Chapter 130: Chapter 130: Path to the Moon
Shin suspects that Orochimaru's satisfaction with his current body might stem from his recent physique enhancement, leading Orochimaru to slow down his research on immortality.
In the original story, Orochimaru had already begun his first body transfer by now, driven by his obsession with eternal life.
But Shin knew better than to suggest that Orochimaru test the Reaper's Dead Seal on him just to exploit the potential bug. As a cautious person, Orochimaru would never undertake such a risk.
"Forget it…" Shin muttered to himself. There was a more straightforward method: finding a test subject who could perform the Reaper's Dead Seal and slice the Shinigami's belly. However, as an S-rank forbidden jutsu, it was challenging to perform—not simply because it required one's life in exchange, but due to its complexity. Only a top-tier Jonin could feasibly execute it.
After retrieving the Kotoamatsukami ability from Danzo, Shin considered paying him a 'visit' to return the favor, if only to test its true potential. Danzo, however, had burrowed deeper than ever into hiding.
"By the way, I went to the Hidden Grass Village and located the Uzumaki mother and daughter," Orochimaru reported casually. He cast Shin a scrutinizing look. "I'm still curious how you found that information; their bloodline is quite rare."
Shin only nodded. Mentioning Karin and her mother had been a casual directive to Orochimaru—just a piece of information he had recalled. Now, with his network firmly established, Shin didn't need to personally handle such minor matters. For a moment, he felt an odd sense of bewilderment.
However, Shin swiftly shrugged it off. Just because he no longer sought to absorb more bloodline abilities didn't mean his potential had peaked. His prowess in skills like Haki, fruit-based abilities, and unique bloodline jutsu still had much room to grow.
Over the following months, Shin trained rigorously, delving deeply into his newfound powers. Jutsu, such as Limbo: Border Jail (Rinnegan Jutsu of Madara) and Amenotejikara (Rinnega Jutsu of Sasuke), were carefully refined. With each passing day, his mastery over the abilities derived from the Otsutsuki bloodline expanded, now even merging his dark-dark fruit powers with his own capabilities.
"Boss, here's the Earth Release: Weight Rock Jutsu," Kakuzu grumbled as he entered, battered but holding a scroll. "For this one jutsu, those Iwa shinobi nearly buried me alive! Hidan is still stuck in the ground somewhere!"
Ignoring Kakuzu's complaints, Shin tossed him a box. After Kakuzu inspected the contents, he grinned, giving Shin a thumbs-up. "Boss, you're my favorite client."
Out of several of Iwagakure's jutsus, only a few genuinely caught Shin's interest: Earth Release, such as Light-Weight Rock Jutsu, Ultralight-Weight Rock Jutsu, Added-Weight Rock Jutsu, and Dust Release. Now that he possessed gravitational control through the Rinnegan, he no longer needed the Light-Weight Rock Jutsu. Dust Release was the crown jewel of the Hidden Stone Village, but Shin, for now, refrained from directly antagonizing them.
The Added-Weight Rock Jutsu might not improve his combat prowess but would amplify his physical training. Acting like a gravity chamber from the Dragon Ball universe, it could significantly boost Shin's physical conditioning—a valuable tool for his ever-enhanced physique.
Kakuzu's efficiency was impressive, especially when paid. Though he now managed Akatsuki's finances, he clearly distinguished between personal contracts and organizational obligations.
Spreading out the scroll, Shin quickly absorbed the jutsu's nuances. With his current talent level and potential, he would master it in just a few practice sessions.
"Huh? Why are you all here together? Has Nagato located the passage to the moon?" Shin asked, noticing the group approaching him.
Konan and Nagato entered the room. The latter had transformed significantly—his red hair was blazing, and his once frail body now radiated a formidable presence, his piercing eyes embodying his transformation.
"The Hidden Rain Village has found a suspicious location," Nagato reported. "Konan and I investigated but found no way to enter. We suspect it requires a unique condition to unlock."
Shin nodded, frowning slightly. Given that the passage to the moon hadn't been discovered in centuries, there was likely a specific trigger on the other side. In the original timeline, it seemed that someone from the moon's side had opened the gate.
If accessing it required certain elements…
"Notify Hizashi and prepare. When the time comes, he'll join us." Shin's eagerness for new challenges flared. With his strength developed over the past months, he was itching to put his skills to the test.
For his long-term objectives, the moon held paramount importance—not only because of the potential for Tenseigan.
The next day, Shin, Hizashi, Nagato, and Konan arrived in the Fire Country, where the suspected passage lay.
Hizashi focused on the area while activating his Byakugan. "There is indeed a peculiar barrier here, visible only with the Byakugan."
Shin's eyes flashed with a faint glow. He could forcefully merge Ao's Byakugan into his own Rinnegan through his Munch-Munch fruit. In normal circumstances, the Byakugan evolved separately as Tenseigan, distinct from the Sharingan's evolution into Rinnegan. Each stemmed from different branches of the Otsutsuki bloodline despite occasionally appearing in the same individuals.
But his Munch-Munch fruit ability defied such limitations, allowing Shin to unite these abilities seamlessly.
