Chapter 225: Chapter 224 : Mr. A's Recruitment!!

White Fang remained silent, deeply troubled inside.

Looking at the situation, if he didn't satisfy Uchiha Mikoto, they would have a hard time escaping today.

He had already tested the defense of Susanoo. Even using all his strength, he was only able to break through the first stage. But that was just the beginning.

Who knew what would happen if he pushed Uchiha Mikoto too far? With the Uchiha clan's unpredictable nature, might she escalate to the second or third stage?

By then… breaking through would no longer be easy.

Furthermore, he was also carrying the burden of Orochimaru. If a fight broke out, White Fang couldn't guarantee Orochimaru would survive.

What if Orochimaru died? He'd have no way to explain himself.

After much thought, White Fang reluctantly nodded his agreement but still warned: "Orochimaru, you better know your limits. If not, I'll be the first to deal with you."

"Heh, don't worry, White Fang."

Orochimaru grinned and calmly said, "My dreams aren't fulfilled yet. Why would I take any risks?"

Seeing the agreement made, Uchiha Mikoto eagerly asked, "When will this chance you mentioned happen?"

The hope of reviving that person was now so close, and she couldn't wait a moment longer. She wanted to know immediately.

"Heh, don't rush, Uchiha Mikoto."

Orochimaru looked at her meaningfully and said, "That chance might come, or it might not. It all depends on fate's decision."

Hearing this, Mikoto's gaze hardened, and she spoke in a low voice, "How do I know you're not lying to me?"

"The choice is in your hands too."

Orochimaru wasn't worried at all, speaking with amusement: "If you don't trust me, you're free to keep fighting. After all, White Fang and I might survive, but your hope of reviving that person will be gone for good."

Completely cornered, Uchiha Mikoto fell silent for a moment, her eyes red as she glared at him. "Fine, I'll trust you this time, Orochimaru. If you dare lie to me, I swear I'll kill you, no matter where you run."

"No need to, you'll know the answer in a month at the latest."

Orochimaru chuckled and shook his head. "If nothing happens by then, it means you weren't chosen by fate."

The description, which made no sense at all, only deepened Uchiha Mikoto's doubts. However, she still held onto a sliver of hope for the 'resurrection.'

After all, the once-dead White Fang was now standing alive before her. Wasn't that the best proof?

She couldn't miss this last chance. She nodded and said in a low voice, "Alright, we'll do it your way."

"There's one more thing."

Orochimaru licked his lips, his cold eyes fixed on her as he said, "I need to mark you with the 'Cursed Tongue Eradication Seal' to prevent you from revealing today's conversation when you return. Do you agree?"

"Fine."

Mikoto took a deep breath and agreed.

She was desperate, like someone who, in a state of panic, would grasp at any hope, disregarding the threat. All that mattered in her mind was how to resurrect that person. As for everything else? It didn't matter anymore!

Quickly, Orochimaru placed the curse seal on Mikoto's tongue.

"Orochimaru, if you dare deceive me…"

Mikoto, feeling the seal being placed, glared at them with murderous intent in her eyes.

"Heh, if fate doesn't choose you…"

Orochimaru's cold gaze also radiated a murderous aura as he spoke. "I and White Fang will come to Konoha and kill you. So don't worry."

"Fine."

Uchiha Mikoto coldly stared at them, then turned and carried the seriously injured Kakashi on her back.

After taking a few steps, she turned back and looked at White Fang, saying, "I'll use genjutsu to temporarily seal his memories of today. You don't need to worry."

After a brief hesitation, White Fang slightly nodded, a trace of gratitude showing on his face. "Thank you."

Swish!

Mikoto, carrying Kakashi, disappeared into the forest.

It was only after confirming that Mikoto had truly left that White Fang cast an unhappy glance at Orochimaru. There was a hint of reproach in his words.

"You were too bold just now. What if Mr. Adam finds out? You secretly contacted other people and even tried to recruit someone to join us. What do you think would happen?"

"When did I ever promise that she would join us?"

Orochimaru replied indifferently, "I just said I would give her a chance. As for the real decision, that lies with Mr. Adam. You and I are just insignificant cogs in this machine. Even if Mr. Adam gets angry, it's only my problem. You don't need to worry."

