My Life with Narration

Chapter 100: Su Qing Stays Behind for Overtime

On the first day at work, although he spent most of the time outside, through the conversation with social predator Sun Mumu, he roughly understood the internal structure of the planning department and why he was transferred here.

The entire department is divided into two parts: one led by Cui Bo, following Shen Yi's instructions, to create travel plans for all company departments; and the other led by Feng Yan, responsible for collecting data submitted by various departments and extracting the key parts to give to President Shen for decision-making, essentially functioning as clerical work.

Of course, on the surface, it's still led by Cui Bo. Most of the people here today are clerical workers, that is, Feng Yan's people, responsible for compiling, summarizing, and screening the data files submitted by other departments.

As for Cui Bo's people, they won't stay in the office area all the time; they need to convey messages to various departments, which is relatively busier.

The entire department consists of ten people. Including Su Qing and Da Huang, that's twelve, but there are only six people here right now, excluding him, among which are four he saw in the morning; the remaining two have been watching him since he came in.

And without exception, they are all women.

As everyone knows, if a place has only women, it certainly won't be peaceful. Although there are no major conflicts, the little thoughts among women are endless.

Especially since the planning department currently has only one manager, and the position of deputy manager is not determined yet. Originally, this deputy manager position should have been Feng Yan's, but since the department is newly formed, there's no need to organize the generals when there aren't enough soldiers yet. Besides, even though Feng Yan is a veteran employee, she hasn't been with the company long. She was transferred here because her home is in Jiang City.

That's why some other employees in the department have thoughts of making connections through Cui Bo to fight for the post.

Su Qing completely understands this point. Wherever there are people, there are stories. Workplace culture has always been like this and has never changed. It's completely normal; who doesn't want to climb higher?

Shen Yi was angry today because a plan had problems. Logically, when something goes wrong in a department, the department leaders are naturally responsible, but there was a disagreement on the division of responsibility. Cui Bo shifted the blame onto Feng Yan, but the plan was simply not under her area of responsibility. She just collected and reviewed information. Since the plan was instructed by Cui Bo, she approved it, but she didn't expect any issues, so she took the fall for it.

Apparently, at noon there was a heated argument in the office. In the end, both Cui Bo and Feng Yan got scolded and parted unhappily.

When hearing this news, Su Qing was initially stunned, then helplessly shook his head. Although Feng Yan was a veteran employee, Cui Bo was effectively her direct supervisor, with decision-making power.

This time she took the blame for her supervisor. Such scenarios are way too common in workplaces. Feng Yan understands this, and even Shen Yi knows what's going on, but there are consequences when mistakes happen.

As for why he was brought over—it's simpler. There were ten people in the department, not one of them a man, so they urgently needed a man to stir things up.

As for Cui Bo, he doesn't count as a man.

If there were actually ten women, it wouldn't be too much of an issue. The key problem is having a sissy manager constantly before one's eyes, which is almost unbearable. Before Su Qing came, they were already considering approaching the HR department to see if they could assign a man.

Having a man in the department has its benefits. Moving things around, replacing water dispensers, those kinds of tasks—obviously, you can't count on a manager who loves manicures.

Of course, the most important aspect is mental comfort. Having a normal man around always helps counteract the sissy manager's emotional stress. As for who that man might be, it doesn't matter; Su Qing just happened to show up at the right time.

Su Qing was quietly chatting with Sun Mumu; the social predator was showcasing her specialty, narrating office antics thoroughly, all while her hands were still at work—a real-life example of multitasking mastery.

And at the back, the quiet Lin Miaomiao noticed Sun Mumu's dry throat from talking and thoughtfully handed her a water cup. Although she wasn't much of a talker and a bit dazed, she enjoyed listening to gossip.

"Ah~~" putting down the water cup, Sun Mumu felt her life was enriched. She enjoyed the chat with Su Qing; it's rare to find someone to talk with during work. Everyone has their tasks, and even the gossip-loving Lin Miaomiao couldn't always engage in such chatter. Not everyone is capable of multitasking.

"Alright, that's it for today. I'll tell you about the love lives of the girls in our department tomorrow." Sun Mumu looked at her watch, smiled, and signaled to the little tuft of hair beside her.

Lin Miaomiao immediately understood, hurriedly saved the computer data, packed her things, hovering her mouse over the shutdown button, poised and ready.

Seeing this, Su Qing asked in confusion, "Why did you stop? Continue, what are you two going to do?"

Hearing this, the social predator patted his shoulder with a meaningful tone, "Little brother, do you know how modern youth are categorized?"

Su Qing shook his head.

Sun Mumu continued, "Let this sister teach you: Buddhist youth—whatever, all right, doesn't matter; Confucian youth—one moment, sorry, my apologies; Legalist youth—no discussion, not going, not allowed."

Su Qing: "Then you're..."

Upon hearing this, Sun Mumu glanced at her watch again, then stood up with Lin Miaomiao beside her, saying:

"Sister's an immortal type—time to eat, time to leave, woohoo~"

With that, the petite duo shouldered their small backpacks, shut down their computers in unison, turbocharging in place, bolting out the office area door in a flash, followed by voices.

"Miaomiao, run faster, Manager Cui is coming!"

"Coming!"

Su Qing: ( ̄□ ̄;)

He checked his phone—it was precisely five o'clock on the dot, not a minute more, not a minute less. Meanwhile, Da Huang curiously lifted his big head: "Woof?" [What's that all about, were there two big black rats running out just now?]

Su Qing patted its head, amazed: "Probably."

Just as he wanted to get up and clock out with Da Huang, the office door opened, and in walked the flamboyantly dressed Manager Cui in a floral shirt, opening with:

"Today, there's an issue with one of our department's plans, so everyone stays to work overtime, we should..."

Mid-sentence, Cui Bo's face changed, emitting a sharp and piercing voice: "Sun Mumu, Lin Miaomiao, get back here, come back~~"

He said, stomping his foot in anger, twisting as he chased out—it was obvious these two were repeat offenders.

After Cui Bo left, everyone couldn't help but laugh, but most sighed. Another overtime session loomed. But the next second, the door of the boss's office in the far corner opened, and in walked the tall and mature Shen Yi, in a black silk dress, softly saying to everyone:

"Everyone, go home. Try to correct that plan by tomorrow."

Her words just settled before the girls burst into cheers.

"Yay! President Shen is the best!"

"Love you, heart sign."

"Goodbye, President Shen."

With that, the girls gathered their things and prepared to leave. As Su Qing was also ready to finish his first day at work with Da Huang, Shen Yi casually said:

"Su Qing, stay and work overtime."

"Why am I staying late?" Su Qing asked.

Shen Yi: "To recharge!"

Su Qing: ???
