Chapter 323: Gacha!
Rowan was sighing heavily after reading the trio's report.
He looked at the person in front of him with eyes with a hint of exhaustion.
"Ugh. This is bad. So bad that I wish I could escape from reality."
Eman, who was currently in front of Rowan, could only keep quiet for a while. It was already part of his routine to discuss with Rowan the current situation of the Town of Rothsport every night.
Doing this, also helped him gain some insights on how to manage a town or a village, especially in situations like this.
"Is it really that bad?"
Rowan didn't nod but he said, "It's a huge problem. According to the three flowers' investigation…"
They subconsciously agreed to call them 'three flowers' in general.
Rowan continued saying, "… livestock such as chicken and other animals weren't spared by the miasma. All were killed. Even wild ones such as Forest Boars and other wild animals hadn't survived as well. It looked like even the fishes on the lake were all poisoned by the miasma. When they arrived at the harbor, they saw dead fish floating on the lake.
It means that the miasma even reached the bottom of the water. Even ordinary vegetables were not spared as well. Except for magical vegetables which are rich in magical essence. However, these kinds of vegetables were kinda rare, therefore, it's hard to gather a huge amount of it."
Rowan massaged his temple. He felt like he would age faster.
"So in other words, the town's food supplies are in big trouble."
All this information was already told to him by Sol.
Rowan immediately nodded. "Yeah." He frowned and continued speaking. "We did not pay attention to it immediately because of the sudden panic of the spread of the disease. All the attention is focused on the disease and medicine and not on the effect it will have later," Rowan's voice was mixed with regret as he narrated it.
"Senior, have you tried asking Sol about this matter?"
"What do you mean?"
"As far as I know, Sol does not only sell one or two types of items. He also has products such as meat, vegetables, and even rice."
"Really?!"
Rowan stood up in his seat when he heard from Eman. It almost feels like Sol is a walking grocery store when Eman sounded it.
Eman immediately nodded. Inside his Lord's Domain, many vegetables and rice are stored. Also meat and fish. He had to sell them before the expiry caught up. Besides vegetables, rice, meat, and fish, there are also fruits and breads. And because these items are from his Lord's Domain, these products are not only nutritious with vitamins, they also give extra stats to its consumers.
"Yes. Do you want me to tell her about this?"
It was already known to them that Eman and Sol were very close to each other. Some even suspected that they were secret lovers but no one had enough willpower to ask about this.
"I'm sure she already knows about this because they were the ones who investigated earlier," said Rowan.
"In that case, I think she's just waiting for you to come to her to talk about this problem."
"Really?"
Eman nodded. "That's how I see it."
"Wah! If this continues, the city will not be far from bankruptcy," Rowan suddenly cried out.
Eman couldn't help but sympathize with him.
"Senior, what's important is the well-being of the townspeople."
"You're right, however, we owe you two even more."
"Do not mind it. We can't leave our friends alone. Also, as an Imperial Honorary Knight, I can't leave the matter of this town alone," Eman said nobly.
Hearing what he said, calm returned to Rowan's face.
Rowan thought that he made the right decision when he sent Zennie to the capital city to get medicine from the Merchant Guild. This became the bridge for him to meet the two.
After Eman and Rowan's talk, Eman went straight to his room in the guest room.
Sitting on the bed, he called his Market Interface and went to the Gacha Section.
He wanted to try his luck tonight. Maybe he could get new Mythic-Tier equipment.
His Luck stats have a good number, so he felt that he would get lucky.
He didn't hesitate and immediately drew x11.
After a computerized sound, came a series of chest openings. Then lists of items followed.
—-x1 Rare-Tier Saw Axe, x2 Silver Pouch, x3 High-quality Meat Jerky, x1 Epic-Tier Rose Silver Bead, x1 Epic-Tier Purified Ghost King Blood, x1 Rare-Tier Magic Eyeball, x1 Legend-Tier Spirit Blade, x1 Loaf Bread.
'What!' Eman exclaimed in mind. He was amazed at his luck. Almost all high-quality came out of the chests.
"A legend tier?! Wow!" Eman shouted in a hushed voice.
He also found items that were important for making the elixir he needed so that he could advance his unarmed class.
Ghost King Blood and Magic Eyeball are two important materials he needs to form the Body Tempering Elixir. Now he only has two missing materials to make the elixir.
His heart beat faster and stronger. This further motivates him to hit the x11 draw again.
Pressing the x11 draw again, he heard the computerized sound effects again. In the next moment, the chests opened one after the other.
But this time, his luck seems to be down. Only one epic item appeared and two rare ones; the rest were useless ones.
He didn't lose hope and re-opened with another x11 draw. But what followed was worse.
Eman realized that his win rate was going down after getting high-tier items. Maybe sequential draws lowered his win rate.
He immediately examined the legendary sword, Spirit Sword. He was amazed by the sword. This was no ordinary sword. It has a unique ability.
After doing gacha, he went outside and called Sphin. They flew into the air.
Bees were empty at night. Like ordinary bees, they are not active every night. Eman just wondered why he couldn't see them perching around. It seemed that they were returning to that distant forest where the miasma were gathering at night.
The day before, he had tried to approach that cloud of miasma. However, when he arrived two hundred meters away from it, he was immediately attacked by angry bees. They become hostile and aggressive when approaching that thing in the forest.
Looks like they were protecting something there. In the morning, the bees just flew in the air and did not hurt the people below. But even if they were not attacking the people below, the miasma they carry is extremely dangerous.
The people here in Rothsport Town have no intention of leaving this place. Because if they leave here, they have nowhere to go. Besides, this is their home so it is painful and difficult for the citizens to leave this place. Also, if they stay outside the town, their situation outside will only get dangerous.
The miasma had reached a long way and had spread around the city.
'I need to figure out what's in there,' Eman thought.
"Sphin, let's go!"
"Yes, Master."
Sphin made a beeline in mid-air. It flew towards the forest. When they got within two hundred meters of the gathering miasma. Immediately a thick shadow emerged from the forest. The night grew darker because of the thickness of the shadow.
That thick shadow is made up of thousands of bees. They suddenly flew towards them when they sensed their presence.
Eman's suspicion grew stronger.
"Master, they're coming," Sphin warned.
"Fly to the west and let them chase us," ordered Eman.
His mythical mount immediately nodded. "Yes, Master."
And just as Eman commanded, Sphin flew west and let the bees chase them.
When Eman looked behind, he wondered if darkness had taken over the whole world because of the thickness of the shadow that was following them. Together, they looked like a new giant monster that was ready to devour them at any moment.
On this night, when there was only darkness, it was not an obstacle for the two of them who both could see in the dark.
"Master, they are catching up."
"It's okay. Just maintain your speed."
"Alright."
They are currently flying at a height of 300 feet above the forest. But, their flight direction was not directly towards the gathering miasma. They change their direction, and then they were orbiting around it in a counter-clockwise rotation, maintaining a distance of 200 meters around it.
Sphin's emerald flame suddenly flared up. It made an amazing fiery tail. Because of this, the bees hesitated to approach. And because they couldn't let them wander around, they were still chasing them.
When Eman saw an opportunity, he immediately threw something in front of the bees. Then, he jumped down.
The object he threw caused an intense light that blinded the eyes. Eman didn't pay any more attention to this and continued to plunge. While falling, he used his <Hide> skill from the assassin sub-class.
Before hitting the ground, a wind appeared under his feet, immediately killing his falling momentum.
This was his second element, Wind.
