Chapter 2: Chapter 2: The Spirit of the Ancestors
Chapter 2: The Spirit of the Ancestors
Kayode's hands trembled, the golden glow flickering as the spectral figure of the ancestral warrior loomed behind him. The lion-like beast roared again, its glowing red eyes fixed on him with unrelenting malice. Its hulking form moved with terrifying grace, each step cracking the ground beneath it.
"System," Kayode whispered, his voice barely above a breath. "What exactly do I do now? I've never fought a day in my life!"
The System's voice was calm, almost amused. "Tap into the spirit of your ancestors. They will guide your hands."
"Eh? Spirit? Guide? You're saying it like I downloaded the manual for this!" Kayode shouted, but his panic was drowned out by the deafening roar of the beast as it lunged at him, claws outstretched.
Instinct took over. Kayode raised his hands, and the ancestral warrior moved with him, stepping forward and thrusting its glowing spear. The spear struck the beast squarely in the chest, releasing a burst of golden energy that sent both combatants flying.
Kayode crashed into the moss-covered ground, pain shooting through his body. "Ah! This isn't what I signed up for! I'm a billionaire, not a gladiator!"
The beast staggered to its feet, a glowing wound now etched across its chest. It roared, the sound vibrating through the air as it prepared to attack again.
This time, the warrior spoke, its voice deep and resonant, filled with unshakable resolve. "Stand firm, descendant. Your strength lies not in your wealth but in your spirit."
Kayode groaned, struggling to his feet. "Spirit this, spirit that. Will spirit stop me from becoming cat food?"
But deep within him, something stirred—a warmth that spread through his body, pushing away the fear. He closed his eyes, focusing on the warrior's presence. For the first time, he felt connected to something greater than himself, as if the strength of generations flowed through his veins.
When he opened his eyes, the spear in the warrior's hands transformed into a massive golden staff, intricate carvings glowing along its length. Kayode gripped an invisible version of it, the weight familiar in his hands despite its ethereal nature.
The beast lunged once more. This time, Kayode was ready.
With a shout, he swung the golden staff. The impact was thunderous, connecting with the creature's jaw and sending it crashing into the ground. The earth trembled as the beast lay motionless, defeated.
Kayode stared at the fallen creature, his chest heaving. The warrior behind him faded, its golden form dissolving into shimmering light.

Immediately after kayode felt a strange power run through out his body and when it got to his head strange memories surged into his brain making him silent and tear drops could be seen in his eyes.
"So am not dreaming, all this are real" kayode thought
The System's voice broke the silence. "Well done, Kayode. Your ancestors are pleased. This is the first step on your path to greatness and put aside irrelevant thoughts."
Kayode collapsed onto the moss, staring up at the alien sky with its three blazing suns. "Greatness, you say? Right now, I'm just grateful to be alive. What was that thing, and who was the warrior?"
The System replied, "The beast is a spirit predator, a low-tier Spirit beast that just gained sentience, a creature drawn to those with unawakened potentials. The warrior? One of your ancestors, a protector from your lineage. In this world, the strength of your heritage is your greatest weapon."
Kayode frowned, still catching his breath. "So you're saying this isn't some generic martial arts story? My power is… African?"
"Precisely. Your path is unique, rooted in the strength, wisdom, and resilience of your people. You will learn skills like Ancestral Connection, Heritage Binding, and Cultural Resonance. But for now, you must master the basics."
"Basics?" Kayode asked warily. "You mean more fighting?"

Kayode groaned. "Meditation? Really? Of all the things I could be doing right now, you want me to sit still?"
"Would you prefer to be unprepared for the next Spirit Predator?"
Kayode sighed. "Fine, fine. How do I do this meditation thing?"
"Sit cross-legged. Clear your mind. Feel the energy around you—earth, sky, and ancestors. Let it flow through you like a river."
Reluctantly, Kayode followed the instructions. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. At first, it felt silly—he was a man of action, not introspection. But then he felt it: a faint hum, like the heartbeat of the world. The air seemed to thrum with life, the moss beneath him pulsing gently.
Golden light swirled around him, forming intricate patterns in the air. Images of his ancestors flashed through his mind: warriors brandishing spears, healers tending to the wounded, and elders sharing their wisdom. Each vision filled him with a sense of purpose.
The light surged into his body, and his eyes snapped open, glowing faintly gold.
