Mythical Three Kingdoms

Chapter 1162: The Northern Huns' Resolve

After Li Jue and others stayed in Parthia for a while, having gathered considerable information, they returned to the Western Regions with the compensations provided to them by the Parthians. Rome and Parthia had already agreed on a ceasefire from April of the coming year to April of the next year.

This made the Parthian King very grateful for the assistance of the Han Dynasty, thus giving Li Jue and his group many things. However, by this time, Li Jue was not as grateful as before; he had come to understand that once you step out of the country, the usual warmth could be restrained.

When Li Jue returned, the Romans also accompanied him to the Han Empire, similar to how Li Jue planned to send people to explore Rome. The Romans were very interested in the Han Dynasty, but Li Jue could not find any Han people who understood the Roman language, while Ganasis found a Roman who understood Chinese.

Ganasis was also a typical decisive person. After completing aggressive negotiations with Parthia, he immediately dispatched a diplomatic mission to Li Jue's location.

In order to demonstrate the grandeur of the Empire, Li Jue did not refuse; on the contrary, he accepted the diplomatic mission with a smile and prepared to send this mission to Liu Bei the following year. As for the Emperor, Li Jue did not care.

Upon reaching the Western Regions, Li Jue immediately assembled a Wusun translation team of a dozen people who understood both Roman and Chinese, appointing Anyue as the head translator and Wux Xi as the leader, and led a group of Roman envoys to Mount Tai, not knowing that Mount Tai was no longer Liu Bei's domain.

However, this did not matter; Li Jue exited Liangzhou and entered Sichuan and Shu, then traveled by ship to Xuzhou, essentially witnessing prosperity along the way.

Although many Roman envoys were unaccustomed to the environment and other reasons, the frequent toil of traveling by ship allowed the Romans to realize the vastness of the Han Dynasty as well as witness its prosperity, from Sichuan and Shu, to Jingzhou, Xuzhou, to Fenggao of Mount Tai!

Upon entering Xuzhou, the wide official roads and the increasingly dense population all shocked the Romans. By the time they reached Mount Tai, although Wux Xi never claimed it to be the capital, all the Romans assumed this to be the imperial capital of the Han Empire.

However, all these events would take place in April and May of the coming year. Currently, Li Jue was still organizing his thoughts to write a letter to Li Youu, detailing every piece of intelligence he obtained at the cost of hundreds of fallen brothers, without including any of his own analysis, merely stating everything he saw.

After finishing, Li Jue ordered several dozen of his trusted aides who knew Li Youu to make sure to deliver this letter to either Li Youu or Jia Xu, believing that once the letter was in their hands, they would surely provide him an excellent path.

Upon completing all this, what Li Jue and Guo Si needed to do was simply wait. Naturally, he would not forget to mention his Legion Talent in the letter, of which he was very proud. This was a Legion Talent, after all, known as the out-of-body Qi, a Legion Talent that doesn't manifest unless needed!

Carrying this letter, several dozen of Li Jue's trusted aides hastened towards Mount Tai with each person partnered with three horses, advancing day and night without rest. Li Jue felt it was very necessary to inform Li Ru about the current situation in Central Asia.

However, at this moment, the Northern Huns received news from within Parthia, stating that the Parthians had defeated the Romans with the help of the Han Army.

"Chanyu, send out the troops and let us wipe out that Han Army; our hatred with the Han Army cannot be washed away even with the waters of the Three Rivers and Five Lakes. Let us annihilate this lone cavalry!" a chief cried out passionately before Huyan Chu.

Huyan Chu was in great agony, as a Chanyu, he truly wanted to contend with the Han people, but he still remembered what the previous generation of Chanyu had told him, not to compete with the Han Dynasty anymore, to preserve the Huns' bloodline and wait for the opportune moment!

"Chanyu, send out the troops! Let us wipe out that Han Army, at least cleanse part of the shame on us!" another chief pleaded bitterly before the Chanyu.

The Northern Huns and the Han Dynasty were blood enemies, a hatred so deep that one side had to be entirely erased from the continent; otherwise, there was absolutely no room for negotiation.

"Chanyu!" All of the chiefs kneeled before Huyan Chu, at this moment, Huyan Chu was filled with bitterness, wondering what capital the remaining 700,000 Northern Huns had to fight with.

Indeed, they were powerful enough to make one-to-one trade-offs with the elite troops of the Han Dynasty. But so what, the Han Dynasty had 50 million people, while the Northern Huns only had 700,000!

"I intend to mobilize troops against the Han Dynasty!" Huyan Chu raised his hand and spoke slowly, "Next year at the beginning of spring, we return to the Eastern Prairie to annex the Xianbei, combine forces to fully attack the Han Dynasty, so be it!"

All the Hun chiefs were aghast; even though they clamored daily about fighting back, they understood that the current Han Dynasty was not something they could contend with.

"Langjuxu Mountain has sunk..." Huyan Chu stated with closed eyes.

"What!" all the Hun chiefs stood up in a frenzy.

"I intend to use the strength of the prairie to wage war against the Han Dynasty!" Huyan Chu coldly gazed at the crowd and said, instead of directly fighting the Han people to the death, it would be better to subdue all the prairie tribes and then lead them all in a fierce attack against the Han Dynasty.

The battle power that a flock of sheep led by a lion could unleash was at least wolf-pack level; at least by sacrificing countless sheep, it would cause massive casualties to the Han Dynasty while reducing the Northern Huns' own losses, for the Northern Huns could not afford such losses now.

"We are willing to follow the Chanyu!" all the chiefs shouted fervently, eyes blazing; they all understood Huyan Chu would not deceive them. Since he said Langjuxu Mountain had sunk, then this former sacred mountain of the Huns had thus vanished in history.

"From today, each tribe's chiefs will move eastward and prepare their warriors. In the coming spring, we will subjugate the Western Xianbei; each tribe's warriors should be ready," Huyan Chu scanned all the chiefs coldly.

Huyan Chu did not wish to engage in a life-and-death fight with Li Jue's Xiliang Iron Cavalry, as even the Chanyu's Imperial Guards of the Northern Huns would lose around three thousand against such elite cavalry, which was not worthwhile!

To be precise, the Northern Huns' Chanyu now understood very clearly that ten Northern Hun warriors leading twenty thousand Xianbei would suffice to grind down the Xiliang Iron Cavalry; there was no need to sacrifice three thousand of their own people. If they were to kill Han people, then they should use others' blood!

At least Huyan Chu was very confident that waging a united war with the prairie tribes against the Han Dynasty would result in far fewer casualties than if the Northern Huns were to single-handedly assault the Xiliang Iron Cavalry.

[We are the noble Northern Huns, different from those trash Xianbei and Wuhuan. Our strength is not just in combat power!] Huyan Chu thought quietly as he looked at all the indignant chiefs, knowing they also had a Chanyu with brains!

[It seems I have reached the point where it is necessary to cultivate a new Chanyu; we can't rely solely on martial prowess, but must have a matching intellect, how unfortunate...] Huyan Chu felt a slight sadness as he watched the indignant chiefs. The Northern Huns had plenty of warriors and knew cohesion, but they were unfortunately lacking in intellect. (To be continued.
