Naruto: Transmigrated as Obito with the System

Chapter 79: Chapter 79: Arrival in the Land of Rain

Obito removed his mask, utterly perplexed.

"This makes no sense! The mask's supposed to make me untouchable, right?"

Yuki couldn't help but smile at the frustrated boy.

"You little brat. Hurry up and take the antidote, or you're in for some real trouble."

Obito froze. "Wait, you poisoned me? When did that happen?"

Yuki shrugged nonchalantly. "While I was talking to those two earlier. Even if you hadn't acted, they wouldn't have lasted much longer."

Obito broke into a cold sweat, quickly uncorking the small bottle and gulping down the antidote. After drinking it, he muttered under his breath.

"If I'd known this, I wouldn't have intervened... That infiltrator reward was pretty nice, though..."

Yuki gave him a sidelong glance. "What are you mumbling about over there?"

Obito forced a laugh. "Nothing! Nothing at all!"

He directed his attention inward, carefully sensing the changes in his body. After overhearing so many secrets just now, he couldn't help but consider the possibility:

What if Yuki decided to silence him for good?

The thought had crossed his mind when she handed him the bottle. Fortunately, his Hashirama cells provided strong resistance to toxins. If anything felt off, he could always escape using Kamui.

No matter his doubts, he still chose to play along, feigning trust in her.

Yuki, observing how readily Obito drank the antidote she gave him, allowed a faint, almost imperceptible smile to surface. A glimmer of approval flickered in her eyes.

After a moment, she let out a soft hum. "So, you heard everything between me and those two?"

Obito let out a wry chuckle. "Not everything, but I think I caught the important parts."

He added teasingly, "You're always poking fun at me, but it seems your identity is far more impressive than mine, Yuki."

"Speaking of which... I've learned so much. You're not planning to kill me to keep me quiet, are you?"

Yuki reached out, lifting his chin with a delicate hand. Her slender fingers traced lightly across his face as an enigmatic smile played at her lips.

"Who knows...?"

Obito gulped, deliberately exaggerating his expression of fear. "Ah! N-no way!"

Yuki rolled her eyes, letting go of his face.

"Your acting is terrible... Relax, I won't harm you. My time in Konoha isn't exactly a well-kept secret. Most of the higher-ups already know about it."

She paused before continuing. "Back when I escaped Hanzo's clutches, I had the Hokage's help. So, I simply stayed here."

Obito nodded in sudden realization.

Of course. The Third Hokage—always scheming and shrewd. How could he not know about Yuki's existence?

He decided to test the waters further. "Do you... ever want to return to your homeland?"

A flicker of hesitation passed through her eyes. "That place... is suffocating. I..."

Obito stood on tiptoes to pat her shoulder. "I understand."

He glanced at the two dazed figures on the floor and asked, "What about them? How should we handle this?"

Yuki spread her elegant hands. "I'll deal with it. It's not the first time they've sent people after me."

Yikes… Yuki, just how many people have you secretly dealt with already?

"And me?" Obito asked tentatively.

"Just go back. Pretend nothing happened."

Obito nodded lightly and headed for the door. As he walked away, Yuki's voice, tinged with a rare hint of vulnerability, stopped him.

"Will you... come back?"

Obito turned back with a cheeky grin. "Of course! Yuki's services are top-notch!"

Without waiting for a response, he bolted out of the room, smashing through the barrier outside in his haste.

Yuki slammed her palm onto the table in exasperation. "That brat! How dare he take advantage of me!"

Despite her complaint, a smile crept back onto her face.

Outside, Obito hummed an upbeat tune, his steps light and energetic.

"The path ahead is mine to carve! Hahaha!"

From a nearby house came a furious yell. "For crying out loud! It's the middle of the night! Stop wailing like a banshee out there!"

A woman's voice followed, coaxing gently, "Dear, don't mind him. Let's get back to our game of cards."

Seriously? Obito thought, rolling his eyes. Complaining about me while you're up all night playing cards?

He shook his head with a chuckle. His mind wandered to Nagato, Konan, and Yahiko.

"Yahiko's still alive. Konan and Nagato haven't fallen into despair yet. The three of them still have their ideals, their dreams of peace."

Unlike a vision of annihilation, their hope was like a fragile flame in this dark world. Obito resolved to nurture that flame, to make it burn brighter, against all odds.

"I guess it's time to visit the Land of Rain," he murmured.

The next morning, Obito was up early, stretching lazily.

"Ahhh, what a good rest!"

He formed a hand seal, summoning a shadow clone. Patting the clone on the shoulder, he said,

"You're in charge here."

The clone smiled confidently. "Leave it to me!"

With that, Obito entered Kamui's dimension. He had left a spatial marker in Konoha, ensuring he could return instantly if needed.

The Land of Rain was a small country, cursed by its geography. Nestled between the Land of Earth, Land of Wind, and Land of Fire, it had long been a battleground for their wars.

Internally, the country was plagued by ceaseless strife. Its people, caught in a cycle of conflict and suffering, lived lives of despair. It was no wonder this land gave rise to so many radical ninjas.

Walking through the rain-soaked streets, Obito stood out in his attire, but no one paid him any attention. The residents had grown indifferent to everything. Even the specter of death brought them no fear—only relief.

"How tragic..." he sighed, his heart heavy with resolve.

"I'll change this. If not for the world, then for the people I care about!"

With steely determination, Obito vanished into Kamui's dimension, ready to gather the intel he needed and take his first step toward reshaping this broken world.
