Chapter 87: Ch 87
After another earth-shaking clash, Kagami and Uchiha Madara recoiled simultaneously, like fallen leaves caught in a fierce gale. The dust beneath their feet swirled into two vortex-like trails, stirred by the sheer force of their momentum.
"Now that we've tested our physical skills, let's see how you fare with ninjutsu!" Madara growled, his eyes glinting with an eerie red light as he clapped his hands together sharply.
"Sage Art: Yin Release Lightning Dispatch!"
Instantly, the sky seemed to rip apart as torrents of black lightning surged from between his hands like furious dragons, shrieking with destructive intent as they bore down on Kagami with unstoppable force.
"As you wish!" Kagami retorted, undaunted. A brilliant white orb of light rapidly formed in his palm, growing brighter, as radiant as the dawn.
"Dust Release: Rasenshuriken!"
With a shout, Kagami hurled the luminous orb forward. This was no ordinary Rasengan; it was infused with the chakra transformations of Wind Style and Dust Style, harboring a terrifying power capable of leveling dozens of mountains in a single strike. The orb spun ferociously in the air, morphing into a massive white spiral blade, bearing a force that seemed to tear through the very fabric of space as it collided with Madara's black lightning mid-air.
In that moment, the entire area seemed to fracture. Black lightning intertwined with the white blade, unleashing a thunderous roar and blinding light. Surrounding rocks shattered under the immense pressure, dust billowed everywhere, as if the apocalypse had descended. Countless ninja, unable to evade, perished in the attack's aftermath.
When the haze finally settled, a colossal crater spanning several thousand meters scarred the battlefield's center. Kagami and Madara faced each other from the sky, their gazes sharp as torches, poised for an even fiercer confrontation. Though the battle's din was horrifying, it was merely a preliminary test between the two titans.
Suddenly, a chilling premonition gripped Kagami's heart, an indescribable dread flooding through him like a tidal wave. His pupils contracted, the combat instincts honed by the tenfold Sukuna template surging to their peak. Without hesitation, he invoked his Mangekyō ability, warping the distance between worlds, and his figure instantly shifted dozens of meters away.
At the very spot he had stood, a blinding light erupted. The space twisted and tore as if manipulated by an invisible giant hand, emitting a spine-chilling hiss. Had Kagami not reacted swiftly, his body would have been mercilessly shredded in that distorted void.
He knew instantly who wielded such power—Obito!
Kagami's expression darkened. Whirling around, his torch-like eyes locked onto Obito, who emerged slowly from the Kamui dimension not far off. He had just begun to revel in the thrill of battle, only for his mood to sour with this interruption.
A sneer curled on Kagami's lips as he spoke icily, "Obito, you've grown bold! To think you'd dare to kill me!"
Obito's mask concealed his face, revealing only a pair of brooding eyes where the Sharingan spun slowly, brimming with madness and hatred. "I'll never forget that fay! Did you think I'd let it slide so easily?"
Obito scoffed, a tinge of regret in his tone that his sneak attack had missed. On the night of the Uchiha clan's annihilation, Kagami had sliced him into countless pieces. Had he not used Izanagi, survival would have been impossible. That harrowing experience haunted his dreams for weeks, and even now, the memory sent shivers down his spine. Of course, he couldn't let such a grudge go unavenged!
At this, Madara, equally displeased by the interruption, spoke in a low, menacing tone, "Obito, who gave you the right to interfere in my battle with Kagami?" He had been reveling in the fight, only to have his excitement cut short. Murderous intent flashed in his eyes as he glared at Obito. If no satisfactory explanation was offered, he wouldn't hesitate to eliminate him on the spot. Though Obito's Kamui intangibility was troublesome, Madara still held hidden means to control him—a fatal trump card.
Yet Obito, secretly released from Madara's control by the Sage of Six Paths, showed no fear. He turned slowly, his gaze like icy pond water, sweeping over Madara's rage-distorted face. A faint smirk curved beneath his mask. "I merely saw you struggling against Kagami, so I thought I'd lend a hand!"
To Madara, these words were a blatant provocation, a naked mockery. His face darkened like a storm cloud, murderous intent palpable, as if it could rend the very air. "you are overstepping, brat?"
Before he could act, intent on using the Rinnegan to erase the insolent Obito, a deep rift tore through the air before him. The Sage of Six Paths emerged from the void, blocking Madara's line of sight. He regarded Madara coldly, "Enough, Madara! Now is not the time for infighting!"
He had freed Obito from Madara's control to enlist him against Kagami. Though Obito wasn't overwhelmingly powerful, his Mangekyō Sharingan, if used cleverly, could pose a threat. Until Kagami was dealt with, internal conflict was the last thing he wanted.
Seeing the Sage, Kagami realized his duel with Madara would end inconclusively. Madara's expression grew uglier still, anger blazing in his eyes, but a sudden thought seemed to calm him. He shot Obito a chilling glance. "I'll let you linger a little longer."
Noting Madara's compliance, the Sage nodded with satisfaction. "Our primary goal is to defeat Kagami. Other matters can wait." He turned to Kagami, a gentle smile on his lips, yet behind it lurked a chilling, murderous intent. "Apologies, but you're too strong. You don't mind us ganging up on you, do you?"
His tone was light, casual, but each word cut through the air like a honed blade. A breeze passed, and that smile sent shivers through everyone present.
"Hahaha, of course not!" Kagami replied with a faint smile, one hiding cunning and unfathomable depths. "With so many of you here, surely you won't mind if I use a little trick of my own!"
Before his words faded, the once-clear sky darkened as if veiled by a heavy curtain. A thick, inky black canopy descended, enveloping a ten-mile radius with a heart-pounding sense of oppression. The darkness was as deep as an abyss, swallowing all light, even dimming the stars in an instant.
