Chapter 41: Kengen?

Back at the dojo, Tahir had already gone in, and he and his guest were greeted after Tahir explained to his master, who just nodded. Food and drinks were spread out. The master had just returned.

Jude was dragged out to teach them the skills he knew. While this happened, the master signaled Tahir to follow him as they headed to the dojo's storage room.

"You should know a lot of places now that you have become a master," the Shadow Fang leader said.

"Not now. You are practically still the head, and I won't be taking over anytime soon," Tahir replied.

"As you wish," was all the Fang leader said, as silence once again took over the room.

They walked farther into the dojo until they stopped in front of a large door.

"We are here," the master said, inputting a code. The door immediately opened, revealing a part of the dojo Tahir hadn't seen before.

"This room... This is where we keep treasures that no dojo master has been able to access. Or should I say, powers that we can't harness," the dojo master said as he handed a box to Tahir.

"Is this box one of them?" Tahir asked, but the leader shook his head.

"This is something the person who said I should take you in gave me. He said I should give it to you whenever we meet," the Fang leader answered.

Tahir closed his eyes for a moment before saying he was hungry and would probably come back later alone. Tahir said as he headed out.

Immediately, they were back at the celebration, and Tahir grabbed a few pieces of food, some meat, and a lot of booze.

"I'll be in my room," Tahir shouted as he walked into his room. As soon as he entered, memories started to flow in. Silver had shown him this room. She had trained with him here. This was where he isolated himself after her death.

"Oh man. I miss you," Tahir said as he filled a small cup with booze and raised it in a toast to Silver before taking a large gulp.

"Now let's see what's inside this box," Tahir murmured.

Immediately, when he took the box with the intention of opening it, a system prompt popped up.

[System artifact found!]

[Commence opening?]

["Yes"/"No"?]

Tahir was confused and muttered, "Yes."

Immediately, there was a click, and the box opened. A small scroll appeared.

Opening the scroll, it was written in a language Tahir couldn't understand.

[Decode language?]

Tahir answered "Yes," and after a few seconds, he could understand everything.

---

Hi, I encrypted the code to make sure only you could access it, or rather, to ensure you already have the system. I'll be telling you about Kengen, something that deals with Qi.

And now, the system will fill the information into your head! Impressive, right? Anyway, to avoid people getting their hands on the scroll, it will self-destruct the same way as the letter that gave you the system. Bye for now. Keep getting stronger, and we might meet soon.

---

As soon as Tahir finished reading the scroll, it started to wither and turn to dust.

System will fill my head with information? Tahir thought. It sure would be impressive if it did.

Immediately after he muttered these words, another prompt appeared.

[Commence information filling on Kengen?]

Tahir muttered "Yes," and information began flooding in.

---

Power System Name: "Kengen" (剣元)

Kengen is derived from the Japanese words "Ken" (剣) meaning "sword" or "blade," symbolizing precision and strength, and "Gen" (元) meaning "origin" or "source," representing the source of one's life force. This name reflects a mastery of life energy, channeling it into both combat and personal growth.

---

The Five Basic Techniques of Kengen:

1. Shin (心) - Heart

Technique: This technique focuses on cultivating and maintaining one's life energy. Users learn to keep their energy from leaking.

Japanese Name: Shin (心), meaning "heart" or "mind," representing the core of one's being and intention.

2. Seki (石) - Stone

Technique: This technique allows users to close off their energy nodes, rendering them undetectable and enhancing their stealth.

Japanese Name: Seki (石), meaning "stone," symbolizing strength and the ability to remain unmovable in a crisis.

3. Ryuu (流) - Flow

Technique: This technique enhances the user's energy output, allowing them to exert greater force in their physical attacks.

Japanese Name: Ryuu (流), meaning "flow" or "current," signifying the dynamic nature of energy and movement.

4. Hatsu (発) - Release

Technique: This is the personalized expression of energy, allowing users to unleash unique abilities based on their inner essence.

Japanese Name: Hatsu (発), meaning "release" or "emit," representing the diverse and powerful manifestations of one's energy.

5. Kuu (空) - Void

Technique: This technique allows the user to extend their life energy in a controlled radius around them, enhancing their awareness of their surroundings. This technique symbolizes the ability to fill the space around oneself with life energy, giving the practitioner heightened spatial awareness and the ability to detect energy fluctuations.

Japanese Name: Kuu (空), meaning "void" or "empty," representing the expansion of one's energy into the surrounding space.

Backstory of Kengen:

In a world where the balance of power is maintained through the mastery of life energy, the Kengen system emerged from ancient warriors who sought to harness their inner strength. Legend says that a powerful sage discovered the art of Kengen by meditating beneath the Great Spirit Tree, learning to connect with the energy of the earth and the cosmos.

This connection allowed them to cultivate their life force and manipulate it into various forms, leading to the creation of the five foundational techniques.

As the centuries passed, Kengen evolved into a revered discipline practiced by elite warriors, mystics, and protectors of the realm. Those who master Kengen can tap into their energy with precision, channeling it into powerful attacks or subtle techniques, embodying the spirit of the sword and the source of life itself.

The balance of power relies on the practitioners of Kengen, as they are the guardians against darkness, ensuring that the essence of life prevails.

"Meet the Shadow Fang master for more details," the system added at the end of the information.

What the hell just happened? Tahir thought to himself as he vividly remembered everything and now knew everything about Kengen.

---

"Hey kid, you know about Kengen now, right? We also know a little, but I want to hear what the master would tell you. Let's go meet him," Bruce said.

As Tahir was heading to the master, excitement and a rush of adrenaline flowed through him. His smirk was becoming more visible on his face.

"Kid, what's with the stupid smirk?" Shaw asked as usual.

Ignoring him, Tahir muttered, "Silver, we're about to get even stronger."

---

At Esha's place, she was alone in her entire compound when she noticed a shadow. This wasn't the first time. She had been noticing it all day. It was as if someone was monitoring her every move.

Not wasting time, she reached for her wrist tag and tapped on Tahir's name. Immediately, Tahir picked up.

"Hi, Esha. Didn't expect to get your call anytime soon. What's wrong?" Tahir asked.

"I'm being followed," Esha said.

"I see. Can you take the person on? If you can, please do so. I'll be with you shortly. The others have complained about similar things. Also, I'd appreciate it if he's caught alive," Tahir said calmly.

"Okay, Tahir. I'll be expecting you," Esha said before hanging up.

I have the upper hand here. The person probably doesn't know my ability, so I just have to enclose him until he passes out from lack of oxygen, Esha thought as she swung into action.

She climbed through the bathroom window and could see the person from above.

The stalker was so focused on the room that he didn't notice when Esha had created her blockade around him.

It took minutes, but soon he began to notice he couldn't breathe. Moving further, he tried to walk, but the same thing happened—he kept walking until he fell to the ground.

It was done. Esha had taken down her target swiftly without him knowing how.

Esha's ability focuses more on assassination—or, should I say, surprise attacks. She always has the upper hand if you don't understand how her ability works. And right now, she just showed us how much the academy has sharpened her skills.

Calling Tahir again, she told him she had taken down her target. He was surprised by how sudden it was but also happy. He knew how hard his friends had trained for this, and now it was starting to pay off.

The others had all called Tahir, and Tahir had given them the same order: take down the enemy if you can.

And right now, Esha was the first to succeed.

'Before I go and take on the enemies, I'd like to talk to the master, perhaps learn more about Kengen. It would be nice to try it out on them,' Tahir thought as a smug smirk started to appear on his face.
