Naruto: Transmigrated as Obito with the System

Chapter 76: Chapter 76: Return to Konoha

Fukasaku stood off to the side, smiling warmly.

"You've completed your training splendidly. It's time for you to leave."

Obito hesitated, reluctant to part.

"Ah, but..."

Fukasaku leaped onto Obito's shoulder and patted his head gently.

"Obito, all good things must come to an end. No need to be overly sentimental."

"Your friends are waiting for you back home. Hurry along now."

When saying the word "friends," Fukasaku paused briefly, but Obito didn't notice.

Fukasaku continued, "And if you ever miss us, you can always return. Mount Myoboku will always welcome you."

Obito nodded firmly.

"I understand, Fukasaku-sensei. Thank you and Shima-sensei for taking care of me during this time. Please pass my regards to her as well."

Once again, Fukasaku patted Obito's head with satisfaction.

This boy, Obito, truly is a good kid.

Jiraiya led Obito away from Mount Myoboku.

Looking at the slightly downcast Obito, Jiraiya said,

"This past month of training must've been exhausting. Let's find a place to celebrate your progress."

Obito's eyes lit up.

"Like the place we went to last time?"

Jiraiya flashed a mischievous grin.

"No, even better than last time."

The next day, the two of them were lounging side by side on beach chairs. Two beautiful women stood nearby, massaging their shoulders and legs.

"Ah, Jiraiya-sama, you really know how to enjoy life," Obito sighed, his tone filled with admiration.

Jiraiya let out a hearty laugh.

"Hahaha, of course! How do you feel now? All your fatigue washed away?"

Obito let out a contented hum.

"Definitely! I feel like I've been reborn."

After the women left, Obito's eyes darted around before he smirked mischievously.

"Jiraiya-sama, do you have someone you like?"

Jiraiya froze for a moment, caught off guard by the sudden question.

After a brief pause, he replied, "I suppose I do... though I'm not entirely sure."

Obito chuckled slyly.

"For someone to capture your heart, she must be extraordinary. Maybe she can punch through walls or tear apart Susanoo with her bare hands!"

Jiraiya's lips curled into a small smile.

"Ah, naturally..."

Obito pressed on.

"Then why don't you pursue her?"

Jiraiya's expression turned wistful.

"Back then, I didn't realize my feelings. And by the time I understood... it seemed I had already missed my chance."

Obito nodded, choosing not to pry further. Anything more would have felt too pointed.

The two basked in the sun a little longer before getting dressed and hitting the road again.

...

Five days later, they arrived outside the gates of Konoha.

Obito turned to Jiraiya.

"Jiraiya-sama, aren't you planning to return to Konoha?"

Jiraiya laughed heartily.

"Cranes belong in the heavens, and dragons in the seas. A man must roam the world, after all!"

Obito gave him a knowing look.

That's just how Jiraiya is—a natural wanderer.

"Take care, Jiraiya-sama," Obito said earnestly.

Without turning back, Jiraiya waved his hand.

Obito watched him disappear into the distance, sighing softly.

"I hope this time, you'll find a better ending."

He then strode confidently into Konoha.

After so long, I'm finally back! I wonder if anyone missed me.

...

Konoha – Minato's Home

Kakashi leaned over, listening intently to Minato. Flying Thunder God was proving far more difficult than he'd anticipated. A month of self-study had yielded no results, so he'd turned to Minato for guidance.

Minato, ever reliable, didn't disappoint. His casual tips and explanations were enough to deepen Kakashi's understanding of the technique significantly.

As they wrapped up, Kakashi couldn't help but ask,

"Minato-sensei, how long did it take you to master Flying Thunder God?"

Minato thought for a moment before smiling apologetically.

"It's been so long I've forgotten, but... maybe a few weeks?"

Weeks…

Kakashi fell silent. Why did I even ask?

"This is just self-inflicted pain," he muttered under his breath.

"Thank you, Minato-sensei. I'll take my leave now," Kakashi said, keeping his composure.

Minato nodded warmly.

"Anytime you have questions, feel free to come by."

As Kakashi reached the door, there was a knock.

Knock, knock!

"Minato-sensei, are you home? I'm back!"

It was Obito's voice!

Kakashi's normally stoic demeanor cracked for a moment, his face lighting up with excitement. He quickly opened the door but masked his feelings with a cool, indifferent expression.

"Hm, it's you."

Obito, surprised to see Kakashi, grinned broadly.

"Kakashi, you're here too!"

He stepped forward and pulled Kakashi into a hug.

"Long time no see! Hahaha!"

Kakashi, feigning disdain, allowed the embrace.

After a while, Obito released him and turned to Minato with a sheepish smile.

"Hehe, I'm back, Minato-sensei."

Minato rose, smiling kindly.

"It's good to have you back. Everyone has missed you during your absence."

Kakashi scoffed.

"I didn't."

Obito rolled his eyes, shoving Kakashi aside.

"Yeah, yeah. No one asked you."

Their bickering was constant, but Minato had long since learned to ignore it.

"So, Obito, how did your training go?"

Obito grinned, brimming with pride.

"Let's just say... I did great!"

Minato chuckled.

"Good. Shall we have dinner together tonight? Let's make it a reunion."

Obito eagerly nodded.

"Sure thing! I'll stop by my grandmother's place first to let her know."

"Kakashi, you're in charge of inviting Rin. It's settled!"

Without waiting for a reply, Obito dashed off.

"I—!" Kakashi's protest died in his throat. He was left recalling the sheer terror of being the third wheel last time.
