New World with Four Husbands

Chapter 275: Thank you

"Are your eyes okay?" Lala asked Coco, her lips pulled into a pout, "You cried so hard back there. It worried me."

"I'm fine." Coco smiled as she reassured the garden fairy, "I just felt so grateful for Jacques and Renado, so grateful that I could not stop myself from crying."

"Was it because they are your friends?" Lala blinked, tilting her head towards Coco.

"Yes, and also, it was because they were so understanding and respectful of me. It was the first time in a while that I encountered someone who would want to ask me first before they could act." Coco hums, a small smile creeping to her lips.

"Well, since I got here at least. My sisters and mother would ask me first, but other than them, it was Jacques and Renaldo." She quickly added to her previous statement, making Lala feel guilty.

"Oh.." Lala mumbled, darting her eyes away from Coco.

Coco didn't pay any mind to that and instead, focused her attention on her path.

She walked through the village, and it was already late at night, the streets quiet and deserted, making her the only one who's walking down the street.

The world around her was shrouded in the soft, and suspiciously comfortable darkness of the night, the faint sounds of crickets and rustling leaves the only sounds breaking the silence.

The cool night air danced through her hair, a gentle breeze caressing her skin as she made her way along the hard path towards the village inn.

As she walked, the houses and buildings on either side of the road stood dark and still, their windows like empty eyes watching her pass, with some of the houses dimly lit with their lamps, the light seeping through the curtain blinds.

The silence of the night was comforting and she found herself relaxing her body once more.

Fortunately, Coco finally caught the sight of the inn in the distance, its silhouette standing out against her dark surroundings.

The building was lit up in a warm, inviting glow, the light from the windows spilling onto the street and she could hear the soft sounds of people talking and laughing, the faintest hint of music wafting through the air.

The inn is the only sign of life in the otherwise quiet street of the village, its welcoming presence making her walk faster towards it.

It had been a long day for Coco.

She talked with the husbands and told them that she will bring all of them to the main city with her, not caring if the words came out as a threat towards the mediators.

Zaque wanted all of them to come, but he didn't want to force them so she decided to help him out by saying that she wants to bring all of them with her instead of just bringing two of the four husbands.

Then, after talking with Zaque and the others, she made her way towards Jacques' and Renaldo's house to have dinner.

She had the shock of her life when she saw Rey become a full grown adult, his physique completely different from the last time she saw him.

However, the visit ended with a tearful temporary farewell.

Overall, she would rate her day a ten out of ten because she enjoyed every second of it.

Now, the only thing she needs to do is talk with Joachim and tell him that she will whisk one of his beloved singers away because she would bring that singer with her.

Coco stepped inside the inn, her footsteps light and quiet as she made her way to the front desk.

As usual, Ruby is perched behind the desk with the usual logbook in front of her and she was already looking at Coco when she walked inside the inn.

"Hello, Ruby." Coco greeted the woman with a warm smile, "Is Joachim still here? I need to talk to him."

"Hello, and yes, the boss is still here." Ruby returned the warm smile with her own, making the corner of her eyes wrinkle ever so slightly, "Please wait here. I'll go get him for you."

Coco only nodded her head, watching Ruby get off the wooden stool and walk through the door behind the desk.

Not even a minute later, the door slammed open and an excited pink haired mediator came rushing out with a large smile plastered on his face.

"Coco!" Joachim exclaimed, rounding the desk and jumping at Coco, wrapping his arms around her.

The hug took Coco aback, but she managed to return the unexpected embrace just in time, which made Joachim laugh out loud.

"I wasn't expecting you to come and look for me tonight." Joachim said as he pulled away from the hug, "Sir Alithe and Sir Sinclair talked to me this afternoon so I know what you're here for."

"They did?" Coco blinked, staring at Joachim.

"Yes, and guess what? I'm completely okay with you bringing Quizen with you to the city." Joachim hums, his hands squeezing Coco's arms in a reassuring manner.

"Thank you..?" Coco said, a reluctant and confused lilt in her voice.

She's not sure why Joachim was letting her whisk Quizen away as easily as that, but if she's being honest, she won't dare complain or question it.

"Just make sure that you'll pass the license examinations, okay?" Joachim said, his smile melting into a softer one this time, "It's okay if you don't pass the first time. There's always a second time, and when that time comes, I would be more than happy to sponsor you."

"As if I'll let you." Coco huffed out, rolling her eyes at him.

Her response only made Joachim chuckle because he knew that Coco wouldn't let him.

"I know." Joachim laughed, "But I'm just saying. I don't mind sponsoring you. I would rather support you than see you become dejected."

Coco's expression softened at that and in response, she nodded her head.

"Thank you."

This time, the words came from the bottom of her heart.
