Chapter 210: Saving Karin, Shaking Grass Ninja Village
After resting for a night in the Star Ninja Village, Haneda, along with Haku and Kimimaro, departed.
The Land of Grass lies northeast of the Land of Fire. To reach it from the Land of Bears, they had to traverse the entirety of the Land of Fire.
It took Haneda and his team two and a half days to reach the borders of the Land of Grass.
Compared to before, Haku and Kimimaro's speed had significantly improved, especially Haku. Despite being only six years old, he had already reached the level of a Chunin. It had taken him only two and a half years to reach this point since beginning his training in ninjutsu.
By the time they arrived at Grass Ninja Village, dusk was setting in.
Inside a cylindrical building in Grass Ninja Village, injured Grass Ninja entered one after another and quickly left. Each one left fully healed, their wounds completely gone.
Inside the building, a pale-faced woman lay on a bed. One Grass Ninja after another came in and bit into her body, drinking her blood.
Although their injuries healed, the woman's body bore rows of bite marks.
In the corner of the room crouched a three-year-old girl, Karin, her head buried in her knees. She sat there numbly, having witnessed this countless times since she was born.
The woman lying on the bed was her mother, Uzumaki Suzuran.
As time passed, Suzuran could no longer suppress the pain and let out a wail.
"What are you screaming about? I just took one bite!"
*Slap!*
A Grass Ninja slapped Suzuran across the face, silencing her. She endured the pain, determined not to make another sound.
But Karin could no longer stand to see her mother treated this way. She pointed her small finger at the Grass Ninja and shouted, "Stop bullying my mom!"
The Grass Ninja, biting Suzuran's arm, paused. He chuckled and bit her again, even though his injuries were already healed.
"So what if I do? What can you do about it?"
"Do you think the food and water in Grass Ninja Village come for free? Without us, how would you and your mother survive?"
With that, the Grass Ninja kicked Karin, sending her small body crashing into the wall. She fell to the floor, crying in pain, while the Grass Ninja laughed heartily.
"That's what you get for yelling at me!"
"If it weren't for the fact that you two are useful, I'd have kicked you both to death already!"
Karin lay helplessly on the ground, listening to the mocking laughter. She glanced at her mother, who struggled to climb off the bed to help her. But the Grass Ninja shoved Suzuran back onto the bed.
Karin instinctively wanted to cry, but seeing the worry in her mother's eyes, she held back. She didn't want her mother to suffer more because of her.
At that moment, a man in a white shirt and dark blue pants, a sword at his waist, walked in.
He grasped the hilt of his sword. In a flash of steel, the Grass Ninja in the room were decapitated, their heads rolling to Karin's feet. Startled, Karin instinctively backed away.
A gentle voice reached her ears.
"What are you afraid of?"
"The ones who hurt your mother are already dead."
Haneda crouched down and gently touched Karin's cheek.
"Come with me. Let's leave this place."
He extended his hand toward her, but Karin slapped it away.
"No! I want to stay with my mom!"
Haneda turned to look at Suzuran, who was gazing back at him. Suddenly, she pleaded, "Please, sir, take Karin with you!"
"The Grass Ninja will be here soon. If you don't leave now, it'll be too late!"
"Why can't you both leave? She doesn't want to be separated from you."
Haneda gestured, and Haku and Kimimaro entered the room.
"Take them both. The older one is very weak, so be careful."
Suzuran suddenly dropped to her knees.
"They're coming, sir! I'm dying; I can't make it far. I'll only slow you down."
"Please, I beg you, just take my daughter!"
By now, the building was surrounded by Grass Ninja, including the village leader. They couldn't allow Suzuran and Karin to escape—their bloodline's healing abilities were too important for Grass Ninja Village, which lacked medical ninjas.
Haku reassured gently, "Haneda-sama is very strong. There's no need to fear."
Kimimaro added, "No one is stronger than Haneda-sama. The ones who should be afraid are outside."
As if on cue, a dazzling golden light flashed, and the building was instantly sliced into countless fragments.
The debris rained down, but Karin and her mother were shielded by a golden barrier. Looking closer, it was a colossal golden giant, with the two of them safely inside its protective embrace.
Haneda stood within the Susano'o, looking down at the Grass Ninja Village with cold detachment.
"You have two choices," he said calmly.
"Either pretend nothing happened here today, or ensure no one remembers it—because only the dead remember nothing."
His voice, though steady, carried a chilling murderous intent.
The 3,000 Grass Ninja stared at the golden giant and the man inside it, swallowing their fear.
The leader of Grass Ninja Village pointed at Haneda and shouted, "Uchiha Haneda! Don't think we'll bow to a Leaf Ninja!"
Haneda smirked, his mere presence causing the Grass Ninja to tremble.
They knew too well of his fearsome reputation—one man who had fought multiple Jonin during the Leaf-Rock battlefield.
The leader tried to rally his troops.
"During the Third Great Ninja War, the Leaf needed us to fend off the Rock! How can we bow to them now?"
"Don't forget, there are 3,000 of us and only one Uchiha Haneda. We have the advantage!"
Hearing this, Karin and her mother closed their eyes in fear as the Grass Ninja charged.
*Boom!*
The ground shook violently. When Karin opened her eyes, hundreds of injured Grass Ninja lay scattered, and their leader was defeated.
Haneda dismissed the Susano'o and landed beside Karin and Suzuran.
"Let's go. You'll have a better life from now on."
He extended his hand again, and this time Karin hesitated, then took it.
Holding her tiny hand, Haneda led her out of Grass Ninja Village, her mother following close behind.
Behind them, nearly 2,000 Grass Ninja stood silently, too terrified to move or even breathe too loudly.
The leader's boast of "3,000 against one" now seemed laughable.
Everyone knew that Uchiha Haneda alone was equivalent to entire armies. The only reason they were alive was that he had no desire to kill indiscriminately.
As they left, Suzuran glanced back at the Grass Ninja silently collecting the bodies of their comrades. She then looked at her daughter, who was skipping along happily, and tears streamed down her face.
No longer would Karin be treated as a human blood pack. This man, Uchiha Haneda, had rescued them from hell itself.
