At the edge of the clouds, the sky was dyed red.
Through the glow of the setting sun, daylight displayed its final brilliance, gradually fading into darkness. As the sun sank below the clouds, night slowly descended. In the dim moonlight, amidst the lush forest outside Konoha Village, a pair of calm, composed eyes slowly opened.
"Sshh-shhh-shhh—"
A breeze gently stirred the forest, causing the branches to sway and rustle.
However, at this moment, the sound seemed like a trembling prelude, mourning for the events about to unfold tonight.
"Stay alert!"
"All Iwagakure forces, remember this—your mission tonight is to strictly follow the original plan. Now, move!"
A deep, raspy voice echoed in the shadowy, green forest. As his voice fell, the previously silent forest was filled with the sound of figures swiftly moving, cutting through the air with countless "whoosh" noises. Silhouettes darted through the treetops under the moonlight, each one seemingly carrying a sense of resolve.
Meanwhile.
Not far away, in another section of the forest, a tall figure standing on a tree trunk spoke in a calm voice.
"Pass the word—order all Suna forces to move now!"
As soon as he spoke, several figures around him disappeared from sight. Shortly after, the forest below erupted with the sound of hurried movement. The young man standing on the tree trunk cast a calm glance at the scene, his weary, dark-circled eyes filled with a hint of doubt as he murmured softly.
"Can this kind of ambush really affect Konoha?"
Despite the unchanged expression on his face, his hands, which were crossed in front of his chest, clenched tightly for a moment.
"Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!"
As such a large group of shinobi began their slow advance, it was impossible not to make any noise. Even though they tried their best to maintain stealth, the noise they made grew louder, disturbing the silence of the forest. Unnoticed by the group, a small figure floated silently above them.
The old man's sharp gaze, like that of a hawk hunting prey, was fixed on the brightly lit village in the distance, as he murmured in a low voice.
"Konoha..."
At the same time.
Just as countless lurking shinobi began their operations under the darkened sky...
In another part of the forest.
A tall figure slowly emerged. In this quiet woodland, several figures in black-and-white uniforms waited silently. They were each preoccupied with their own tasks, seemingly bored. When they noticed the figure appearing under the faint moonlight, their expressions turned respectful.
"Aizen-sama, do you have any instructions?"
A young man with pale eyes bowed respectfully as he asked.
Aizen's lips curved slightly, his deep eyes flashing with a hint of amusement as he spoke in a soft, gentle voice.
"Saki, there's going to be a rather interesting battle tonight. Come, let's go watch."
At this, Saki's expression froze for a moment before quickly realizing what Aizen was referring to.
A sharp gleam flashed in his pale eyes, and he replied respectfully.
"As you wish."
Nearby, a young man with brown hair who had been quietly meditating by a large tree also opened his eyes.
Listening to Aizen's words, a light flickered in his brown eyes.
After hesitating for a moment, he watched Aizen turn to leave and hurriedly called out.
"Aizen...sama, this time, please take me with you."
Hearing the complex emotions in the voice behind him, Aizen's eyes gleamed with a faint smile as he slowly turned around, looking at the brown-haired youth, and spoke with a soft laugh.
"Nawaki, are you sure your heart is truly prepared?"
In response, Nawaki's lips tightened, his brown eyes shining with depth and determination as he replied solemnly. "Rest assured, Aizen-sama, I am fully prepared for this moment."
"Before the village my grandfather founded and this world, I have made my decision!"
A soft breeze blew, gently lifting a few strands of Nawaki's brown hair from his forehead.
At this moment, his hair was slightly slicked back, giving him a faint resemblance to Aizen.
And that youthful face bore a striking resemblance to the man who once founded Konoha Village and single-handedly stabilized the tense relations between the Five Great Shinobi Villages—Hashirama Senju.
Aizen's lips curled into a faintly amused smile as he gazed at Nawaki, their eyes meeting for a moment.
Seeing the firm expression on Nawaki's face, Aizen spoke softly.
"In that case, follow me."
"This time, it's just the three of us. Think of it as a little reflection on the village. Some memories can't be severed so easily."
Nawaki's face lit up with excitement when Aizen agreed.
Aizen then turned his head slightly, his voice magnetic as he spoke to a young man in the shadows of the quiet, dark forest.
"Ulquiorra, I'll leave this place to you for now. This child and I have some matters to attend to."
As Aizen spoke, he gently ruffled Nawaki's hair. This gesture left Nawaki completely stunned, as a distant, familiar feeling from a long-forgotten memory seemed to return to him.
He looked up in disbelief at Aizen's soft smile, reminiscent of the gentle older brother figure from his childhood.
Upon hearing Aizen's words, Ulquiorra bowed respectfully, his voice calm.
"I will watch over this place. Please do not worry, Aizen-sama."
Aizen nodded slightly and then turned away, speaking softly.
"Let's go."
Saki and Nawaki followed closely behind, and the three of them disappeared into the darkness of the forest.
After they left, Ulquiorra slowly retreated into the shadows and stood there quietly with his eyes closed.
Just then, a low, raspy voice slowly echoed.
"Ulquiorra, Aizen has changed."
Hearing this, Ulquiorra opened his pale green eyes and looked forward calmly, responding without emotion.
"Everyone changes. Aizen-sama is no exception."
To this, the raspy voice let out a low laugh. "But...doesn't that mean that the once-invincible Aizen might now have a weakness? At least, that's how I see him."
Upon hearing this, Ulquiorra closed his eyes again, his tone indifferent.
"Baraggan, your ambition is foolish. Remember this—Aizen-sama will remain invincible at all times. Whatever thoughts you have are nothing but things Aizen-sama couldn't care less about."
"Of course, if you overstep your bounds even slightly, I won't hesitate to cut you down."
Hearing his words, the old man under a nearby tree scowled, his expression filled with displeasure as he muttered.
"Let's wait and see."
Ulquiorra didn't reply, his face remaining calm, as if he couldn't care less.
