Chapter 224: Hang Clothes? No!
The experiment was very successful, and soon Lin Yifan had lit the tinder; now that there was Fire Seed, he immediately added more firewood to build up the fire.
A little while later, a campfire was formed, and An Qi was finally able to warm herself.
"You big pervert! You're awesome!" An Qi couldn't help but blurt out a compliment.
To tell the truth, she had no confidence in starting a fire with a battery either, as it was too dependent on luck. A slight mishap could result in failing to start a fire or, worse, injuring herself. It was very risky.
"It's a piece of cake, not worth mentioning at all," Lin Yifan brushed off his hands in response and then said, "Now that we have a fire, I'll make a rack for drying clothes in a bit."
"A rack for drying clothes?" Hearing about this thing, An Qi's pale face suddenly flushed with shyness.
After a moment of silence, she hesitated and stuttered, "Yifan, can we not make a rack?"
"Why not? Your clothes are so wet; don't you want to dry them?" Lin Yifan asked, puzzled.
"I do want to dry them; but, as a girl, if I take off… take off all my clothes, and Chi Luo sits in front of you, wouldn't that be a bit inappropriate?" An Qi responded in an embarrassed and coy manner.
"Uh..." Lin Yifan indeed felt it was a bit inappropriate; however, the thought of seeing An Qi, the beautiful girl, in her alluring figure was too tempting to resist, so he said, "What's inappropriate about it? In the end, it's a matter of seeing sooner or later."
"No way! Before we're married, I cannot sacrifice my modesty for anyone," An Qi immediately retorted, rejecting the idea.
"Not even for me, your future husband?" Lin Yifan challenged.
"No! If you want to see my jade body, you have to marry me first," An Qi flatly refused, leaving no room for negotiation.
Seeing that An Qi was so firm in her stance, Lin Yifan had no choice but to give up that wicked idea, and then suggested, "How about this? I'll dry my top first and lend it to you to wear; then you can take off your clothes and dry them. How about that? Can you accept it?"
An Qi thought about it and felt that the method wasn't bad, so she replied, "Given the circumstances, that's the only way."
Getting her response, Lin Yifan immediately went into the jungle, snapped a few small tree branches, and then pulled some vines back with him.
The vines were very flexible and could be used as rope.
After preparing the materials for the rack, Lin Yifan started to make a clothes-drying rack next to the campfire.
First, he made two sixty-degree angle supports in an "X" shape; then, he secured them into the sandy ground and laid a long log across the top. Just like that, a makeshift clothes-drying rack was successfully completed.
Once he was done, Lin Yifan immediately took off his top; he wrung out the water first before placing it on the rack to dry.
Seeing Lin Yifan easily finishing the clothes rack, An Qi admiringly asked, "You big pervert! How come you know how to do everything?"
"In the military, you need to cultivate various skills, otherwise, how would you go into battle and kill the enemy?" Lin Yifan asked with a smile.
"Do you military people know how to do everything?" An Qi asked curiously.
"Going into battle to kill the enemy is our skill, but when it comes to technological research and development, we might not be as good as you brainy folks," Lin Yifan replied.
In the military, they used weapons developed by scientists and technicians. Without these people, they probably would have suffered heavy casualties; so, the military was not all-powerful.
"I see, I thought you military people were capable of everything," An Qi said, and then she inquired, "You big pervert! Do you think someone will come to rescue me?"
"Do you still have your phone?" Lin Yifan asked in return.
"It's gone, I must have dropped it when those kidnappers were moving me onto the boat," An Qi answered.
"That's troublesome, sigh!" Lin Yifan frowned in distress, sighing over and over.
If An Qi's phone had been intact, Zhou Jiajia at the company could have used the satellite positioning system to find their location and thus send rescue, but now that the phone was lost, they feared there was no way.
"Why is it troublesome that I don't have my phone?" An Qi asked curiously.
"Do you know how I followed you here? It was all thanks to the positioning system on your phone, and now that it's gone, Jiajia can't track our location anymore," Lin Yifan replied.
"So that's how it was," An Qi realized, and then she asked anxiously, "What do we do now?"
"One word, wait! We wait until a boat passes by, and then we can signal for help; only then will we have a chance to escape this deserted island," Lin Yifan answered.
"Really? How long will that take?" An Qi was somewhat reluctant.
No showers, no big soft beds, no tasty meals, how can one survive this?
"It could be a brief wait, or it could take days, even months; there's no certainty, it's up to luck," Lin Yifan replied.
In this vast ocean, he also didn't know if any fishing boats would pass by.
"Months? Am I going to turn into a savage? Woohoo!!! I don't want to become a savage." The thought of a savage's filthy appearance made An Qi burst into tears, utterly distraught.
No toilet, no tissues, no big bed, no boiled water—such a life was too terrifying to even imagine.
"Don't be so despairing and pessimistic, this sea area is close to South Baisha Wharf, there should be plenty of fishing boats passing by; I believe a fishing boat will pass by tomorrow," Lin Yifan came over to comfort An Qi's frightened heart.
"Really? Big pervert! You better not be lying to me." An Qi's heart, previously in despair, seemed to see a glimmer of hope, and she immediately stopped crying.
"Why would I lie to you? If no fishing boats pass by tomorrow, I'll become a tracker and pull you away from here," Lin Yifan replied.
"Pfft! Me, and plus a jet ski, you think you can pull that off?" An Qi was amused and laughed.
"It's just a jet ski and a beautiful lady, nothing so formidable, I, Lin Yifan, can handle it with ease," Lin Yifan answered confidently.
"Always quick with the quips," An Qi teased coquettishly.
With Lin Yifan's jesting, she was no longer feeling pessimistic and sad. Calming her emotions, she then said, "Fine! I'll trust you this once; if no fishing boat passes by tomorrow, then you'll have to strain yourself and pull this beautiful lady back."
"Okay! No problem," Lin Yifan agreed readily.
In truth, he had no idea if a fishing boat would pass by the next day; but he knew that the immediate priority was to soothe the fearful and frightened An Qi, and the rest could wait until tomorrow.
"Gurgle! Gurgle!"
After a while, An Qi's stomach suddenly started growling, clearly hungry.
"Big pervert! I'm so hungry! Is there anything to eat here?" An Qi inquired.
Now she felt weak all over, dizzy, and very uncomfortable. Since she had only had a bottle of milk and a pork bun from morning till around three or four in the afternoon, and now the calories from that pork bun and milk were long gone, she was very hungry.
