My SSS-Rank Dungeon: Reborn In A Reverse World

Chapter 121: I'm Scared

When one plays a Chess Match, they try to eliminate the queen of the opponent as soon as possible because they know the danger it possesses.

In the Grand Game of Jade Cross and her enemies, Amber was that queen. But things didn't end there, as she could also become a Knight, a Rook, or any other piece depending on how she moved.

She was an unpredictable piece on the board, one that wouldn't hesitate to do absolutely anything to win. She was like a towering wall between the enemies and their objectives, yet she could also bend and twist herself to defend when the situation demanded it.

That was why this Queen needed to be removed, and when one tries to do such a thing, they need to scheme carefully, plan thoroughly, and move many steps ahead.

Or they could use the previous moves as the foundation to form a deeper scheme.

That was exactly what they were doing, and Leon saw through it the moment he sensed the slight change in Amber's voice. This had been their plan all along.

The girl was murdered because of Amber.

If Leon could figure it out, then Amber certainly could as well and that was the worst part. A student had died because her enemies wanted to strike directly at her, and that truth would deliver a terrible blow to her mental state.

[So you finally noticed it, huh. Yes, this is their scheme. I'm sure of it.]

"Then why are you playing right into their hands?" Leon shouted, not caring in the slightest that she was his teacher.

[You think it's something I can control?]

Leon fell silent. Indeed, even if she knew everything, that knowledge alone wouldn't change the outcome of events.

[Also, I'm fine.]

"You expect me to believe that?" Leon scoffed, his voice sharp.

He didn't even know why he was so angry at her, but the thought of Amber going through all this suffering alone made his chest feel unbearably heavy.

[Wait a second!]

A chilling scream followed, which was abruptly silenced, and then the call was disconnected. Before Leon could even process what was happening, Amber stepped out of thin air, appearing right before him.

Leon stumbled back in surprise as she pushed forward. After a moment, he came back to his senses and also stepped forward until both of them stood extremely close to each other.

They could feel each other's breath as their eyes locked in a silent staring contest. Neither spoke, but it was as if they were having a deep conversation through their eyes alone.

"You do know that women are most vulnerable during these times?" Amber spoke in a hushed tone, as though she was suppressing something raging inside her.

"What of it?" Leon leaned forward, letting their foreheads touch each other.

"Then, do you know you're very dangerous to these women?" Amber grinned faintly, still staring into his eyes, searching for something hidden there. "Don't make me lose control of my emotions."

"Pent-up emotions aren't good either, so throw them at me," Leon said, caressing the back of her head with steady hands. "Don't hold them back."

"I'm wild, reckless, careless about my life, unpredictable, crazy, a demoness who loves to play with madness," Amber whispered, her hand reaching for his neck as her voice dropped low. "My emotions are the same. In fact, they're boosted to the max. Are you sure you can handle this?"

"Why don't you try it and find out?" Leon's tongue darted across his lips as his voice turned husky. "I understand you the most. I know the real you even if you never say it aloud. So please, allow me to share the burden of your emotions. I'm willing to carry them, no matter how heavy they are."

"I'm scared," Amber suddenly said, surprising both of them.

Scared.

It was a word that didn't exist in Amber's dictionary. Yet, that word had just left her lips.

Amber bit her lip and said, "I'm a mess, Leon, but still a mess of my own making. I've handled all of it by myself my entire life… except once."

"Your Master?" Leon asked, interlocking his fingers gently with her hand.

Amber nodded lightly. "Yes, and it didn't end well. I'm scared of doing the same to you. You say that I'm straightforward, so let me be straight with you. I like your presence and your company. Whenever I'm around others, there's always a wall between us, even if it's very thin. I've had people try to break that wall or jump over it. But you…"

She paused and smiled faintly, feeling the warmth of his hands. "You never do that. You always lean against the wall and make me feel alive from there. They don't understand that I need that wall to remain me. If that wall breaks, Amber Frost will die. None of them understand this, but you do. You see right through it all."

