Chapter 161: Chapter 161: Nine-Tails Chakra Mode
Early the next morning.
Mirai carefully lifted two slender legs off his waist and stretched with satisfaction.
Feeling his movements, Mikoto and Konan, still asleep, frowned slightly and murmured before turning over and falling back into their dreams.
Seeing the two of them, a smug grin appeared on Mirai's face.
If he weren't worried about them being unable to handle it, he could have gone a few more rounds.
Thinking about it, his decision to build a harem was clearly out of consideration for his women's well-being. After all, a man as thoughtful as him was a rare find.
Lost in his amusing thoughts, Mirai dressed and headed to the clan's training grounds.
After last night's progress, he was eager to test and refine his newfound abilities.
Activating his Mangekyō Sharingan, he focused on a wooden post in the center of the training field.
"Kamui!"
With a low shout, his immense ocular power surged outward.
The space around the wooden post twisted violently.
Crack!
In an instant, the thick wooden post snapped cleanly in two.
Mirai nodded in satisfaction.
Kamui's ability to distort space remotely made it an incredibly powerful offensive tool—almost like an attack from a higher dimension.
Its speed and stealth made it even deadlier. Evading it required exceptional reflexes and acute spatial awareness—traits few possessed.
Otherwise, the only way to avoid Kamui's attacks was through sheer prediction.
"I wonder if Obito has finished transplanting a Sharingan capable of activating Izanagi..." Mirai muttered to himself.
After experiencing Kamui's power, he was itching to acquire Obito's "intangible" ability.
Calming his thoughts, Mirai glanced at Kurama, who was lazily basking in the sun nearby.
"Kurama, come help me test a new technique," he called out.
Kurama huffed and reluctantly hopped onto Mirai's shoulder.
"I haven't had enough sun yet."
Mirai's eyes narrowed. "Kurama, are you defying my orders?"
Kurama froze, then wisely shut his mouth.
Though he had only been sealed inside Mirai last night, Kurama had already learned plenty about this brat from Kushina. This guy was even more troublesome than Madara—defying him would be asking for trouble.
Returning to Mirai's body without protest, Kurama began channeling his chakra.
With Kurama's cooperation, Mirai tapped into the Nine-Tails' power.
Opening his eyes, Mirai was now cloaked in a shimmering golden chakra mantle. Paired with his eerie Mangekyō Sharingan, the transformation was undeniably striking.
"Not bad," Mirai mused, admiring his reflection. "Way cooler than Naruto in the original story."
Smirking at his own vanity, he reveled in the sheer cool factor of the Nine-Tails Chakra Mode. Strength could be acquired, but being effortlessly stylish? That was a lifelong gift.
"Let's test the speed."
In the blink of an eye, Mirai vanished, leaving only a golden streak.
No—faster than lightning!
Compared to this, the Fourth Raikage's Lightning Release Chakra Mode was laughable.
"Seems like I'll need to learn Sage Mode soon," he murmured after exiting the Nine-Tails Chakra Mode.
Combining Sage Mode with the Nine-Tails Chakra Mode would elevate his power even further.
The question now was which Sage Mode to choose: Shikkotsu Forest, Ryūchi Cave, or Mount Myōboku?
Lost in thought, he was interrupted by playful laughter.
"Mirai, there you are!"
"Finally found you!"
Kurenai ran over and grabbed Mirai's arm with a bright smile.
Rin Nohara followed closely, taking hold of his other arm without hesitation.
Ever since experiencing the trauma of death and resurrection, Rin had stopped suppressing her feelings. Life was fragile and unpredictable—there was no room for regrets.
"Hmph! As expected, you're a total scumbag."
Anko Mitarashi, who had tagged along, scowled at the sight and muttered under her breath.
"Now, now, Anko," Mirai said, feigning innocence. "It's not my fault. Kurenai and Rin came over and grabbed me. I'm the victim here."
"Shameless!" Anko snapped.
Unfazed, Mirai chuckled and gestured for her to come closer.
"What is it?" she asked warily, stepping forward.
"There's no room on the sides, but the front is still open. You can hug me too."
Anko's face turned bright red. "W-What are you saying?! W-Who wants to hug you, you shameless jerk!"
Ignoring her protests, Mirai gently pulled her into a hug.
"Fine, I'll humor you this once," she grumbled, her voice tinged with embarrassment. "But this is the last time, got it?"
Smiling, Mirai nodded. With experience handling tsunderes, he knew exactly how to interpret her words.
As he enjoyed the moment, a purple-haired girl wearing a mask suddenly appeared on the training grounds.
She paused, startled by the scene before her.
"Mirai-senpai... Am I interrupting something?"
Mirai looked up, his lips curling into a mischievous smile.
"No," he said. "You've arrived at just the right time."
