My second life as a swordsman

Several years have passed since my rebirth in this new world, and I've come to understand it better. The world of Erathian is vast, with many kingdoms and empires. I live in Astalia, one of the strongest kingdoms in the north, ruled by the Kristoffar royal family.

Our World: Erathian

At first, this world seemed incredibly complicated to me. The continent is divided between imperial systems and independent kingdoms. The kingdoms are not under the rule of the empires, but each has its own lands and laws, while the empires compete for control and influence over border regions.

The Noble Families of Astalia

Astalia is composed of seven noble families, of which the Delfaro family was once a part. Unfortunately, with the decline of their power, the family's prestige has waned. The six other families include:

Each of these families has a long history and a powerful position in the kingdom, but sadly, the Delfaro family has been forgotten by the people.

Daily Training

Each of us had our own training regimen in the palace. I felt a tremendous pressure these days. While my siblings were training for duels, I had to learn something completely foreign to me: how to use spiritual energy.

Training with the Masters

At the start of every day, our instructors would gather us and begin explaining how to harness spiritual energy. I wasn't used to this kind of power. In my previous world, I was used to magic that came from books and knowledge, but here, the power required immense physical effort.

The Duel Instructor would always shout at us:

"Spiritual energy is the core of your strength! You must first control your body before you can direct this energy!"

My First Training Session with Kaid

I decided to start training with Kaid, my older brother. At first, I felt utterly defeated. I couldn't match his strength. His body was stronger, as though he had endless energy. The blows rained down on me from every direction, each one hurting more than the last.

Kaid: (smiling with a teasing grin)

"Is that all you've got? You have to be stronger than this!"

I said, panting for breath:

"I… I wasn't like this before."

He struck again from behind, a blow that knocked me to the ground. But I got up quickly, determined to continue. I didn't want to be weak in this new world. But I knew it wouldn't be easy.

Ila and Alan: Different Challenges

After my training with Kaid, I decided to keep pushing. Ila, my third sister, watched me closely. She knew exactly how spiritual energy worked and how to use it. While she was strong, she had something else that made her stand out: intelligence in combat.

Ila:

"If you want to be strong in this world, you have to understand how to use your spiritual energy. It's not just about strong hits; it's also about timing."

As for Alan, the fourth brother, he had a very calm personality, but his strength was intimidating. He was different from the rest of us; he seemed to observe things in silence, but when it came to fighting, he turned into a ruthless force.

Lessons on Monsters and Spiritual Energy

Later that day, we had a lesson about monsters. Our instructor taught us about the types of monsters we might encounter and how to interact with them using our spiritual energy.

Instructor:

"In our world, monsters are a part of everyday life. Some monsters can pose a real threat to us. Learn how to enhance your spiritual energy to defend yourselves."

Some of the monsters mentioned in the lesson ranged from night wolves that lived in dark forests to ice dragons that resided in the snowy peaks.

Training with the Twins: Laks and Laura

There wasn't much time for rest, as every time I made progress, there were more challenges ahead. I noticed that the twins, Laks and Laura, were working hard in their training as well. But Laura tended to show off more, boasting about her strength.

Laura: (with a proud smirk)

"I think I'm the only one here who could defeat everyone in an instant."

But Laks was calm, focusing on every movement and executing it with precision.

End of the Chapter

At the end of the day, we gathered with our father Siron, who seemed more serious than usual.

Siron:

"We will restore the Delfaro family's glory. With each one of you, we will return to our rightful place."

I felt a sense of determination rising within me after those words. The road may be long, and the training difficult, but I was certain I would reach my goals in the end.
