Chapter 27: Solutions for the financial problems

After spending a few hours at the Great Elder's house, listening to old stories about the Uchiha clan and analyzing the current situation, Uchiha Kira finally said his goodbyes and left.
"Kira! Don't stress too much. You're still young, and you're already amazing! I believe in you! Grandpa just worries too much," Mikoto reassured him on the way home, afraid that their grandfather had put too much pressure on him.
"Haha, don't worry about it," Kira chuckled, reaching out to gently touch her cheek. "I don't feel any pressure. I have confidence in myself."

Uchiha Mika sat in the living room, going over the family's finances. She frowned slightly and turned to Uchiha Ken. "Dear, we're almost out of money. What should we do?"
Honestly, their family had always been well-off. Plus, with Ken's position in the clan, his salary and resources weren't low.
But their expenses were through the roof!
Over the past two years, just the medicinal baths alone had cost a fortune. And in the past six months, they had also been pouring money into building an underground lab for Uchiha Kira.
All of this required serious cash.
"Sigh… headache incoming," Ken groaned, rubbing his temples. "I'll figure out a way to make some money."
If worst came to worst, he could leave the village for a bit and raid a few well-stocked bandit hideouts. That should keep them afloat for a while.
Cutting back on the medicinal baths? Not an option.
Those were crucial for their family's strength and progress.
"If it really comes down to it, we can stop my medicinal baths for now," Ken suggested. "I've already broken into Kage-level. This strength should be enough for the time being."
The kids' needs came first.
"Yeah…" Mika sighed, nodding. "If we have no other choice, I'll stop mine too. I've already reached Elite Jonin level, and my physique has improved a lot. I can hold off for a while."
Ah, the struggles of parents…
"Huh? Making money? Are we running out of funds?"
Just then, Uchiha Kira walked in with Mikoto, looking surprised. "Dad, Mom, you can't cut back on your medicinal baths."
Ken and Mika looked up simultaneously. "Kira, Mikoto, you're back! Don't worry, this isn't something you two need to concern yourselves with. We'll handle it. It's not that big of a deal."
Mikoto, looking a bit guilty, spoke up, "This is my fault. I didn't realize I was such a burden. I'll go ask Grandpa for some money. Also, from now on, I'll cover my own medicinal bath expenses."
She immediately blamed herself for the situation.
"Hey, hey! Stop that!"
Mika quickly stood up, pulled Mikoto close, and ruffled her hair with a smile. "Silly girl, this has nothing to do with you. The cost of your herbs is nothing compared to the real expenses."
"The biggest money sink is Kira. Don't take this on yourself!"
She shot a glare at Uchiha Kira before pulling Mikoto to sit down. "Besides, we're family now. You're one of us. Of course, we'll provide for you. It's only natural."
"You better not ask your grandpa for money. What would that say about us? How would that make our family look?"
"Don't bring this up again, or I'll get mad."
Ken nodded in agreement. "That's right! Mikoto, don't feel guilty. This isn't your fault."
Then, he turned to Uchiha Kira with a skeptical look. "Brat, most of our expenses are coming from your lab. Do you know how expensive all that experimental equipment is? Maybe we should slow things down a bit?"
That stuff cost a fortune and was hard to come by.
"Alright."
Kira couldn't argue. He nodded. "For now, we can make do with the equipment we have."
"Besides, let me handle the money-making part."
"I actually figured we'd be running out of money soon, so I already put together a whole plan. Let me grab it so you guys can take a look and pick out the best options."
With that, he quickly ran upstairs and came back with a thick folder, handing it to his parents.
"Oh?"
Ken and Mika were surprised as they flipped through the pages. "You actually predicted this? And you prepared so thoroughly? Let's see what kind of plans you've got."
As they read, they were quickly drawn in.
"Pharmaceuticals?"
"Brewing high-proof alcohol? You even have a detailed brewing method? This is interesting!"
"A collection of 360 recipes? A plan for opening a chain of restaurants?"
"An improved formula for explosive tags? A fully automated production line for making them?"
"Improving storage scroll technology?"
"A concept for medical talismans…?"
Ken stared at his son in disbelief. "Kid, the first few ideas seem solid, but are you serious about these last ones?"
"I believe you can improve explosive tags, but an automated production line? Isn't that a bit too ambitious?"
"If this actually works, wouldn't it be like printing money?"
"And when did you learn how to make storage scrolls? I don't remember our clan having that kind of expertise."
"As for the medical talismans, that's even crazier. If you actually create these, they'd sell like crazy and even become a strategic resource. But… is this even possible?"
Even Tsunade, the queen of medical ninjutsu, had never proposed something like this, let alone created one.
But deep down, Ken had a gut feeling that his monstrous son just might pull it off.
Mika also frowned slightly. "Leaving aside the more complex stuff, I think the restaurant chain and pharmaceutical business could work. But we'll need a lot of start-up capital. Also, what kind of medicine are you planning to sell? Soldier Pills?"
One thing was certain—starting a restaurant would be expensive.
If they opened one within the Uchiha compound, they could save on rent.
But the Uchiha were notoriously unwelcoming to outsiders. Hardly any non-Uchiha villagers would come here.
Opening a restaurant inside the compound might not be a great idea.
Kira turned to his father. "Dad, isn't the Second Elder in charge of the clan's business affairs?"
...
