My Hitman System

Chapter 203: Her Turmoil (E)

'Looks like I'll have to go and see him once again,' Diana thought with a sigh and removed her helmet. A few seconds later, she walked back towards the hospital's entrance.

Inside the emergency ward, Jin had finished taking pictures with almost everyone, and the staff members helped him calm down the situation as an apology.

With this done, he was about to go and look for Diana when he saw her figure entering through the door and walking towards him with a stern expression.

"You're back," Jin said with an electrifying smile, which made Diana's heart flutter like before, but she still maintained her stern expression and passed the phone to him.

"Here."

Jin took the phone from her hand and couldn't help but ask, "Where did you find it?"

"A young man had witnessed your accident. He had called an ambulance for you and later called me through your phone when he found it. Otherwise, why do you think I would come to see you here?" Diana said in as dispassionate a manner as possible.

She wanted Jin to clearly know that she hated him and that her hug earlier was just an involuntary accident.

However, Jin didn't notice it and instead asked curiously, "Oh? Who was it? Do you have his number by any chance so I could thank him?"

A tinge of irritation rose in her from his response as she replied with a scoff, "Why would I ask for that? I'm already doing more than enough by returning your phone to you."

"...Ah yes, I'm sorry for ruining your sleep," Jin apologised while rubbing the back of his head. However, while at it, he unintentionally stretched the cotton gauze wrapped around his head and grimaced the very next moment.

"UGH!" He pressed the side of his head where the injury was to soothe the intense pain.

"You—!" Diana immediately rushed to his side and removed his hand to get a look at his injury.

Seeing that there was no bleeding, she sighed a little before letting go of his hand and staring at him angrily. "How could you be so careless?!"

"I forgot about the bandage for a second there…" Jin said as his eyes contracted from pain.

Seeing this, Diana couldn't help but worry a little and ask, "Is it too painful? Should I call the nurse?"

"...No, there's no need. It will go away with time." Jin gestured with his hand and told her that it was okay. Thirty seconds later, the pain naturally subsided, and he felt a lot better.

Opening his eyes, he saw Diana, who was still looking at him with a worried expression.

"I'm fine now… thanks." Jin smiled.

"W-what are you thanking me for?" Diana asked awkwardly while trying to avoid his eyes. Thinking of something, she suddenly asked a question in an attempt to change the topic.

"By the way, what exactly had happened earlier? You aren't the type to be careless while driving, so were you hit by someone? That young man had also said that my number was on your recent calls, that's why he called me… why did you call me all of a sudden?"

At first, she had just asked to avoid the situation, but as she kept on going, more and more questions arose in her mind, but she controlled her urge and asked only three questions so as not to appear overly curious.

"Take a seat first, it's a long story." Jin gestured towards a stool next to her, clearly knowing that she was more curious than she was portraying.

Diana seated herself the next moment and looked towards Jin inquisitively.

"I came back from Umroi yesterday afternoon and was invited for dinner by Dylan and Erika. After dinner, we chatted a little, and I got to know that you had called me earlier and then had enquired with Erika about my whereabouts…" Jin paused and looked at Diana for a couple of seconds.

"Well, that…" Being caught red-handed, she could think of no words to defend herself at the moment and avoided Jin's gaze.

Not putting any pressure on her, Jin continued, "So when I left their house, I thought of giving you a call, knowing that it would be afternoon in Miringham… On that note, I was truly shocked to see you in the hospital because of that." Jin chuckled and continued.

"So… I called you a few times, but you didn't pick up, so I drove back to my hotel. However, while I was driving through a street, a stray cat almost came beneath my wheels, and in an attempt to avoid it, the car overturned… and now I'm here."

Jin smiled in embarrassment when he finished his words. He, too, wasn't expecting to end up in such an accident. However, seeing that it resulted in him meeting Diana like this, he didn't regret it even a bit.

"You… so you almost lost your life just because you wanted to save a cat?!" Diana couldn't help but exclaim with a furrowed expression.

"Well… it just happened," Jin answered.

"It just doesn't make sense at all. You hated cats as far as I remember," Diana stated as she remembered the times he had spent with her.

"But you love them…" Jin muttered under his breath the next moment in frustration.

"W-what?" Although Jin's voice was low, she still managed to hear what he said as her eyes widened.

Realising that he was heard by her, Jin just smiled slightly and continued, "Knowing that… I avoided the cat. It didn't get hurt in the end and just ran across the road."

'He did that just because of that?'

Diana couldn't help but be surprised as a warm sensation welled up inside her, but the memories of what he had done to her surfaced the very next moment in her mind, and her warm feelings soon got engulfed with anger and bitterness as she asked sharply, "What? Are you trying to impress me or what? If you cared for me so much, you wouldn't have cheated on me in the first place."

She scoffed at his face and stood up the next moment.

"Let's not meet again." She snorted loathingly, turned around, and left.

"Diana! Wait!" Jin called her in the hope that she would listen to his explanation, but there was no trace of hesitation in her footsteps as she left the emergency ward under the confused eyes of all the staff and patients.
