Chapter 319: Townlord
The townlord jumped in joy internally upon seeing his daughter's face. "My daughter, welcome back!"
"Thank you, Father."
The townlord smiled. "I am very happy to see you came back safe," the townlord's eyes started tearing up.
The two then shared a light hug before the townlord inquired about Rossbert, Liz, and also her guard's whereabouts.
"By the way, where's Mister Rossbert and Liz and your guards?" The townlord looked around but he didn't see Zennie's companions when she left the town, instead, there were two unfamiliar people. A handsome young man and an exceedingly pretty young lady.
Wait. Who are they?
Sooner than her father could ask a question about the unfamiliar figures, Zennie quickly told him, "The matters about Miss Liz, Mister Rossbert, and the guards, I will explain it, but before that, father, let's quickly distribute these elixirs to the people!"
After saying that, Zennie handed a ring to his father. Seeing it, the townlord immediately recognized what it was. It was a storage ring.
When the townlord took out the contents of the storage ring, he was grateful at the number of elixirs in front of him. About 20 boxes in total. All filled with bottles containing vibrant liquid.
The townlord was filled with joy. He wanted to jump right in that instance. But before that, he quickly looked at the butler.
"Quick! Call someone to help and distribute these elixirs to the people of our town!"
"Yes, Milord!"
When the butler left, Zennie told her father, "Father, let me introduce you to these two friends of mine whom I met on my journey."
Initially, he thought the commotion from outside was due to someone dying among those people outside the gate. However, it looked like he was wrong. The reason for the commotion was the arrival of Zennie.
Most people outside were asking who they were. In the eyes of those who didn't know of her, they thought she was a stranger as well. Even their townsmen, only a few knew this daughter of his.
"Since they are your friends, let's not stand here. Come let's go inside."
Eman nodded and Sol followed after them.
Once inside, Zennie immediately introduced them.
"Really? This beautiful miss is a merchant's daughter, who is selling to us her high-potency elixir?!"
"Yes, father. And I can guarantee the effectiveness of those elixirs, I saw it first hand."
"In that case, Lady Sol, thank you very much for your kindness. Our family will see this as a great debt of gratitude."
"There is no need. It is an equal agreement. About the agreement we discussed, Zennie will be the one to explain to you."
Upon hearing Sol's words, the townlord looked at Zennie.
"Father, our agreement is a free trading partnership. I will tell you all the details later."
"Alright. And… How about this gentleman?" The townlord looked in Eman's direction. In his mind, he was hopeful that he wasn't some ruffian who stole his daughter's heart and later deceived her.
Looking at the young man, he looked like a wimp.
"This gentleman is our benefactor who saved us from a peril. He is also an Imperial Honorary Knight which the emperor himself inducted. On top of that, he was also a village lord in a new re-established village."
Upon hearing Zennie's introduction of the gentleman, the townlord almost swallowed his tongue.
"An Imperial Honorary Knight?!" The townlord gasped in disbelief. Such a young person and already bearing that title.
"Yes, father. And both of them are students of the Magical Academy in the Imperial Capital."
The townlord felt ashamed for thinking he was some ruffian.
"Mister Knight, please forgive me for not greeting you properly," the townlord kneeled and bowed.
"Please raise your head, senior. I don't really care about my title. Only a few people know about it. You can just call me by my given name. By the way, my name is Eman."
"Eman?"
Eman nodded. "Yes, I used to be a commoner, so I don't have a surname yet."
"I see. Since Mister Knight allows it, then I'll be addressing you with your given name."
"Mhm!" Eman nodded.
"Since Eman is so friendly, then please call me by my given name as well. Right, my name is Rowan Rothsport. As you already know, I am the current townlord of this town and Zennie's father."
Eman smiled. "Since, senior, has the seniority, can I call you senior or Mister Rowan?"
Rowan nodded. "Yes, of course. If it's what Eman wants." He felt relieved at the respectfulness of the young man in front of him.
"Also, senior is also my senior in being a lord of the land. I am a newly assigned village lord. So in terms of seniority and lord's status, Mister Rowan still holds the higher ground."
