covered in a thin sheen of sweat— there were faint traces of tears in the corners of her eyes with her breathing labored, as if she had just run a marathon.

The pain of the initial teleportation had left her shaken, very much so, her body trembling slightly as the aftershocks of the experience washed over her.

Sweat had gathered on her forehead, her skin clammy and cold to the touch, her hair was disheveled, sticking to her skin in damp clumps, and there was this slight daze in her eyes, her gaze still slightly unfocused as she continued to recover from the disorientation of the experience.

However, her emerald irises are currently on Heiren's chocolatey ones, slightly mesmerized at how beautiful they look right now.

Staring at the second husband's eyes helped her recover faster, but she could still feel the dull ache pulsing in her temple so she still doesn't have the ability to speak— not that she wants to.

"You're okay." Heiren murmured and reached up with his sleeve, gently wiping the sweat from Coco's face, his long sleeve moving tenderly over her skin.

"Focus on me." Heiren said and continued on dabbing his sleeve on her cheek, "Good, that's good— just look at me, focus on me, okay? Just stare at me and don't make any sudden move."

His touch was gentle and soothing, pressing the fabric of his shirt as softly as he could against her skin.

Coco tried to do as she was told, but Coco closed her eyes at the touch, her body relaxing slightly as his ministrations slowly calmed her frayed nerves.

The sweat was carefully removed from her face, the fabric absorbing the moisture.

Wordlessly, Zaque leaned in, his hand reaching out to brush back the stray strands of Coco's black hair that clung to her face and he gently moved each strand away, giving Heiren access to Coco's face.

Coco flinched when she felt Zaque's fingers, but his ministrations were gentle and efficient, just like Heiren's, his actions precise and careful.

Once he had moved the hair out of the way, he leaned back, giving Heiren room to continue what he was doing while Zaque's gaze remained on Coco, his eyebrows furrowed in worry.

The atmosphere inside the carriage was tense, but it was broken when the carriage suddenly jerked to a stop, the wheels grinding against the hard ground as the vehicle came to a shuddering halt.

The mediators inside the carriage were thrown forward, their bodies jerked harshly by the sudden stop.

Heiren was caught off guard by the stop of the carriage, his body thrown forward, and to quickly stabilize himself, he unconsciously placed both of his hands beside Coco's head, each hand landing on either side of her.

His fingers curled around the edge of the seat, gripping it tightly to prevent himself from falling onto her.

His body swayed with the movement of the halted carriage for a moment and his breathing was somewhat ragged from the unexpected jolt, his eyes wide in surprise and fright as he looked down at Coco.

A few muttered hisses escaped his lips and the other mediators', the abrupt halt of the carriage causing them to stumble and grab onto the nearest surface to steady themselves.

Then, the carriage door slammed open, the sound of the door moving on its hinges filling the air.

"Coco? My master! Are you alright—"

Sinclair peered inside, his face appearing in the open doorway, the light from outside spilled into the carriage, casting a bright shadow around his face, but his features were still discernible.

He asked Coco as he looked inside, his eyes sweeping over the scene inside, taking in the disheveled occupants of the carriage.

However, he stopped speaking midway when Sinclair's red eyes suddenly landed on Coco, his expression flickered briefly, and without hesitation, he pushed the door wider, opening it fully so that he could step into the carriage.

"Coco?" Sinclair called out as he moved into the cabin, his eyes narrowed into a sharp glance, but the worry was evident on his gaze.

"She went into shock as soon as we teleported." Heiren informed Sinclair as he pushed himself off Coco and resumed wiping the sweat off her face, his movements efficient, his attention focused on the task at hand.

His gaze remained fixed on Coco's face, barely sparing a glance at the hybrid who had just entered the carriage.

"Oh." Sinclair's shoulders relaxed a little, releasing a breath he didn't know he was holding, "It must be because she's a stranger to this world's flow of magic."

"Careful." Quizen spoke up, his blue eyes narrowing into a glare, "Don't say that kind of information carelessly."

Sinclair raised an eyebrow towards the fourth husband, but nodded his head in understanding. "I understand.. But please, don't worry. Coco is my master. I won't do anything that will put her or her reputation at risk."

Quizen merely looked away from him and focused on Coco, going back to watching Heiren fuss over their wife.

Sinclair sighed. "Unfortunately, we can't stop here. We will be moving again after the other half of the group gets teleported."

"It's fine." Zaque said, his gaze still glued on Coco.

"She's still disoriented, but the next transportation port is an hour away so that will give Coco enough time to recover." Sinclair said as he slowly got off the carriage.

"We'll take care of her." Zaque assured him.
