My Power to Ignore Enemy Abilities Lets Me Rule Another World

Chapter 40: Set out once more, heading towards the final destination

"I'm back!"

"Oh...? Judging by your expression, the subjugation went well, I take it? The monster has been dealt with?"

"Yes! The monster's remains have already been sent to the village's forces for recovery!"

The voice echoing from the house wasn't that of an elder but a delicate, alluring male tone, which caught me slightly off guard.

However, Sivan showed no reaction to this, so I decided not to dwell on it.

The person speaking with Sivan must hold a significant position, I thought to myself.

There was no need to linger. By now, Savoie and Avik were likely already at the shore. Since everything here was settled, I should hurry back.

I retraced my steps with some hesitation but was confident I wouldn't lose my way. Before long, I arrived at a towering stone staircase. Two guards in gleaming armor stood at the front, questioning me briefly. Once my identity and purpose were verified, they allowed me to pass.

With a few powerful leaps, I reached the top of the stone staircase. The once-glowing, multicolored portal had disappeared, leaving only a hollow opening. It seemed someone from the village had activated it for me earlier. Though Sivan hadn't informed me in advance, I chose to ignore such trivial details.

I glanced at the recessed space on the upper left of the tunnel entrance. The bluish smoke that used to rise from it had vanished. Continuing towards the exit, brilliant light soon filled my vision.

Perhaps because I had leaped directly to the lakeside earlier, I hadn't paid much attention to the surrounding land—the scorched ground here contrasted starkly with the shimmering waters. However, the interplay between the expansive lake and the setting sun was beautiful, a scene I could appreciate.

But more pressing matters occupied my thoughts.

I seemed to be late.

"Dazney Enoch, you're finally here. Do you have any idea how long we've been waiting for you?"

Savoie's voice came from behind as she clapped a firm hand on my shoulder. Her expression was fierce, and her tone carried weight.

"My apologies."

"You're only about 20 minutes behind schedule. No need to be so harsh," Avik quickly interjected, attempting to mediate.

What a kind person.

"I wasn't trying to scold him," Savoie replied, patting my head before scooping me up with one arm around my waist. Only then did I realize she was holding Avik in the same manner.

"Are we heading out directly?"

"Obviously. One of you just runs, and the other just hops. How exactly do you plan to cross the vast lake quickly? Don't tell me you want to get back on a boat."

"Running on water is trivial for me. I can easily use magic to separate myself from the water's surface," Avik argued, but Savoie paid no heed.

As for me... Well, I could technically fly, but not nearly as fast as Savoie. Besides, I had just fought a battle—it wouldn't hurt to relax a bit.

"I have no objections."

"Two votes to one, then. That settles it. You two better not move around too much."

Savoie unfurled fiery wings from her back and began lifting off the ground.

Avik gave up resisting in the end. Before taking off, he glanced at the cave entrance, silently mouthing words I couldn't hear.

I, on the other hand, relaxed entirely, letting Savoie carry me to our destination.

"Seriously, don't move around too much. If I lose my grip, you might fall."

With a strong beat of her blazing wings, Savoie propelled us into the air, and the three of us embarked on the final leg of our journey—towards the ultimate destination of this mission: the Gate of Heavenly Prayers.
