Chapter 63: CHAPTER 63 - Team Battle

This time, not only did Obito and his two companions arrive at the battlefield in the Land of Rivers, but also Asuma Sarutobi, Genma Shiranui, and others came along with their respective jonin leaders and second batch of reinforcements.

Among the graduates who were in the same class as Team A, apart from Mirai Hyuga, who had passed the jonin exam and gained the qualification to lead missions independently, the others were still training under their jonin leaders.

Even Kakashi, though his strength rivaled that of many elite chunin, lacked experience in leading missions and had yet to prove his leadership abilities. It wasn't until he turned twelve and became a jonin that he led a team on his first mission.

Upon reaching the designated location, not only were Kakashi and his team there, but after receiving word, Asuma Sarutobi and Genma Shiranui also arrived to join the fray.

"Kurenai," Asuma Sarutobi said, clearly having practiced the line many times in private, nervously greeting Kurenai Yuhi with a feigned nonchalance, "Long time no see. I heard that you've been focused on training, no wonder you became a chunin so quickly."

Kurenai nodded in acknowledgment. "It's been a while, Asuma." She then moved forward with Mirai Hyuga, following behind her.

"Uh… Kurenai," Asuma murmured, his voice dropping once she walked away. Aside from himself, only Mirai Hyuga could vaguely hear him.

"Hmph, Hyuga Kiyo, you finally showed up!" Obito Uchiha, acting as the villain, leapt forward, pointing at Kiyo and declaring, "In a moment, you'll witness the true power of the Uchiha!"

However, Kiyo Hyuga didn't even look at Obito. Her white eyes were fixed on Kakashi and the short sword on his back.

Graduating at five, becoming a chunin at six, Kiyo was indeed strong, but she had to admit Kakashi's talent and strength surpassed hers. Growing up, she had been taught by her grandfather to carry on the Hyuga clan's legacy, and early on, she had the idea of surpassing Kakashi in skill.

Unfortunately, there had been no opportunity in the academy, and afterward, she had been focused on missions and training. However, she had never forgotten the idea of taking the title of "genius" away from Kakashi.

If she defeated him, that would mean both top graduates of their class had come from the Hyuga clan, and her authority in her grandfather's eyes would increase.

Kakashi appeared relaxed, leaning against a nearby tree, but his eyes were serious. Although Kiyo and her companions had become chunin after him, they had quickly left their jonin leaders behind, completing tasks independently. He, on the other hand, despite becoming a chunin the fastest, still required guidance from a jonin.

Defeating these three on his own would be difficult; he needed the right opportunity. Kakashi appeared calm, but internally, he was already strategizing.

"Kakashi, are you ready?" Kiyo's voice was calm as she spoke, but her tone seemed to irritate Obito, standing nearby.

"Damn you, Kiyo Hyuga, ignoring me again!" Obito clenched his fist angrily, his thoughts consumed by Kakashi. He'd make everyone see who the true strongest of this team was.

"If everyone is ready, then let's begin!" Kiyo activated her Byakugan and scanned the area before glancing toward a familiar spot behind them. There, she spotted two acquaintances, though she didn't need to focus on them.

Obito proudly touched his nose, saying, "No problem, let's go!"

As soon as his words ended, both Obito and Rin Nohara leapt into action, quickly scattering to hide. Kakashi, however, only distanced himself and didn't make any attempt to conceal himself.

"Kurenai, as we agreed, you'll go straight for Rin Nohara. Obito will rush in to save her. They've set up five traps, two of which are located at a bearing of 5 degrees southeast, 200 meters away, and at 30 degrees southeast, 140 meters away. The traps are…"

Mirai Hyuga, using his Byakugan, pinpointed the exact positions of Obito and Rin and relayed the information to Kurenai Yuhi.

Genma Shiranui, witnessing the scene, couldn't help but shake his head and mutter, "Obito's such a fool, setting traps under the Byakugan's watch. They've been here for so long and made all these useless efforts."

The reason Kakashi wasn't hiding his presence was simple: it was pointless. Under the watchful eyes of two Byakugan, even using earth jutsu to hide underground would be futile.

"Understood, Captain!" Kurenai said as she made a series of hand seals, instantly disappearing with the Body Flicker Jutsu.

Mirai Hyuga had used this technique the most, and both Kurenai and Kiyo had also practiced it for a while, so they were well-versed in its use.

"What an idiot!" Kakashi thought, frustrated by Obito's reckless actions. He had laid traps ahead of time and involved Kakashi in this two-team battle, but he hadn't created any advantageous situations and had only exposed his own weaknesses.

"In the end, being strong on your own is the right way. Teammates are just useless."

As Kakashi saw Kiyo approaching him, he drew the short sword from his back.

Though only Kurenai was engaging Obito and Rin, Kakashi didn't believe for a second that the two of them could deal with Kurenai.

The nearby Mirai Hyuga might be a medical ninja, but Kakashi had heard that he was the team leader, having led Kurenai and Kiyo through A-rank missions. If he had no real skill, Kiyo would never have allowed someone from the branch family to become captain.

On a distant tree branch, two figures crouched, observing the clash between the two teams.

"Akimichi Fuu, my student may be about to get a tough lesson from your subordinates."

"That's 'former' subordinates," Fuu emphasized. "They've grown a lot. Mirai Hyuga has already noticed you and me. I'm not sure how strong they are now."

Minato Namikaze smiled. He, too, noticed the unique chemistry of this team. The cohesion of their teamwork, centered around their captain, had been honed through numerous missions.

In contrast, his own students lacked such coordination, seemingly as if three strangers were fighting together.

Minato chuckled. "I hope they give my students a good lesson."

Meanwhile, Kurenai had already returned, carrying Rin on her back.

"Hee hee, Captain, I've taken care of it over there. Thanks to your reminder, I would've had trouble with Obito's traps if not for that."

Kurenai smiled as she gently set Rin, who had been caught in a genjutsu, down to the side.

"Where's Obito?" Mirai asked, confused as to why only one person was brought back.

"I knocked him out," Kurenai said with a smile.
