Chapter 72: Phone on the Bed
Elena, Silva, and Lily walked out of the space tear back into the hospital. It closed as soon as they were through.
"That was a lot," Lily said. She threw her hands behind her head and started walking away.
Silva looked at Elena. "Don't let him get under your skin, he is trying to use your want to save people against you," he said.
She looked at him, her gaze lingering for a few seconds. "He is right, we have delayed for a long time now and the risk is high," she said.
"Don't. When you allow his words to linger, they are bound to start looking true," Silva said.
She gave him a soft smile and nodded before placing her hand on his shoulder. She looked at him with a softer gaze than she had done before.
"Thank you for speaking up for me."
After saying that, she walked away. Silva watched her get farther, he took a deep breath and turned the other way.
He got out of the hospital and got a cab to the house. He opened the door, but the house was quiet, all too quiet, but he figured his sister was out right now.
He collapsed on the couch and lay down for a bit, pulling the system screen.

He looked at the screen and couldn't even believe his eyes. This was definitely not the stats that he recalled having. The increase was simply immense, and he got all that from just an evolution.
"This is a lot. I guess that path the system chose for me was the best, whatever an Arcane Demon is," he muttered, then sat up.
"I got two skills as well." His eyes trailed down to the two new additions.
Hell's Flames and Sin of Rage. He found it a little bit suspicious how the name was Hell's Flames and not Hellfire. Could there be a difference, or was that the actual name?
[Hell's Flames: created by the master of hell for his subordinates to wield, a flame born of the core of Hellfire, weaker, but an extremely powerful flame.]
"I see, so there is a Hellfire, and I got the knock-off version," he muttered. He stretched out his hands and a dark red flame ignited on his palm.
The mark on the back of his hands glowed and the flames turned purple. He didn't know why it did that, but he didn't really care for now, he was happy that it had added a good skill to his arsenal.
Next was the Sin of Rage. He had an idea of what it was meant to be. He had used it before without knowing, and now he had it as a personal skill.
[Sin of Rage: a skill that activates when a certain threshold of anger has been met. The strength continuously increases as rage rises, but the more the rage, the less control the user has. There is a risk of no return.]
He read the contents of the skill and his heart was filled with dread for it. The skill didn't need him to activate it, it would trigger from his own rage.
It sounded like a good thing to be capable of such strength, but strength without control was dangerous and could lead to the death of people close to him.
He immediately made a mental note to watch his anger and ensure he never activated the rage, especially when there were people around.
His phone rang suddenly. He pulled it out and it was Riker. He was a bit surprised, Riker hadn't spoken to him in a while.
"Hello."
(If it isn't the prodigy I found, seems you forgot me.)
"No, I've been crazy busy for the most part."
(I understand, working with the strongest Awakened isn't easy. You've gone real far very quick.)
Silva could hear a faint regret in his voice. He didn't know why it was there, but he was certain that Riker wasn't happy about something.
"So what's the issue?"
(Oh yeah, I need your help. A party that I am training needs more experience, and I want them to tackle a C-ranked gate.)
"Yeah?"
(I want you to lead their party into the gates. It's very necessary. I need someone skilled, and that's you.)
"Uhm, well I was thinking of entering a gate as well, but I don't like working with people," Silva said.
(I understand that, but please, just this once,) Riker pleaded.
"Alright, once. I still owe you after all," Silva said.
(Great, then I'll call you tomorrow.)
"Yeah, yeah, talk later."
Riker cut the call. Silva was about to place the phone down, but then he decided to call his sister.
(The number you have dialed is currently unreachable.)
He looked at the screen, his eyes closed to slits. He called again but the same thing happened.
He tried a few more times, but the same thing happened. Immediately, he called Peter.
"Hey, Peter."
(Yeah bro, what's up?)
"Ella's number isn't going through."
(Hmmm, that's unusual, maybe her phone is down.)
"Could be, but I don't feel right about it. Come over."
(Alright bro, I'll be there in a bit.)
He cut the call and got up, walking into her room. He entered, his senses scanning everywhere, and then he spotted it on her bed, her phone.
"Her phone," he muttered and turned it on. He rushed into her messages, checking her last chats, and there he saw the chat with Noel. He tried to enter it, but the chat was locked.
"Screw technology," he muttered. He searched for Amber's number, he found it and put a call through. It rang a few times and then she picked.
(Hello, what do you want?)
"It's Silva, Ella's brother."
(Silva? Uhm hello, hi, what's up?) Her voice switched into a panicked and happy tone.
