Naruto: God Reborn

Chapter 13: 13

Aizen smirked as he observed the shock and confusion written on the faces of the Konoha shinobi and Tazuna.

"So that's why you're so strong," Ino finally said, piecing the puzzle together. "You're a death god."

Aizen's visible eye glinted with amusement. "Your interpretation of the word Shinigami is amusing," he said, his tone calm yet condescending. "I am not a literal god of death. Shinigami are a race of spirits tasked with governing the flow of souls between the human world and the Soul Society, a realm for the afterlife. We maintain balance."

As his explanation continued, the Hollows began bickering among themselves, loudly discussing how they would split Aizen's soul between them. Their grotesque voices were filled with greed and malice, echoing through the oppressive air.

Aizen's expression darkened, disdain flickering in his visible eye. Slowly, he raised a hand near his left eye. The air grew cold, and a surge of red reiryoku flared around him, bathing the battlefield in a malevolent glow.

"Devour, Kurama," he commanded, his voice low and filled with authority.

In an instant, a massive fox's head, crimson and terrifying, materialized from Aizen's aura. The manifestation of Kurama lunged forward, its jaws snapping shut on the unfortunate Hollows in Aizen's line of sight. Their bodies were torn apart or swallowed whole, leaving nothing but fading traces of their existence.

The horrifying sight of Kurama devouring the Hollows filled the Konoha shinobi and Tazuna with terror.

The remaining Hollows panicked, scrambling to escape. But before they could flee, they were suddenly restrained by invisible forces. Ethereal bindings shimmered into existence, locking them in place. Simultaneously, multiple golden pillars of light pierced Aizen's body, creating a chain-like formation that bound him completely.

Aizen's movements ceased entirely. His reiryoku, once so oppressive, was suppressed to the point of near stillness. For the first time, his expression flickered with annoyance, and intrigue.

"Impressive," he admitted, though his tone carried a tinge of irritation. "Who dares?"

A figure stepped into view, her presence radiating authority. Aizen's smirk widened as he recognized her. "Well, well," he said, his voice carrying a mockery of joy. "Unohana. I must say, I'm delighted to see you again. I'm relieved that you didn't end up in Hell."

Unohana's Backstory in the Naruto World

After her death at the hands of Zaraki Kenpachi, Retsu Unohana awoke to a world far removed from the spiritual realms she once knew, one devoid of Shinigami, Hollows, and the spiritual cycles she once knew.

Born into a small, peaceful village near the borders of the Hidden Waterfall Village, she was named Retsu Uzumaki. Her parents, skilled healers, raised her in a peaceful community untouched by the chaos of the ninja world.

Even as a child, Retsu displayed an unusual calmness and maturity. Her knowledge of medicinal herbs was unparalleled for her age, and her interest in the art of combat was far from ordinary for a young girl raised in a village of pacifists. By the time she turned ten, her talent with a blade became evident, a skill that felt almost innate.

Her life took a dramatic turn at the age of twelve when the Hidden Waterfall Village discovered her. During a chance encounter, a group of Waterfall shinobi witnessed her take down a group of bandits with nothing but a makeshift weapon and precision that defied her age. Impressed by her abilities, they brought her into their ranks, and she began formal training as a kunoichi.

Retsu quickly rose through the ranks of the Hidden Waterfall's shinobi forces. Her calm demeanor and extraordinary talent in kenjutsu and medical techniques earned her recognition as one of the village's most promising young warriors. By the time she was fourteen, she had become a seasoned chunin, and by 16, she was one of the youngest jonin in the Waterfall's history.

Her time as a shinobi was marked by success and bloodshed. Despite her mastery of medical ninjutsu, she found herself drawn to combat. Her missions often ended with her opponents utterly annihilated, her skill with a blade unmatched. It was during this time that the memories of her past life as Unohana Yachiru fully awakened.

When her memories returned, so too did her ruthlessness. She remembered the thrill of battle, the satisfaction of defeating an opponent, and the bloodstained history that made her the most feared Kenpachi in Soul Society's history. Yet, this time, something was different. The lessons of her past life as Retsu Unohana tempered her bloodlust, giving her a duality of personality: a healer and a killer, a savior and an executioner.

Her mastery of her past life's techniques blended seamlessly with her new abilities as a shinobi. Though the Hidden Waterfall Village never fully understood the scope of her power, they revered her as one of their greatest assets. However, her dual nature began to create tension. Some feared her, while others revered her.

At the age of forty, Unohana retired from active duty. She had grown weary of the political machinations of the ninja world and the endless cycle of violence. Settling on the outskirts of the Hidden Waterfall Village, she dedicated herself to teaching medical ninjutsu and mentoring younger shinobi. Her reputation as both a healer and a warrior continued to grow, though she remained an enigmatic figure to most.

Unohana lived quietly for decades, her presence in the Hidden Waterfall Village becoming almost mythical. By the age of 70, she had become a respected elder, though her true strength and past remained a secret to most of the world. She watched as the world around her changed, silently observing and waiting, knowing that her skills might one day be needed again.

Unohana, her calm demeanor unshaken, stepped closer. Her voice was even, but her words sharp. "Save the false pretense, Aizen."

Aizen's mind races at the thought that there might be other reincarnations of the Bleach world.

Aizen chuckled softly. "You wound me, Retsu."

Unohana's gaze turned to the restrained Hollows. "Your treatment of these souls is unacceptable. They are to be purified, not destroyed."

Aizen's amusement disappeared, replaced by cold disdain. "Purifying ants is beneath me," he said cruelly.

Unohana did not respond. In a blur of movement, her Zanpakutō gleamed, dispatching the remaining Hollows with precise, graceful strikes. Their forms dissolved as they were purified, leaving no trace behind.

With the Hollows gone, Unohana turned her focus back to Aizen. A bloodthirsty grin spread across her face, a sharp contrast to her otherwise composed demeanor. "If you are here. They must have found a way to execute you," she remarked.

The tension on the battlefield escalated. Ino's mind raced, unable to process the chaos around her. Monsters(hollows), Aizen being a Shinigami, the revelation of his past life, and now this terrifying woman.

Kurenai, sensing the danger, stepped forward. "Please," she said to Unohana, her voice steady despite the pressure. "Spare him."

Unohana's gaze flicked to Kurenai. "Do you understand the danger he poses?"

Kurenai nodded. "I do. But I also understand his value to Konoha. Aizen is our strongest deterrent against war. If he dies, Konoha will be thrown into chaos."

A heavy silence followed. Then, Unohana released her reiatsu, a suffocating wave of spiritual energy that brought everyone to their knees. Ino, Sasuke, Hana, her ninken, Anko, Kurenai, and Tazuna struggled to breathe under the oppressive force.

Aizen, still restrained, chuckled softly. "Save your breath, Kurenai," he said, his tone laced with amusement. "Unohana is a ruthless murderer. She is a bloodthirsty warrior who finds joy in battle and slaughter."

His words sent a shiver through the group, but Unohana showed no reaction.

Aizen continued, his smirk returning. "Why don't you release me, Unohana? Let us have a fair contest. Wouldn't that appeal to your love of combat?"

Unohana dismissed his suggestion with a single glance.

With no further words, she vanished in a blur of movement, appearing before Aizen. In an instant, her blade struck. A series of rapid slashes tore through Aizen's body, her precision and speed unmatched.

The Konoha shinobi and Tazuna could only watch in horror as Aizen's dismembered form collapsed to the ground, his body in pieces and lifeless.

The battlefield fell silent, the weight of Unohana's actions sinking in.
