Chapter 216: Chapter 216: The Final Boss Appears
The heavy rain in the sky gradually stopped, and a large number of slaves, almost forming a long queue, marched toward the square.
A group of Celestial Dragons, their eyes faintly marked with the patterns of the Rinnegan, herded the slaves while shouting as their bodyguards stood nearby.
In the center of the square was a dark, circular vortex portal. One by one, the slaves hesitantly stepped through the door.
At this moment, the enslaved people trembled with fear, unable to guess what new form of torture awaited them or what lay on the other side of the portal. Yet, with no choice, they moved forward.
Almost half an hour later, nearly all of Mary Geoise's slaves had been evacuated, leaving the city eerily unresponsive.
Shin's mouth twitched in bemusement. "What's going on? The security here is far too lax. No wonder the Fisher Tiger could trigger a slave rebellion so easily."
Mary Geoise, perched atop the Red Line at an altitude of nearly eight thousand meters, is a naturally fortified location. If this were Earth, before the advent of advanced flight technology, Mary Geoise would be utterly impenetrable.
Even in a world rife with advanced technology and extraordinary personal powers, scaling the Red Line requires extraordinary strength. Only those with abilities akin to Warlords of the Sea can hope to climb it.
However, such individuals are exceedingly rare, numbering perhaps only in the low hundreds worldwide. The stakes involved make it unlikely for anyone of their caliber to recklessly assault Mary Geoise.
This false sense of security has bred complacency among the Celestial Dragons and their guards. Despite Fisher Tiger's daring slave liberation raid years ago, which freed many, it didn't deal any direct harm to the Celestial Dragons.
"Still, this kind of negligence is ridiculous," Shin muttered as he scanned the situation.
His observation wasn't wrong. The Celestial Dragons and their guards remained oblivious as Shin emptied the city of its slaves. Only now was there a hint of movement—powerful life forces were beginning to converge toward his location.
Recognizing the approaching threat, Shin had no intention of lingering. He transformed into his dragon form, a sneer curling his lips, and ascended into the sky. Beneath him, the Celestial Dragons and their bodyguards began regaining their senses, looking confused and alarmed.
Yet before Shin could fully escape, a sharp sense of danger gripped him. He narrowly dodged, but his massive dragon body couldn't avoid the incoming attack completely. A wave of energy struck, smashing him into the ship he was towing, shattering it.
"Urgh!" Shin spat out blood as his body rapidly shrank into a hybrid dragon-human form. Activating his Munch-Munch fruit ability, he forced his wounds to close amidst a swirl of black mist.
Grimacing, he swiftly retrieved his injured crew members, pulling them into the dark dimension for safety.
His gaze then locked onto a figure emerging from the ancient city of Mary Geoise.
"ImU... why do you have to show up now of all times?" Shin cursed his luck internally, though his eyes gleamed with a fiery resolve.
Since returning to the One Piece world after his 'exploits' in the Naruto world, Shin had often felt like an overpowered player in a low-level game. Fights rarely offered a genuine challenge, and any difficulty usually stemmed from his own limitations.
But this time, he faced a foe whose strength could very well match or surpass his. For the first time in a long while, the thrill of a life-or-death battle coursed through his veins.
"Let's see just how strong the supposed final boss of this world really is!"
Shin didn't waste words. Manipulating his chakra, he materialized a radiant sword of golden energy in his hand.
"Golden Wheel Rebirth Explosion!"
The figure—Imu—stepped forward gracefully. With an almost casual motion, Imu summoned a forceful wave of Conqueror's Haki, concentrated to the point of resembling armor, effortlessly deflecting the golden energy slash.
Then, as if gravity had no hold on her, she floated upward, standing face-to-face with Shin.
[A/N: Imu's gender has not yet been revealed. In this fic, Imu is a woman.]
Shin narrowed his eyes, analyzing her abilities. Before he could formulate a theory, Imu spoke, her tone calm but laced with authority.
"A new power has appeared in the seas? Strong enough to awaken my Haki's warning... It seems this era will birth another shift." Her gaze sharpened. "But you're not Joy Boy."
Rolling his eyes, Shin retorted, "Why is everyone in this world obsessed with prophecies? Joy Boy this, chosen one that. Who needs destiny? A strong enough fist can rewrite any prophecy!"
With that declaration, Shin activated his full arsenal of abilities.
"Eight Gates, Seventh Gate, open!"
"Susanoo Armor!"
"Six Paths Lightning Chakra Mode!"
He unleashed the transformative powers of the Munch-Munch Fruit, bolstering his already formidable hybrid body. Precious alloys and reinforced bone structures further enhanced his defense. The pale sheen of hardened bone encased him like armor, adding an almost invincible layer of protection.
Imu remained motionless, observing his preparations with an unsettling calm. Yet with each new enhancement Shin activated, her expression shifted—first from nonchalance to seriousness, then to a faint smirk, and finally to a look of unbridled exhilaration.
"Impressive. You make a fair point. Destiny or not, your strength alone qualifies you to challenge the world order." Her tone dropped into something darker. "But only if you survive this battle. Come, fight me!"
Imu's ornate dress tore apart as her words echoed, revealing a set of simple but practical armor beneath.
The air around her crackled with an intensity that sent shockwaves through the battlefield. As she revealed her true form, Shin saw a tall, slender woman whose youthful features belied her ancient and terrifying power.
