My Sexy Female CEO

Chapter 223: Battery Catches Fire

"It began with a liking for your body, and then grew into liking you as a person. The first thing I could see was your external appearance, so it's true that I was initially attracted to your body. In life, people with stunning bodies don't always have good hearts; through working with you for this period, I've discovered your unique charm. Though sometimes you can be willful and capricious, at heart you are kind and caring. So now, it really is because I like you as a person that I like you." Lin Yifan answered sincerely.

Seeing such earnestness, An Qi let out a sigh of relief and said with a beaming smile, "On the strength of your sincerity, I'll choose to trust you this time."

Having obtained the answer he wanted, there was no longer any need for concern.

"Does that mean you agree to living life with Jiajia and me?" Lin Yifan asked tentatively. Happiness had come so unexpectedly that he was unsure how to accept it.

"Anyway, Jiajia is the person I'm closest to, and living with her would be fine; however, I'm a bit curious. Can you handle the nightlife with both me and Sister Jiajia?" An Qi asked shyly.

This question was a bit too adult-oriented; but now that she had come of age, there was no need to feel embarrassed, since it concerned her own happiness.

"Do I look like someone who's weak and collapses in a second with this bear-like waist and tiger-like back, full of energy?" Lin Yifan flexed his muscular arm as he retorted, the answer obvious without saying.

Gazing at Lin Yifan's robust figure, An Qi felt confident that he could satisfy the happiness of two women; thus she declared, "Alright! From now on, Jiajia and I will exhaust you, you big pervert, and see if you dare to be this lustful in the future."

"Sure thing! I'm happy to oblige!" Lin Yifan embraced An Qi, the beauty in his arms, his heart brimming with solace, marveling at how quickly he had gained another.

"But what about Su Qingqing and Li Xiangmei?" Lin Yifan pondered inwardly, then sighed and concluded, "I'll just have to take it one step at a time."

"Ah... Achoo!"

After hugging for a while, An Qi suddenly sneezed, obviously having caught a chill.

Her clothes were soaked and she was starving, which made her resistance low.

"Babe, are you cold?" Lin Yifan asked with concern.

"Yes! I'm so cold! What should we do?" An Qi replied.

"Wait here for me. I'll find us a place to rest and then start a fire for you," Lin Yifan explained.

"How are you going to make a fire without a lighter?" An Qi inquired curiously.

"I have my own way," Lin Yifan replied teasingly.

"Do you want me to help you collect some dry wood?" An Qi offered.

"No need. Just sit here and wait for me. I can handle these rough tasks," Lin Yifan reassured her.

"Then be careful," An Qi advised.

"Got it! I know."

With that, Lin Yifan went in search of a resting spot.

After a while, he found a good resting spot on a beach. There was a big tree providing shade, protecting from the sun and rain and offering some shelter from the sea breeze—a nice place to settle down.

Once he found the resting place, Lin Yifan immediately headed into the island's jungle to gather dry firewood.

He collected the firewood quickly.

Then, he hurried back to the beach to fetch An Qi.

An Qi was touched; being protected by the man she loved felt exhilarating.

At the shelter, An Qi sat on a flat stone and curiously asked, "Yifan, what will you use to start the fire? Don't tell me you'll use the ancient method of drilling wood to make fire?"

"Living in modern times, of course I'll use modern methods to make a fire," Lin Yifan replied cryptically.

"How are you going to use modern methods to start a fire on this deserted island? You don't have a lighter or flint and steel, those modern things," An Qi questioned with great curiosity.

"There are many modern ways to start a fire, not just limited to flint and lighters," Lin Yifan countered.

"So, what will you actually use to make fire?" An Qi couldn't wait to know the answer.

Lin Yifan pulled out a water-damaged, dead mobile phone from his pocket and answered, "I'll use this to make fire!"

"A phone? You're going to use a phone to start the fire?" An Qi exclaimed, quickly catching on to something.

"Yes! Using the phone to make fire," Lin Yifan confirmed.

"I see! Sneaky fox, that's brilliant! Only you would think of that!" An Qi raised her thumb in approval.

"Working at a mobile phone company, if I couldn't even think of this, that would be embarrassingly incompetent," Lin Yifan replied.

"Are you saying that I'm embarrassingly incompetent?" An Qi's expression changed, and she became annoyed.

"My darling is the boss of a mobile phone manufacturer, how could she not know about starting fires with phone batteries," Lin Yifan began seriously, but quickly turned mischievous, "Just her mind's a bit waterlogged right now, and she couldn't think of it for the moment."

"You… You jerk, go to hell!" After saying that, An Qi grabbed a handful of sand and threw it at him.

Lin Yifan swiftly dodged, although he still got a bit on him.

Changing his tone, he placated, "Okay! Okay! I was just joking! My darling is the best; she obviously had thought of using a phone battery to start a fire, she simply didn't want to mention it."

"Hmph! That's more like it!" Satisfied, An Qi slowly put down the handful of sand she was about to throw.

After pacifying An Qi's mood, Lin Yifan began to work on starting the fire.

He gathered some easily combustible dried coconut husk for tinder and then pried open the back cover of the phone battery. Using a sharp stone, he peeled off the metal casing to expose the innards of the battery. This would cause the lithium metal inside to react violently with oxygen in the air, generating heat. With heat and oxygen, fire could be kindled.

The moment the lithium metal was exposed to air, a strong chemical reaction ensued, releasing a surge of heat that frightened An Qi, causing her to flee for fear of an explosion.

This type of incident could be serious. If pushed to that point, the battery could indeed explode. Failing to take cover could result in injury.

Lin Yifan, however, was much more composed, protected as he was by his cultivation power. Even if he were to be injured, it wouldn't be severe. Besides, he didn't think the battery would explode, as he had made a small opening, which wouldn't cause all the lithium metal to react at once. As long as the reaction wasn't too intense, an explosion was unlikely to happen.

The next moment, Lin Yifan quickly covered the chemically reacting lithium battery with the prepared tinder, hoping that the heat generated would ignite it.
