Alex strode away from the cacophony of wails and sobs that echoed through the dimly lit corridors, the cries of the once-proud nobles and royals reduced to pitiable echoes in the cavernous dungeon. He dismissed their anguish with a cold indifference, his boots striking sharp against the stone floor as he made his way to the grand hall ahead.

The hall was immense, its vaulted ceiling lost in shadows. In the center stood a man who once commanded respect and awe—Conrad Leto, the 27th Magic Emperor, a figure shrouded in both majesty and tragedy. Now, his regal demeanor was a ghost of the past. His messy black hair fell over his face, the green patch on the right side of his head barely visible beneath the blood and grime.

His once-imposing attire, with its ornate green scrollwork and white fur mantle, was now torn and stained. Heavy chains bound him, glowing faintly with jet-black anti-magic energy that pulsed ominously.

Surrounding him, five figures clad in jet-black armor loomed like silent sentinels. Their mana radiated like a suffocating fog, ensuring Conrad had no chance of escape. His pale face tilted upward, blood trailing from the corner of his mouth as he forced his gaze onto the man approaching him.

Alex smiled, his tone light yet laced with authority.

"Sorry to keep you waiting," He said, his voice carrying easily through the stillness. "I had a few things to handle before I could grace you with my presence."

Conrad's tired eyes narrowed as he struggled to speak.

"W-Who are you?" He rasped, his voice weak yet defiant.

With a measured step forward, Alex inclined his head.

"My name is Asta," He said, his voice brimming with confidence. "I'm a Magic Knight who joined not long ago. And I'm going to be the next Magic Emperor. So, in a way, you could say I'm your junior."

Conrad's brows furrowed, his voice calmer now. "Why did you bring me here, Asta?"

Alex chuckled, and with a subtle flick of his wrist, a sword materialized in his hand. The weapon gleamed under the faint light, its broad, crystal-like blade shimmering with a faint aura. The clover emblem near its golden hilt caught Conrad's weary eyes.

"You see, Senior," Alex began, his tone almost conversational, "I don't harbor any personal grudge against you. But your plans… well, they're a bit too destructive for the innocent commoners of the Clover Kingdom. Unlike Julius, I don't take such threats lightly."

He smirked, gesturing toward the black-armored figures. "I even sent some of your predecessors to fetch you. Not many get such a grand audience before their demise."

Conrad's lips tightened.

"Predecessors?" He repeated, his voice laced with suspicion. His gaze flicked toward the armored figures before returning to Alex. "How did you… bring them back? What… what did you do to them?"

Alex's grin widened, his amusement evident.

"You're a sharp one," He said with a playful shrug. "Well, since you're about to meet your end, I suppose there's no harm in telling you. I am a Necromancer. More precisely, I am the Shadow Monarch."

As he spoke, the air around him grew heavier, oppressive. A palpable wave of mana surged forth, and the hall seemed to tremble under its weight. From the shadows at Alex's feet, a massive, skeletal visage emerged, its hollow eyes glowing with a sinister light. It leered at Conrad, an unholy grin splitting its spectral face.

Conrad's body stiffened as a shiver raced down his spine. Fear clawed at him, a primal instinct urging him to flee, though his chains and captors made such an idea laughable.

Still, he forced himself to meet Alex's gaze, steeling his resolve.

"You are… something else," He said, his voice trembling but resolute. "Thank you for satisfying my curiosity before my death."

Alex's laughter rang out, echoing in the hall.

"Not bad," He said, patting Conrad's shoulder with an almost brotherly camaraderie. "Few can face death with such dignity. Very well, let me give you a parting gift."

At the mention of a gift, Conrad's expression darkened. His lips pressed into a thin line as Alex effortlessly removed the anti-magic chains, tossing them into his grimoire with casual ease.

"Where did you get those chains?" Conrad asked, curiosity flashing in his tired eyes.

"Oh, those?" Alex replied, chuckling. "I didn't find them. I made them myself by infusing my Anti magic. A little hobby of mine."

Conrad's surprise was evident as his gaze lingered on Alex. The very idea of someone wielding Anti magic, let alone crafting tools from it, was almost unfathomable.

Alex gestured for Conrad to follow, and despite his weariness, Conrad complied. The two walked to a set of cells where nobles and royals—the architects of Conrad's tragedy—sat huddled in terror. Their silk-clad forms were a pitiful sight, stripped of their power and pride.

"Why destroy the entire Clover Kingdom," Alex began, his voice softer now, "when the ones who wronged you are all here? Take your revenge, Conrad. I've gathered them for you."

Conrad froze, staring at the cowering figures. Alex extended a sword to him, its weight familiar yet alien in his trembling hand. Conrad's eyes darted back to Alex, questioning.

"Why are you doing this?" He asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

Alex's smile faded, replaced by a solemn expression. "You're not the only one who's lost something because of them," he said quietly.

"But unlike you, I waited. I bided my time. During the chaos caused by the Elves and Zagred, I kidnapped them and made everyone believe they were dead. Now, the world has forgotten them. They'll rot here, nameless, powerless… a fitting punishment."

Conrad's breath hitched as the weight of Alex's words sank in. He turned to the imprisoned nobles and royals, his grip tightening on the sword. Memories of his loss surged within him, the faces of those he loved flashing before his eyes. His body trembled, not with fear, but with rage and sorrow.

Alex watched, his expression unreadable. "What will you do, Conrad?" he asked, his voice carrying a note of challenge. "Will you exact your revenge? Or will you let them live, haunted by their sins?"

Conrad's gaze hardened as he stepped toward the cells, his decision clear in his eyes.

They were the people who took everything from him but he also didn't want to give them a peaceful death.
