Chapter 131: Chapter 131: The Barrier's Secret
With his strengthened Rinnegan, Shin saw the barrier concealing a hidden cave.
A slight force from his Rinnegan caused the barrier to break, momentarily startling Hyuga Hizashi, who had been scanning with his Byakugan.
Shin said nothing and led Hizashi directly inside, where they found a pool of water in the cave.
"This must be the elusive channel between the Earth and the Moon... Incredible," he murmured.
Shin glanced at it thoughtfully. This kind of channel was similar to a portal; if its use could be widespread, the impact on the world would be immense.
However, creating such a channel likely required extensive knowledge of space. While Shin had nearly perfected his own bloodline abilities, his knowledge in these domains was still basic; any attempt to analyze the transmission mechanism would be beyond him.
Unhurried, Shin stepped into the Earth-Moon passage with Hizashi. The genjutsu and Gatekeeper inside were powerless against him, and soon, they reached the passage's end.
[A/N: The Gatekeeper was a giant fiddler crab that served as the guardian of the Moon's entrance.]
"Is this… really the Moon?" Hyuga Hizashi asked in awe, looking around. They could even see the entire planet below them.
"The world is not as large as I thought," Shin observed, studying the continent. His time in the One Piece world had equipped him with some navigation and astronomical knowledge. He estimated that, while the planet was Earth-sized, the shinobi continent was about 10 million square kilometers—larger than Europe.
He didn't see any significant land masses on the other side of the planet; perhaps any other continents lay hidden there.
Their gazing was interrupted by a humming sound from above.
Shin looked up to see strange puppets flying toward them.
"Autonomous puppets. Sasori would be thrilled to see these," he noted.
But a closer look made Shin frown. These puppets were similar to the ones from the Dragon Vein; they depended entirely on the Tenseigan's power and couldn't function away from the Moon. They were far from being true autonomous puppets.
"I overestimated them... This puppet technique must be powered purely by bloodline abilities. In terms of skill, they're far below Sasori's level."
Deciding to keep a few for study, Shin unleashed Almighty Push, clearing most of the puppets from the sky.
In the Moon Castle, a blind middle-aged man manipulating the puppets felt his connection severed, instantly destroying many of his puppets.
"Impossible! Who has such strength? Could it be the thief who took the Gedo Statue?"
"Could the Rinnegan really rival the Tenseigan?"
"Without combining it with the Hyuga clan's pure Byakugan, the full power of the Tenseigan can't be accessed!"
The man's face grew anxious. "What should I do? Toneri is the last hope for our lineage; he cannot be sacrificed here!"
"I have no choice but to try to open the Tenseigan!"
Opening this was no small feat. The Giant Tenseigan would simplify it, but it would take an hour or two under the current circumstances. Speeding up the process was possible—at the cost of his own life, like Nagato's use of the Gedo Statue.
However, just as the man was mustering his power, a dojutsu far surpassing his own resonated with the Tenseigan.
"Only one Byakugan isn't enough for this."
On the barren moon, Shin muttered, then absorbed Hyuga Hizashi into the darkness. Using the Munch-Munch fruit's fusion ability, a new Hyuga Shin emerged.
Unlike his earlier fusion with Ace, Shin's power has grown immensely since then, and as the leading consciousness, he feels no interference from Hizashi's consciousness.
With two Byakugans, Shin finally sensed the Tenseigan and could resonate with it.
As a creation of the Otsutsuki clan, the Tenseigan naturally leaned toward its own bloodline descendants. But Shin's combined Byakugan and enhanced Rinnegan were equal in power, and his own Byakugan's resonance suppressed the Otsutsuki clan's mental imprint.
"Pfft!" The middle-aged man spat blood, his mental connection to the Tenseigan shattered as if hitting a wall. The shock knocked him unconscious.
The Otsutsuki man's life had already been weakened, and this injury left him weakened.
Meanwhile, Shin, now levitating, smiled as he manipulated gravity, shooting toward the Moon Castle like an arrow.
"Well, that was easier than expected." His newly combined Byakugan could see clearly through the castle's walls, spotting the unconscious Otsutsuki man and the young Toneri Otsutsuki.
"Tsk, you fell before I even made a move."
Shin had expected some resistance, but seeing his foe incapacitated so quickly, he shook his head with a smirk.
Descending, he pushed open the castle gate and approached the unconscious man.
"Who are you? Get away from my father!"
A defiant shout echoed, and the young Toneri Otsutsuki rushed out, glaring at Shin.
A blue chakra orb formed in the boy's hand as he launched it at Shin.
The light burst against Shin's head with a crackle, like starlight scattering. Its display was impressive, but the attack only mussed Shin's hair.
"Not bad," Shin remarked approvingly, acknowledging the boy's chakra reserves and skill in ninjutsu. With a flick, he compressed the air into a small air bullet, knocking Toneri unconscious.