Rowan thought that Eman was right. But that is if his title as an Imperial Honorary Knight is not included which is truly a higher status compared to his townlord status.
But in terms of being the lord of the land, the young man is indeed right. He truly had seniority. Even though he said he used to be a commoner, one thing was for sure, this young man wasn't just an ordinary person. Rowan wasn't an idiot. The emperor couldn't blindly induct someone as an Imperial Honorary Knight if he only achieved a mere task.
If even the emperor trusted him, this young man is for sure someone great.
"I see. If you put it that way, then I indeed hold the seniority. Haha," Rowan laughed.
"Since the senior has rich experience in leading his people, I hope you could give me some guidance sometimes."
"Oh~ of course. Just tell me if you need some help. I'll make sure to guide you."
"Thank you very much, senior. Uh, right. I wish to talk with seniors more about some lordship stuff, however, there's an important matter that you need to know first. It's related to the current crisis of the Rothsport Town."
Hearing this, Rowan's face became more serious. "Is that so? Please tell me about it."
"Zennie will tell you, senior."
"Yes, father. Actually…" Zennie immediately narrated their journey towards Rothsporth Town until they encountered the guardian dragon and about what it was telling them.
After a few minutes of narration, Rowan's brow furrowed. "Miasmatic Colony... So this is the reason for the spreading disease now in my town."
Eman and Zennie nodded.
"That's why Father, after drinking up the elixir, we need to inform the townspeople to stay inside their houses. Even if the elixir cures them now, there's a high chance their disease will return. Have them stay in their houses until we can find a way to deal with the Miasmatic Colony."
"Alright, I'll immediately inform our citizens! Zennie, you take care of our guests first. Sorry Eman and Miss Sol, I will leave you for now."
"Don't mind us, senior."
Rowan nodded and immediately stood up. However, before he could leave the room, Zennie called out to him.
"Wait, father, you look unwell. You rest first and I will take care of informing the people. Let me handle it!"
Rowan shook his head. "Do not worry. I'm fine."
"Are you sure?" Zennie asked in worry.
"Yes. Besides, you have to visit your sister. Please, Zennie, it's up to you to give her medicine."
"Okay."
When Rowan left, Zennie immediately took Eman and Sol to her sister's room to introduce them to her.
Inside the room, a lethargic woman was lying on the bed. Her body is thin and her cough is a little hard.
Cough! Cough!
The door opened and Zennie entered.
"Zennie? Is that you?"
"Sis!" Zennie ran to the side of the bed and immediately took her sister's hand. She held it with both her hands.
"Oh, it's you. Welcome back. Cough! Cough!"
"Sis, how are you feeling?"
"My throat hurts like it's on fire. I don't think I will last long. I also heard that the medicine has run out. Sorry Zennie, it's up to you—"
"Wait sis, don't talk like that. Drink it, quickly."
"What is that?"
"It's an elixir, sis!"
"I heard that the medicine has run out. And even the Merchant Guild has run out of supplies."
"That's true. But, some good people help me, sis. Come on sis, drink it. I want to introduce you to them."
"Alright."
Glug~ glug~
Right after drinking the elixir, "Sis, how are you feeling?" Zennie asked her sister worriedly.
There was a look of shock on Zoey's face.
"Zennie, I think I'm feeling better!" Hearing her sister's cheerful voice, Zennie suddenly hugged her sister.
As Zoey said, her feeling suddenly improved and the complexion of her face returned to normal.
"What kind of medicine is this? Only now have I seen such an effective medicine."
"I think it's a high-grade elixir."
"Really?!"
"Yes."
"How did you get this kind of elixir?"
"It's a long story but I will tell you later. I want to tell you a lot."
"Hehe. I also want to hear about your first journey outside of our town. By the way! Where is Mister Rossbert? I think I can spar with him in my current condition." Zoey flexed her unnoticeable bicep.
"…."
"Don't joke like that sis, you just got better! Besides, I want to introduce you to someone."
"Oh, really?"
"Yeah. Wait, wait here."