She chuckled softly and added, "You're younger than me, and power-wise you don't even come close to me. Yet when I talk to you, it feels like I'm talking to someone equal."

Leon didn't interrupt her. He simply listened to every word, his silence becoming the space she needed to pour out feelings she had never spoken before.

She was frustrated, overwhelmed, and her mind was a complete mess. It wasn't new for her, she had always faced everything alone. But now, for the first time in her life, she had a bright light beside her, a presence that accompanied her.

That was all she had ever wanted, and that was when she realized why she came here, to tell him everything. And so he listened.

She talked for several minutes before finally raising her head and asking, "Do you realize the impact you've had in my life despite us meeting for such a short time?"

"Isn't that a good thing?" Leon smirked faintly.

"No, it's not," Amber shook her head. "I'm scared, Leon. What if I ended up killing you too?"

Leon furrowed his brows as he sensed there was more behind her words, but he chose not to press her on it just yet.

Instead, he cupped her face with both hands and said with a soft grin, "Am I not your student? Then teach me everything, including how to handle your emotions."

"So, you really won't back out?" Amber asked, her eyes brimming with hope even as her emotions threatened to overwhelm her.

"I should be the one asking that, because I've already long decided to pursue you," Leon said, slowly pushing forward as she instinctively stepped backward. "You're not in your right mind right now, so are you sure you won't back out later?"

"Haha!" Amber suddenly laughed. "Have I ever told you a wonderful fact about me, brat?"

"What?"

"I'm never in my right mind," Amber said with a crazed grin on her beautiful face. "You're planning to date an insane psycho, so really, you're the one who's not in the right mind."

"Whenever I'm around you, your eyes make me lose the ability to think straight anyway."

"Haha! A couple of insane idiots!"

"Also, who said I'm planning to date you?" Leon teased, and while Amber frowned at his words, he continued. "I plan to bring you in as my wife."

"Smooth!!!" Amber laughed again, this time with tears brimming in her eyes for reasons even she couldn't explain.

Leon smiled, feeling relieved as he listened to that melodious laughter. He stared at her face and felt a sudden heat rising inside him as his heart pounded violently against his chest. He whispered softly, his words like silk.

"Deals are often sealed with a handshake, but dates are sealed with a kiss."

Amber felt a rush of helplessness flood through her. His smooth, velvety voice was so close that it made her whole body tingle.

The warmth of his hands sent surging waves of heat through her body. She was shocked to realize that just his touch alone could make her feel so much. Since when had she become so sensitive? Why was she so helpless against him?

But for once, she didn't mind being helpless.

His emerald green eyes were pulling her in as though there was a magnetic force drawing her closer. They beckoned her to lean in, to give in, and she did, ever so willingly, falling under the spell of his gaze.

Both of them felt every pore of their body awaken when Leon bent his head and kissed her lips.

It was soft at first, as though he hesitated for just a moment. But slowly, the kiss deepened, graduating in intensity until Amber's blood boiled with excitement.

Leon had only intended to tease her a little, but who could have known that he would awaken the wild fox hidden inside her?

The kiss grew more intense, their hands wandering across each other's bodies. The passionate, wet sounds of lips contending filled the room as they melted into each other completely.

Leon pushed Amber against the wall while she jumped and wrapped her legs tightly around his waist. His hands went down, gripping her firm buttocks, feeling their shape even through the fabric of her clothes.

Meanwhile, Amber felt like she was drowning in his embrace. The way his hands stirred excitement in her made her giddy down to her very core.

Her fingers tangled in his hair, roaming across his neck and scalp. Even in this heated state, she tried to control her overwhelming strength, but it was becoming harder with every moment his tongue wandered deeper inside her mouth.

The kiss was full of passion, wildness, and madness, two storms colliding as neither of them wanted to let go.
