Chapter 104: Chapter 104: Do You Know Why I Dare to Come to the U.S. Alone?
Zeng Shen's breath caught as he read the descriptions of the three new purple cards. Each card seemed better than the last.
The Energy Battleship alone was enough to tempt him to release it immediately, were it not for the inappropriate setting. He was curious to see its grandeur, not necessarily its transformation into a ship maiden.
The second card gave Zeng Shen the feeling of forcibly playing the role of a summoner, with the ability to summon followers from other divine realms, starting at king-grade qualifications. This surprised him.
Of course, surprises often come with pleasant discoveries.
Without the third card's description, Zeng Shen thought the Forced Contract Summoning Scroll would merely gather dust, as everyone else had yet to develop their divine realms.
But it seemed that wouldn't be the case. With 100,000 survival points and the use of the Extraterrestrial Invasion Card, he could invade another divine realm.
100,000 survival points would otherwise allow him to perform a hundred draws on the regular lottery wheel or ten on the purple card wheel.
If he could only visit an outer deity's divine realm once, he asked himself, "Is it worth it?"
Zeng Shen deemed it very worthwhile. The card's description suggested the opponent's strength matched his, with their divine realm's combat strength equal to his own.
This implied they were also a tier-1 deity, incapable of entering his realm. Meanwhile, he could traverse and act freely within the opponent's realm, thanks to his Deity Palace's support.
Moreover, if he used his invisibility, the opponent would struggle to find him unless they had countermeasures.
There was also the possibility of finding king-grade kin or beasts in the opponent's realm, similar to his own king-grade kin, Little Black.
Realizing this, Zeng Shen resolved to save 100,000 survival points each month for invading foreign realms.
After closing his backpack space and lottery wheel, he discreetly practiced Telekinesis on his luggage in the overhead compartment, alternating between rest and eating jerky.
After a day and night of repetition, the plane gently landed at Old Gold Mountain in the U.S.
His Telekinesis now had 300 proficiency points, just 700 shy of reaching intermediate level.
As the plane touched down, Zeng Shen and Kekelin disembarked through the jet bridge.
"Being here feels like being blind," Zeng Shen remarked, feeling a bit out of place.
Kekelin was silent for a moment before saying, "Someone might take over for me and help you get acquainted with the city."
"Who might that be?" Zeng Shen asked curiously.
"Smithson, Jack's assistant, and the one who will question you," Kekelin replied honestly. As they neared the exit, she hesitated before adding, "But he shouldn't trouble you too much before you're of use."
"Understood," Zeng Shen nodded and stepped ahead of Kekelin, emerging into the airport terminal.
The sight of blond-haired, fair-skinned Americans everywhere was novel to him.
Just then, a well-dressed, glasses-wearing young man with an earpiece, accompanied by several burly men in blue police uniforms, approached him.
The young man, speaking fluent Chinese, greeted him with a smile: "Welcome to the U.S., Zeng Shen. I'll be handling your itinerary and accommodation. Let's head to your residence for a meal and some rest."
Confirming the man's identity with Kekelin, Zeng Shen nodded, "Alright."
Soon, they exited the airport to find three large, limo-like vehicles waiting.
"Please, Mr. Zeng," Smithson said, opening a door with narrowed eyes.
Undaunted, Zeng Shen entered the vehicle.
Inside, it seemed to consist of two compartments: one with four uniformed guards, and the other with a long oval table flanked by cushioned seats by the windows.
Taking a seat near the door, Zeng Shen addressed the driver in fluent English, "Hey, buddy, I just passed my foreign language exam. How's my pronunciation?"
"Very good," the driver replied curtly, falling silent afterward.
Unfazed, Zeng Shen continued asking the driver various personal questions, to which the driver occasionally gave cold replies.
Outside, Kekelin attempted to join them but was stopped by Smithson's men.
"Miss Kekelin, your task is complete. Please accompany us to another vehicle."
She paused, exchanged a brief glance with Zeng Shen through the window, then forced a smile, "Mr. Zeng, my task here is done. Goodbye."
"Stay in touch," Zeng Shen replied, shaking his phone slightly.
"Okay."
Kekelin nodded and turned to board another vehicle with the police officers.
Smithson watched her sensuous, serpentine figure, licking his lips slightly before joining Zeng Shen inside.
"I admire your courage and hope you'll be wise enough to tell me where these photos were taken," he said, placing photos of the jade mine Zeng Shen had sent to Jack on the table.
"Not even five minutes into the drive, and you're dropping the pretense," Zeng Shen remarked lazily.
Smithson's eyes grew cold, his tone no longer polite: "Let's not waste time. Or do you prefer some pain before cooperating?"
"I don't like threats," Zeng Shen replied.
"Nor do I, as long as you tell us the mine's exact location."
"If you want the mine's location, have the raw material suppliers sign a one-year contract with me. I'll tell you the jade's exact location after a year," Zeng Shen proposed.
Smithson's eyes narrowed with a cold smile, "A year is too long, too many uncertainties. Show us your sincerity first."
"My presence here isn't enough? Your attitude is what's off-putting. Let's talk again after I see your sincerity," Zeng Shen said, glancing at the pedestrians waiting at the traffic light, then addressing the driver in fluent English: "Buddy, stop at the light, I'll get off here."
"You think you can just leave?" Smithson sneered.
"Have you heard of hypnosis, controlling someone with just one sentence?" Zeng Shen smiled.
"Hypnosis?" Smithson scoffed, "That's for fools. I've never seen anyone hypnotize with just a sentence."
With a "squeak," the vehicle stopped at the traffic light, the door opened, and Smithson's unfinished words caught in his throat.
"See, now you have," Zeng Shen quipped, stepping out and blending into the crowd crossing the street.