He admitted that he was indeed bold.

But, there was a reason for it. He just wasn't willing to explain further.

He was actually taking a gamble. Mr. "Adam" might have an intention to increase the members of the Twilight Hermits.

If he guessed correctly, his importance in Mr. Adam's eyes would likely rise significantly. But if he guessed wrong, it would only cost him some heavy losses.

The rewards and risks coexisted, and he thought it was worth the gamble!

"The next part of the journey will be up to you, White Fang." Orochimaru was still quite weak and unable to move freely for the time being.

"Got it."

White Fang carried Orochimaru on his back, determined the direction, and quickly moved forward along the tree trunks.

"Did you get it?"

After escaping from danger, Orochimaru finally had time to ask about the item.

"Yes."

White Fang nodded slightly in confirmation.

"Good, that's a relief."

Orochimaru sighed in relief. If they had paid such a great price and still failed to get the item, it would have been too much of a loss.

"Did you… look at it?"

Orochimaru asked again, his eyes gleaming with anticipation.

"I... looked at it."

White Fang fell silent for a moment before hurriedly continuing, "It's not what you thought. This is only one-twenty-second of the stone tablet. The inscriptions on it... can't be deciphered, and they make people dizzy, nauseous, with symptoms like ringing in the ears, hallucinations, and so on."

After hearing this, Orochimaru just chuckled and replied nonchalantly, "Since it's a vessel recording the path of the gods, it's only natural that it wouldn't be easy for us to understand. But that's fine… once we offer it to Mr. 'Adam,' we should receive a reward in the form of a pathway."

"Yeah."

White Fang replied briefly, not mentioning the distribution issue.

Both of them were smart enough to know this wasn't the time for such discussions. The most important thing now was to quickly head to the secret base, set up the "ritual," and inform Mr. Adam.

Their target was the Land of Rice Fields, adjacent to the Land of Fire.

In a distant place, there was a secret base established by Orochimaru a long time ago, along with some of his loyal followers.

While White Fang was swiftly moving through the forest, carrying Orochimaru on his back, he suddenly heard a harsh, gravelly sound from behind, as if sand and stones were grinding together.

"Please, stop!"

White Fang, who was ahead, didn't slow down. Instead, he sped up.

"Please, stop!"

The voice didn't fade away but actually came closer!

White Fang accelerated again, trying to shake off the person behind him.

But in the next moment, a shadow suddenly appeared in front of them, blocking their path.

White Fang planted his feet on the tree trunk and, with a graceful flip, landed a bit farther away, keeping a vigilant eye on the shadow.

The figure stepped out from the tree's shadow. It was a middle-aged man, wearing a black coat with his hair styled in a slick, upright fashion, dressed like a priest. His demeanor shifted between madness and elegance, giving off a strange and unsettling vibe. In his hand, he held a silver cross.

"Heh heh, don't be in such a hurry, gentlemen~"

The man gave a devout smile and said while holding up the cross, "I see that your faces are fated to meet with my Aurora Order. Why not consider joining us?"

Dammit.

At that moment, both White Fang and Orochimaru felt as though a thousand headbutting alpacas were charging through their minds.

Why did it have to be them of all people?

Of all the times, why did they run into their sworn enemies, the Aurora Order, at this critical moment?

Seeing the two remain silent, the man continued, "Allow me to introduce myself. I am Mr. A from the Aurora Order. If possible, I would like to introduce to you our Father and Savior, the great Creator who made the world, the true Creator of all life!"

Damn, is today some cursed day?

Orochimaru's forehead twitched, and he was seriously beginning to doubt that today was just his unlucky day.

Otherwise, why would these unwanted individuals keep showing up one after another?

The more they tried to avoid them, the more they appeared right in front of them!

"No, I'm not interested, thank you."

After a brief silence, White Fang twitched his mouth and politely declined, "We have matters to attend to. Sorry, we must be going now."

But Mr. A stepped forward, blocking their way, his face lighting up with a wide smile. "You may go, but may I ask you to hand over the 'Blasphemy Slate'?"
