New World with Four Husbands

Chapter 274: Tears

Coco's expression turned shocked as Jacques spoke, her eyes widening momentarily.

Her surprise was evident in the way her gaze flicked towards Jacques and Renaldo, a mix of surprise and disbelief crossing her face briefly, her grip on Renaldo's hand tightening lightly.

Coco paused what she was doing, her mind reeling as she processed the revelation.

"Jonathan?" Coco repeated the name Jacques dropped, "As in the Jonathan I introduced to the two of you back in the shop? That Jonathan?"

Jacques raised an eyebrow at her question. "Do you know another mediator named Jonathan?"

"No.."

"Then yes, it's the exact Jonathan you're thinking of." Jacques said, smiling beautifully towards her friend, the previous feeling of anxiousness disappearing completely.

She only felt nervous because she doesn't know how Coco would react to the news, but since Coco was showing promising reactions, then she knows that Coco would not object to their wishes to make Jonathan their new addition.

"Oh." Coco's eyes darted down to the table, a look of confusion crossing her features.

"What's wrong?" Renaldo asked, giving Coco's hand a light squeeze, "If you have something to ask, then say it. How else would we know what you have in mind if you don't want to speak?"

"Ah, no, no.." Coco mumbled, her face scrunching up in a frown, "It's just that.. What does Jonathan know about this? What did he say?"

The married couple's hearts swelled with pride when Coco voiced out her concerns regarding Jonathan's thoughts about their decision, their love for Coco growing bigger and bigger.

"He doesn't know about it because we're planning to court him the Wallen way." Jacques said, smiling widely.

"Oh." Coco blinked owlishly, "Then why did you two tell me about it? You should have started courting him fair and square instead of telling me."

"But he's one of the few people whom you treasure aside from us." Renaldo stated, the corner of his lips quirking up slightly, "And you're the one who introduced him to us, right? I believe that it's the right decision to let you know first before we act."

Coco took a good second to process what he said, but when she finally did, she smiled.

"I see, I guess the two of you held me in high regards for you two to let me know first." Coco laughed, feeling quite honored, but bashful.

"You're currently second in the ranking." Jacques said, a playful lilt in her voice.

Coco only laughed harder, a gleeful twinkle in her emerald eyes as her shoulders shook, pleased to know that Jacques and Renaldo wouldn't do anything that would make her upset at them.

Though, she doesn't have the right to be upset whatever the married couple decide on, but it was such an honor.

"Does this mean that you'll start courting Jonathan tomorrow?" Coco asked after she calmed from her giggling fit, pulling her hand away from Renaldo's hand and reaching for the cup instead.

After the tension melted in the air, she suddenly felt thirsty.

"Yes." Renaldo answered the question because Jacques stood up from her chair and walked over to the sink, "We already have a bouquet ready and the only thing we have to do is pick it up by the florist tomorrow morning."

"A bouquet?" Coco questioned, "Why a bouquet? I mean, it's romantic and all, but why?"

"Because Jonathan is as pretty as the flowers we chose for the bouquet." Jacques answered Coco's question this time, a cheeky smile on her face as she walked back to the table, a wooden spoon in her hand.

"That's cringe." Coco mumbled, but the smile on her face betrayed her words.

She felt like kicking the air and giggling into her hand, then screaming into her pillow before punching the air because she felt like she's witnessing a live show drama with her sitting on the front row!

Too bad though, she will leave the village tomorrow afternoon so she won't be able to witness their love blooming.

"If he's interested, we will bring him to the main city on our third date." Jacques said, handing the spoon towards Coco and taking the broken ones off the table, "That way, we can also come and visit you during your examinations for your license."

Coco bit her lip, stopping herself from smiling too big.

Seriously, just what did she do to deserve such good friends like Jacques and Renaldo? They're literally thinking of her even though she hasn't left the village yet.

Isn't that what real friends do?

"If he's not interested, then we will still visit the city just to cheer you on your examinations." Renaldo chided in, smiling softly at Coco.

"Aww." Coco cooed, the sound escaping her lips before she could stop it, the feeling of overwhelming gratitude, love, and affection hitting her all at once, "Just what did I do to deserve you two? You're so good to me."

Coco's eyes glossed with tears, causing Jacques and Renaldo to spring up from their seats.

"Why are you crying— no! Don't cry!" Renaldo scrambled to get to Coco's side and ran the pad of his thumb under her eyes to wipe her tears, "Come on, Coco. There's no need to cry over this."

"But you two are so.." Coco slowly trailed off, the thoughts of leaving them in the village causing more tears to flow out of her eyes.

"Oh, dear!" Jacques gasped, her eyes widening in worry, "It's okay, Coco! There's no need to shed tears!"

"You guys are so kind and thoughtful.." Coco sobbed out, letting her tears fall down to her cheeks and not giving a fuck if she look like a mess right now.

Honestly speaking, Coco felt so grateful for them to the point that she was contemplating on telling them about the truth of her background and sudden change in personality, just to become clean of guilt.

However, for now, all she could do is cry her heart out and all her friends could do is fuss over her.
