Naruto: Becoming Mizukage

Chapter 11: A Small Price to Pay

After being hit directly by Mizuki's powerful Water Dragon Bomb, Kaguya Yuta struggled to rise, coughing and wiping blood from his mouth. But instead of showing weakness, Yuta straightened his back and let out a wild laugh.

"Ha... Mizuki… is that all?" he said confidently, his booming voice filled with arrogance.

The audience was stunned, especially the Kaguya clan members, who were shocked by Yuta's resilience. Even the head of the Kaguya clan, Teru Yoruichi, was taken aback, muttering to himself in disbelief.

Kaguya Yuta, now fully upright, pounded his chest and yelled, "A Mere Mizuki, I'll give you three moves to attack first!" His boldness was palpable, and his display of confidence left everyone momentarily silent before the audience erupted into cheers, especially the Kaguya clan.

Their shouts filled the grounds, their admiration for Yuta soaring. To them, this wasn't just about the battle but about the pride and dominance of their clan.

Kaguya Yuta's actions spoke volumes to his fellow Kaguya. His fearless attitude and the claim that he could defeat Mizuki even after allowing him three moves first reflected the strength and confidence ingrained in their clan. The Kaguya valued brute strength and fearlessness above all, and Yuta's behaviour was the epitome of those traits.

Teru Yoruichi, who besides being the Kaguya clan head, was Yuta's father, was overjoyed. "That's my son!" he thought, overwhelmed by pride.

To him, this was a display of both power and family honour. But the other Jōnin watching the fight weren't as celebratory. They exchanged uneasy glances, wondering just how powerful Yuta had become.

His actions were seen as a humiliating blow to the Mizuki family, and they feared the strength Kaguya Yuta must possess to take such risks in the battle.

For the onlookers, Yuta's physical abilities seemed almost supernatural. The Kaguya clan was known for their Dead Bone Pulse kekkei genkai, which gave them remarkable control over their bones.

But to withstand a powerful Water Dragon Bomb and rise without seeming hurt was another matter entirely. Many Jōnin began to speculate if Yuta's strength had reached the level of a Kage, a thought that weighed heavily on the minds of some, including Yagura, who was watching from the sidelines.

Yagura's eyes narrowed as he watched Kaguya Yuta. It was difficult to assess Yuta's true power based solely on his age and appearance. Still, surviving such an attack head-on suggested that Yuta's physical strength had reached an extraordinary level.

If Yuta's power truly rivalled that of a Kage, Yagura would need to rethink his plans regarding the Kaguya clan and Kirigakure's future.

Mizuki Taki, the current Mizukage, was also troubled. His position in the village had been unstable for some time, and this battle carried more weight than anyone could know.

A defeat for Mizuki Ryosuke, especially a humiliating one, could damage the prestige of both the Mizuki clan and the Mizukage's leadership. Taki began considering the possibility of intervening in the match to save face, though he hoped things wouldn't come to that.

Despite the bold exterior Yuta presented, the truth was far different. Beneath his confident demeanour, Yuta was in pain. His chest throbbed, and he could feel several ribs had been broken by the Water Dragon Bomb.

But his pride and resolve kept him on his feet. He had no choice but to continue. Yuta had already made his declaration and couldn't back down now, no matter how much pain he was in. Even though he knew it was foolish bravado.

The blood trickling from the corner of his mouth was just the surface. Inside, he had swallowed a significant amount of blood from his injuries. But he kept it hidden, knowing that showing any weakness would ruin the image he had projected to the Kaguya clan and the audience.

In his mind, Yuta knew that the situation was grim. Still, he had made up his mind. He couldn't turn back now. The idea of giving Mizuki three free moves was part of his plan long before the fight even began.

Yuta understood the deep pride and arrogance within the Kaguya clan, and he believed this was the only way to save them from their own destructive attitudes.

His clan was too proud, too conceited, and their refusal to see the reality of the world outside of their own strength would eventually lead them to ruin. Yuta had thought long and hard about how to get through to them.

Persuasion and reason wouldn't work—he knew that. The Kaguya only respected strength and dramatic actions. He had stayed up nights thinking of a way to shake his clan out of their arrogance.

Yuta's plan was to intentionally lose this battle, but not just lose—he needed to be utterly defeated. If the Kaguya clan's most promising fighter, their so-called genius, were to be humiliated by a member of the rival Mizuki clan, perhaps they would finally begin to question their ways.

Perhaps they would reflect on their arrogance and stop believing that brute strength alone was enough to secure their future.

But a simple defeat wouldn't be enough to break through the Kaguya's thick-headedness. Yuta needed to be beaten so thoroughly that the entire clan would feel the weight of the loss.

His declaration of "three moves" was designed to set him up for a humiliating downfall. By offering Mizuki Ryosuke an advantage and then being crushed despite that, Yuta hoped to drive the point home in a way that words never could.

As for the personal cost? Yuta didn't care. If he was ridiculed and spurned by his clan, so be it. He had decided that this was a sacrifice he was willing to make for the sake of their future. The Kaguya's twisted sense of pride needed to be shattered for them to survive, and Yuta was willing to destroy his own reputation to achieve that.

The three-move challenge was the beginning of Yuta's plan to dismantle the Kaguya clan's destructive arrogance. He was willing to take on the ridicule and anger that would come with his defeat. To him, it was a small price to pay for the long-term survival of his people. He only hoped that the lesson would be strong enough to make a lasting impact.

As Yuta stood in the arena, maintaining his facade of confidence despite his injuries, he knew that this battle would change everything—for him, for the Kaguya clan, and for Kirigakure.

Whether his plan would succeed, or whether the Kaguya would truly understand the cost of their arrogance, remained to be seen. But for now, Yuta stood tall, preparing to face whatever came next.
