My Pro Boxer System

Chapter 42: Hang Out(1)

I watched my homeroom teacher kiss Chris passionately before stepping into the cab. I blinked for a second. I couldn't believe it was her, but it really was but there wasn't any doubt in my mind that it was. Personally, I couldn't care less who she was seeing, but her being here meant she had seen my match.

I didn't dwell much on it. I'd just show up at school next Monday and see what happens. It was currently Friday night. I planned to use the weekend to get some more training in. I quickly took a cab and headed home.

When I got home, Mom and Thalia were curled up on the couch watching a movie. Thalia was passed out, lying on Mom while she tried her best not to wake her, even though I knew for a fact her arms were numb.

I smiled watching the two of them. I liked how close they were, especially since at this age, "mom and daughters" would usually be getting into constant quarrels. My mom and Thalia were different. They were always close.

"You look tired," Mom commented with a happy smile when she saw me. She then patted a small space on the couch. "Come sit with us for a bit."

I wanted to refuse, but seeing how cheerful she was, I had no choice but to give in. She was smiling cheekily as I came over to the couch, and I already knew what she had planned, but I played along. The moment I sat down, she pulled me down beside her and Thalia. She then wrapped her arms around me to make sure I couldn't escape.

I thought she would bombard me with questions about where I'd been and what I'd been doing, but instead, she gently patted my head. She was curious, but I appreciated that she didn't pry. Time passed and after a while, I was tasked with carrying Thalia to her room, so I scooped her up and went upstairs.

"Mmph… no, you dummy… waffles…" she mumbled in her sleep.

After I carried her back to her room, I went back to mine and collapsed on the bed, already feeling a bit drowsy.

BZZZ!

BZZZ!

My phone buzzed in my pocket, and the screen lit up with a message.

[You have been added to the group Dammable World]

A group chat? At the same time, another message came in from Adam addressed to me.

[Hey, Liam. We're hanging out tomorrow. No excuses this time. Cassian and Ken have already agreed to come, and there will be a few others. What do you say?]

Well, I did promise that I would join them next time they went out.

[Sure]

[Great! Meet us at the mall at 12.]

So I'll be hanging out with the others tomorrow, huh? Well, whatever.

The next morning, I got up to leave the house. My mom had gone to work, and Thalia was still in her room. From her loud laughter wafting through the house, it seemed like she was talking on her phone.

I went for a three-hour run, then finished up my daily quest, which was the same as yesterday's. When it was almost time for me to meet up with Adam and the others, I went home to have a shower and then left the house for the mall.

I wore a white t-shirt with a black jacket over it, paired with black pants. I examined my appearance in the mirror, and man, I really looked different from how I did months ago. I looked like the type of guy girls would read about in tabloids. I'd been getting a lot more stares lately at school, and I could hear a few whispers going around.

Having good looks is okay in my opinion, but it's best served in a fantasy world. The real world was a bit of a drag. After I finished checking my appearance in my room mirror, I left the house and headed to the mall.

We had arranged to meet at the same café we did before at 12 p.m. I was a bit early, so I went to the café and secured a seat for us. I opened my phone and began reading a web novel I had picked up earlier. It was about a game addict who transmigrated into one of his games as a side character. His goal was to conquer as many women as possible.

The story was cliché, but it was truly one of the best I'd read in a long while. I was so engrossed in the book that I blocked out everything around me. When I finally glanced up, I noticed someone sitting across from me.

It was Kiki. She was also scrolling through her phone. We hadn't spoken since she confronted me about being friends with Cassian and Ken. I got the feeling she saw me as some lowlife nerd who wasn't fit to be their friend. Things like that were normal. Since I started high school, I was constantly being looked down on.

She didn't say a word, so I didn't either.

"Um… I'm going to order something. Do you want anything?"

For a second, I froze. I couldn't believe she was talking to me. She certainly didn't look like she was. She was still staring at her phone as if she hadn't even spoken in the first place, but I decided to answer her anyway.

"Uh, yeah. I'll have a grape juice."

She glanced up at me, then waved her hand to signal the waiter. Soon, a cute girl wearing a traditional maid outfit hopped over to us.

"Can we get a strawberry smoothie and a grape juice, please?" she told the maid. Her tone evidenced that she had practice. I didn't know much about Kiki, but her designer bags and clothes screamed rich girl.

The maid wrote down the order on a notepad, then left after giving a slight bow. After a while, the maid came back and placed our drinks on the table. Kiki took a sip of her drink, and a pink blush appeared on her face. I could tell how much she was enjoying it.

I, too, took a sip of my drink, and it was much to my liking. A bit of awkward silence ensued between the two of us, so I decided to give in and asked her something.

"Do you still want me to stay away from Cassian?"
