Chapter 217: Chapter 217: Eight Gate: Open!

There was a loud bang, and violent wind swept through the sky over Mary Geoise, causing cracks to form on many towering buildings.

The two figures parted in the air, revealing Shin and Imu. Shin coughed twice, wiping the blood from the corners of his mouth. The Munch-Munch fruit activated automatically, repairing the wounds in his body.

When the Eight Gates Formation had reached the seventh gate, even the sage body struggled to maintain the healing speed necessary to keep up with the fierce battle.

On the other hand, Imu showed no sign of injury. Most of the armor on her body had shattered, yet her body remained unscathed.

In the battle just now, Shin had inflicted severe injuries on Imu multiple times, running her through and tearing her arm apart. However, within seconds, her dismembered limbs and pierced torso restored themselves as if nothing had happened.

"This is outright cheating… It doesn't feel like devil fruit powers, and even the Dark-Dark Fruit's ability doesn't work on her."

'And this person is like a machine,' Shin thought. 'No reaction to pain, no sign of weakness, even when her body is torn apart.'

He took a deep breath, studying Imu's rigid yet frenzied expression. Her resilience didn't match anything he had encountered before.

"It's not a devil fruit user… but that kind of recovery and lack of sensation…" Shin frowned, recalling his intelligence training as a shinobi. Imu clearly wasn't someone he could confront with conventional methods.

As Shin pondered, Imu shot toward him like a whirlwind. With no choice, he continued the battle.

Time went by as the minutes ticked away. This time, Shin took a deliberate risk. Struck by Imu, half of his lungs were punctured, but he retaliated with a blade forged from Truth-Seeking Balls and Haki, slicing off half of Im's head. Yet, she regenerated in moments while Shin's Munch-Munch fruit worked to restore his injuries.

Neither seemed worse for wear, yet the strain began to show. Imu remained calm and sweatless while Shin's breath became ragged.

Although his current physique surpassed the Four Emperors', activating the seventh gate of the Eight Gates Formation pushed him to his limit. He had been in combat for nearly half an hour, and his stamina was visibly waning.

In contrast, Imu's movements remained as precise and unrelenting as ever, like a robot.

"A robot… or a puppet? Maybe a clone?" Shin's mind raced. 'This might not even be her true body.'

Her unrestrained resilience—immune even to the Dark-Dark fruit—pointed to one conclusion. Imu wasn't a devil fruit user but a creation of one.

'Just like the Dark-Dark fruit can nullify Charlotte Linlin but not the Homies she created, Devil Fruit constructs are impervious to flaws. Neither seawater, Seastone, nor Dark-Dark fruit affects them.'

Shin's distraction and his depleting energy turned the tide. Imu delivered several brutal blows, almost severing him in half. If not for his regenerative abilities, he would have already fallen.

'This isn't working. I need to retreat,' Shin thought grimly. 'But before that, I'll make sure she learns a lesson.'

His eyes burned with resolve as he pressed his thumb against his heart.

"Eight Gates Formation: Eighth Gate, open!"

A terrifying surge of chakra erupted, and the pale blue scales on Shin's body turned blood-red.

The eighth gate, the pinnacle of the Eight Gates Formation, consumed life force to deliver unparalleled power. It wasn't a matter of physical resilience—this technique burned through vitality at a percentage rate. No matter how immense Shin's vitality, activating this move would result in certain death.

Not even medical ninjutsu or the Sage of Six Paths himself could reverse the effects. This technique demanded total sacrifice, but in exchange, the increase in strength was exponential.

Shin's power multiplied a hundredfold, surpassing anything imaginable, as if thousands of Four Emperors' strength surged within him.

Imu's calm demeanor shifted into one of seriousness for the first time. She regarded Shin with newfound seriousness.

"Heh, let's see how fast you can recover when there's nothing left to regenerate!" Shin roared, ignoring the excruciating pain coursing through his body.

Without hesitation, he surged forward. His speed shattered the sound barrier, the sheer velocity peeling away the atmosphere in his path. Explosions echoed across the skies, and two fiery tornadoes formed around him from the friction of the superheated air.

As Shin extended his fist, the energy unleashed rippled through the air, creating devastating shockwaves.

Unlike others who named their techniques whimsically, Shin relied on simplicity. His strongest move, a supersonic punch inspired by the mantis shrimp's kinetic strike, was now amplified a hundredfold.

"A hundredfold supersonic punch!" he roared.

His attack obliterated everything in its path. The compressed air itself turned into liquid lightning, forming beams of devastating energy. The resulting explosion erased everything it touched—including Imu.
