My step-sister is a villainess!? Don’t be ridiculous! I’ll never forgive those who slandered my sister!

Chapter 6 - Revenge 6

I won’t let the crown prince off the hook easily.

The crime of harming my sister warrants punishment far harsher than what the others received!

Let them live in disgrace, struggling and suffering for their entire lives, but they can never die. Death is not permitted.

Endure the suffering for a long time.

Preparations for this have already been made.

All that’s left is to expose them at the right moment.

That alone will seal the crown prince’s downfall.

“impossible… How could this happen?”

“What’s going on here, Your Highness? These are documents you approved.”

“Well… but…”

“Forgery, embezzlement, none of these can be excused!”

Thud!

Stacking evidence documents on the crown prince’s desk.

“This is nonsense!”

The crown prince pleads innocence, but it’s futile.

After all, the documents bear the crown prince’s own signature.

Handwriting analysis has already been completed.

Well, some of them I fabricated.

But not all.

The evidence includes items from the crown prince’s student days.

“Do you think I’m showing you these without any evidence? What I have here is just the tip of the iceberg. Do you understand why embezzlement and document forgery from your student days never came to light until now?”

Yes, all the expenses that were supposed to be gifts to your fiancée have disappeared as gifts to that woman.

It’s blatant embezzlement.

And on top of that, there were false declarations.

“His Majesty the King seems to value you greatly. Despite being criticized by ministers and bureaucrats who knew the truth, he’s been covering up your mess. However, this has completely shattered the country’s trust. ‘Despite being engaged, she was abandoned, falsely accused, and ultimately forced to drink poison.’ Royal families and high-ranking officials in other countries are aware of this. The truth is starting to be spoken by people from other countries to the citizens.”

“T-That’s…!”

The Crown Prince’s expression pales rapidly, descending into despair.

It seems he’s finally realized.

Too late though.

The punishment for the nobles who disparaged my sister is done.

The truth is gradually spreading through the streets not from the royal family, but from the mouths of officials in other countries.

The king, who secretly covered up the crown prince’s actions.

Like father, like son.

Despicable.

“All the sins have been exposed now. Shouldn’t we quietly accept the consequences? That is, if you have any dignity as a member of the royal family. You understand what I’m saying, don’t you?”

The Crown Prince’s eyes began to fill with despair.

Ha!

Maybe memories of speaking similarly to my sister have resurfaced for him.

Although, unlike him, I’m speaking politely and kindly, not raising my voice crudely like the man before me.

He must have sensed his impending doom.

The Crown Prince collapsed to his knees as if his world was crumbling.

How does it feel to be betrayed by your most beloved wife, close aides, and friends?

Even the king, who should have been your greatest protector, couldn’t salvage the situation as his influence waned too much.

Their deaths are inevitable for regaining the country’s trust.

As I watched the sobbing crown prince, I sneered.

Many were punished following the incident involving the Crown Prince’s wife.

Nobles, clergy, commoners.

Punishment was meted out equally regardless of status.

Those close aides and their families who were involved in an affair with the Crown Princess were executed.

The temple authorities who were overseeing the Crown Princess also suffered a loss of authority, and anyone even remotely associated with them was excommunicated by the Pope.

Furthermore, the nobles who supported the Crown Prince’s marriage were demoted by two ranks and had the majority of their wealth confiscated.

While some could barely maintain their noble status at the level of counts, those below were reduced to commoners.

Even commoners were involved in this affair.

There were charges of disrespect toward the Duchess, and it became clear that false statements had been made to other nobles and the royal family.

Perhaps these commoner students simply wanted to support the commoner Crown Princess, but lies are still unacceptable.

It’s evident that their lies contributed to my sister’s demise to some extent.

While they were executed, their families were spared punishment because they were commoners.

Still, they probably face rejection from society, living every day nervously. Some even resorted to mass suicide.

This is the result of the Crown Prince’s blind love for a woman of lower status.

This tragic outcome left the already dwindling authority of the royal family unable to cope.

Even the prominent families who supported the Saint have fallen from grace.

Most of the nobility have been stripped of their power.

Under our house, the Pezzalot Ducal House, have taken steps to restore the country’s trust.
