My Hitman System

Chapter 212: Understanding (E)

"As you have just seen, after the first complement of the virus is introduced in the host's body, it will keep lowering the host's immunity with time by multiplying within their body.

Those with severe immunity loss when introduced to the second complement of the virus will start by first vomiting blood, which would be followed by hair loss, peeling of skin and eventually a very painful death in the next twenty-four hours.

This virus is being carefully researched by us to work on human subjects, and we have named it 'Complement AB', which is an abbreviation for 'Alpha Beta Complement'.

Now, as to why we are researching such a dangerous virus? I'll be telling that in the next video."

With that, the video was cut, and Jin's eyes seemed at a loss for a moment.

'Father was working on such a dangerous thing?' he couldn't imagine his mild father, whom he remembered as only a normal biology professor, working on such pernicious projects.

Jin soon clicked on the last video, and the video started playing. This time, Jin's father was sitting on a desk, and the camera was facing him as he started talking the moment the video started.

"In the last two videos, you would have gotten a glimpse of what type of organisation Zenith BioTech is, and what we've been working on secretly.

This is the last part of the video where I'll be revealing their motives for creating the virus named Complement AB.

Unlike all the other viruses which we have worked on to make a profit ourselves, this one was instead funded by an outside organisation which although rare still happened from time to time.

We were only told that it's going to be used for sabre rattling during a potential biological conflict, and so we just continued with the project without a thought.

It was only when I overheard the drunk mutterings of our Lab director while taking him to his apartment after a night party that my suspicions were raised.

I sneaked in an audio bug in his office later and finally got to know about the whole situation.

The organisation responsible for funding this research is called 'Trion'. It has its roots spread all around the world and is very powerful.

I even got to know that Zenith BioTech was actually founded by one of their members, and then went through a change of ownership behind the scenes.

This organisation is quite suspicious as no matter how much I searched online, I was unable to find any trace of them. It was as if they were totally invisible.

As for their motive behind funding this virus research. It's to spread this virus in all major cities and then purge the overall population of the world, and while at it, create terror in minds of people.

Once that is done, Zenith will come forward and release the vaccine while openly claiming that the vaccine research was actually funded by Trion, who would then win the hearts of the people and slowly create a new world order.

To rule the whole world, that's their goal, and to achieve that, they would go to any lengths. To delay this from happening, I've been deliberately slow in the creation of the virus while also making things more complex for everyone without their knowledge and on the otherside, I've been working on a vaccine.

In a week, I'll be leaving this branch in Morose and will be going back to Valeyria, as I no longer wish to be involved with them any longer. The trial version of the vaccine is finished, but it still needs some additional adjustments, which I'll be doing later.

It will take five more years for me to complete the vaccine by myself. However, if you're seeing this video, it must mean that I'm already dead and was unable to create a vaccine.

I urge whoever you are to use my research material in the document files to complete the vaccine.

Lastly, I know I have done a lot of bad deeds in this life. So this is my way of doing the little good which I'm still capable of doing,"

A self-deprecating chuckle escaped from his mouth as he finished his last sentence and switched off the camera.

Jin just stared at the black screen of his laptop as his mind kept wandering from place to place.

'Dad was working on a vaccine?... Is that what he was researching all day and night in his study room?'

Jin remembered how his father was always busy. In the daytime, he was fully involved in his university work, and at home, he used to close himself in his study rooms and even skip family dinners because of it.

'So he was carrying such a huge burden on his shoulders all this while,' Jin sighed as he came to understand his father more.

Suddenly, a muddled memory that had been lying in the depths of his mind surfaced. With each passing second, it became more and more vivid, and Jin's eyes widened in shock.

"...was that the vaccine he mentioned?!"

More than a month before Jin's family had died, his father was arguing harshly with his mother late at night. Jin had opened his room's door slightly and was observing everything through the narrow gap.

While he didn't remember what they were talking about, he remembered the worried expression of his mother, who was crying while looking at his father.

It was as if she wanted to stop him from doing something.

His father kept on refusing her pleadings and plunged the syringe he was holding in his hand into his neck. Jin was shocked to see it and was confused as to what exactly was happening.

His mother cried loudly when she saw it, but her face soon became relieved when she saw that nothing had happened to his father, and the two of them soon went back to their bedroom.

His father didn't go to the university for a whole week after that night. His mother also stayed at home and closely observed his father.

A week later, both Jin and his mother were administered the same drug by Jin's father.

He had asked them what it was, but the only answer he got was , 'It's good for you, so just take it.'

Jin had found it very weird and would not have forgotten about this vivid incident if not for the death of his parents a few weeks later.

When being subjected to such heartrending news, it was normal for such trivial memories to become hazy, and if not this video, which Jin watched today, the likelihood of his remembering this incident was close to zero.

"So I'm immune to this virus…" Jin muttered to himself as the image of what had happened to the rat flashed in his mind.

It would be a lie to say he wasn't disturbed by that scene. A sense of fear had also developed in him when he thought of something like this happening to his loved ones. It was at that time that a sound came from his mind.

PING!

Seeing that no panel had appeared before him after the sound, Jin opened up the system store and soon found a new item among them.

"One million points!" Jin couldn't help but exclaim when he saw the price for the vaccine that had just popped up in the store.

He tried to tap on it to check whether he could buy a single one instead of a set of ten, only to realise that he couldn't.

'Fuck! I have no option but to get one million kill points if I want to get my hands on the vaccine, Jin thought in a frustrated manner.

He had no idea whether Zenith had fully developed the virus or not, so that uncertainty also added to his frustration.

While he might be able to survive this virus, what about Diana and her father? What about Dylan and his family? His teammates and all the other people he cared about?

Jin didn't want them to suffer such a terrible fate and gritted his teeth to think of a solution.

"Yes, father mentioned that he was in Morose, so this research must be happening in the Morose branch. I can just sneak into their lab and destroy all their material," Jin thought to himself.

However, what Jin didn't know was that it wasn't just Morose where this virus was being developed. Unlike before, there were more than fifty such facilities around the world.

For added security measures after the earlier incident, if even one of them encounters a data erasure, it would lead to the others being alerted, and at that point, it would become impossible for Jin to handle the matter on his own.

As if wanting Jin to realise this, the system sent him a new mission the very next moment.
