Chapter 3: Truth
"Where are you going" looking at me packing my things Matilda asked.
"Oh sorry I forgot to tell you but I had unlocked my potential in that fire but I was not ready to accept it yet but now I'm and plan to attend the academy now" Spade spoke truthfully because he didn't wish to lie to her.
"Potential... That's quite the reveal and I'm happy that you wish to move forward in life, I still remember my days from the academy would you be interested to listen to my stories" Behind those words she was trying to tell him about how the academy is like but she didn't want to seem too pushy that's why she chose such a roundabout way.
"Sure I'd love to but before that let me tell you something it's about my ability, it increases my senses to an astonishing degree do you know what that means" it was finally time to confront the truth he had to clear things up with her before he leaves despite what it results into he had to end matters related to Spade here only because he wished to live his life on his own terms and not continue to live someone else's
"So you found out" the expression on Matilda's face was that of guilt but she continued to speak "It was not my intention to deceive you I just wished to console you but it seems I've caused more harm then good"
Seeing her like that made Spade want to not go with what he planned to say next but he had to do it no matter how much it hurts.
"Matilda... I'm fine you don't have to be tied down to me and seeing you at ease would be my greatest joy"
Her eyes which were always dazzling were now numb it was the only time Spade has ever seen her like this and he felt it was his fault but continuing this would have been even bigger crime and that was something Spade was not willing to accept
"I understand but what will I do without you, you were everything to me I only dreamed of a life with you do you think it's so easy to forget all that and move on"
Matilda couldn't understand just why were things just keep on getting worse for her what crime did she commit to be put in such a situation but despite all that she understood what was happening was the right thing it was good that it ends now when she still loves him and not after her love for him completely fades away.
"I know it won't be but you know it's for the good of both of us"
She wiped away her tears and now there burned a fire of conviction.
"Fine, do what you want go wherever you want to go I won't stop you but I will wait for you"
"I wish you luck" and with that Spade left.

"Welcome to the Academy, how can I help you" the receptionist said without any particular expression on his face
"I wish to register myself as a One Star" just as the person in front of the counter said this the receptionist's face brightened. The person standing before him was a young man who seemed to be in his late teens from his build, but his appearance was hidden behind a mask.
The mask was a plain, unassuming face covering made of a smooth, matte material. Its surface is a dull white, devoid of any markings, symbols, or adornments. The mask's shape is simplistic, covering the wearer's face from forehead to chin, with two small, circular cutouts for the eyes. The edges are smooth and rounded, fitting snugly against the wearer's skin. A thin, elastic strap secures the mask in place, blending seamlessly into the mask's design. Overall, the mask exudes an air of understated simplicity, drawing no attention to itself as it conceals the wearer's identity.
The receptionist called for a person to guide the masked man and get him registered.
"Please follow me sir" and with that Spade was led to a room with nothing special in particular and asked to place his hand on the a crystal ball, once he touched the ball it started glowing. This was the common way of finding out if someone was a Star or not it worked on a basic principle if Someone with an active soul energy touches it it glows and every Star possess it.
Once it was done the other things went rather smoothly he filled out all the needed documents and was asked to move in the Academy Dorms by next week. They also tried to get details out of him by offering special services like 3 star faculty if his potential is high enough but Spade was still not ready to disclose it.
Having registered himself he didn't take time and got to moving in the Dorms as he had not many things he owned. But that didn't mean he was poor he still had alot of money left from the insurance of his house and parents.
He went back to the local place he was staying at took his belongings and had them shifted to the Dorms. It was not a luxurious room but what can you expect in their eyes Spade was either a One star or Two star potential such low potential individuals are not treated well anywhere in the world of Stars.
Once he was done setting everything in place he sat on the bed and opened his status window

[Brawler] Skill Description: [A skilled fighter with exceptional hand-to-hand combat skills and proficiency in using various weapons, possessing impressive strength, speed, and agility.]
These two are the basic skills possessed by Spade, it was good that atleast one of them was related to combat because outside the barrier such skills held greater value. These skills were different from those which could be learned, they were more like natural talents that individuals possess. But only skills won't help him survive he needed to purchase proper equipment, he just couldn't depend on getting a drop from a monster.
Well we still have a lot of time before the session starts till then why don't I go look around the campus. After all it was the most prestigious Academy in the world exclusively for Stars, many novels and comics were based on the setting of the Academy where a young star enters the academy forms a team go's on adventures with them and becomes a Five Star at the end.
Spade also grew up reading such stories and he might've believed himself to be the hero of such story only if that accident didn't occur to him.
The Academy looked exactly how he had seen it in comics it had a big campus with beautiful scenic view and luxurious facilities even from the perspective of high class individuals of city A.
Looking around Spade saw some other students who had started living here early just like him but they were all giving him the side eye, well I know it looks weird someone walking around in a mask 'what is he an 8th grader' were the exact thoughts of everyone looking at Spade and he didn't need Twilight sense to identify it, it was quite evident on it's own.
'Don't think about it it's necessary' but no matter how much he tried to console himself he still felt embarrassed while wearing a mask. Well it's not like he was hiding something if he was asked to remove his mask for identification he wouldn't mind taking it off.
'Huh... It's enough sightseeing for today, let's head back for now' and with that he came back to his room and got down to the work for which he had enrolled in the Academy early.
It was the access to all the information on monsters, the world outside the barrier and much more. Filling in the necessary details on the website and entering his Star code provided by the academy he logged in as a newbie.
The website treated all stars based on their rank which defined the information accessible to them.
"Hmm... Let's begin with basic knowledge for your first expedition"
