My Favorite Game Followed Me!

Chapter 629

The moment Anton arrived in his room in the Rose Manor, he did not do anything. First, he made sure there were no traces of his portal in his bathroom because he did not want any of the powerful liches to notice his portal.

Normally, the moment he arrived back at home, Anton would immediately cast his Blizzard spell that was converted into Mana Rain towards the garden and the fruit orchard to signal the whole manor that he was back, but this time, he remained still. He contemplated what happened in Mendoza.

Anton thought that the defense of the Western Wall would be stable and would last for several months before any significant action would occur from either side, but again, just like the other wizards, he kept underestimating the decisiveness of the Undead Coalition.

But then again, Anton kept telling Cedon that Mendoza being passive would not result in a favorable condition for the kingdom, and just like a prophet, he was correct. Not because Anton had some magic related to fate or anything like that, but because he had personally experienced how the Undead Coalition moved, and he had been relentless in sharing his opinion regarding the enemy. But because he was an insignificant part of the machine that was the kingdom of Mendoza, he was ignored. He just hoped that his previous squad and Cedon were fine.

Anton knew for a fact that a tremendous number of people would suffer and had already died. He was watching the battle between the two Divine Rank beings from Mendoza and from the Undead Coalition, and their fight, even though it lasted for just a few seconds, caused humongous damage to the area. Not only that, since there were no more powers that would be able to contend with the three Semi-Divine and the Divine Liches from the Coalition, Anton felt that the people of Mendoza were doomed.

After a couple of hours of contemplation inside his room, Anton finally cast his spell toward the garden and the orchard to signal the manor that he was back, and as expected, after a few minutes, he heard a knock on his door.

Anders entered, followed by the butler.

"Thank goodness you returned immediately, Anton. I have some inquiries regarding the Corridors of Amuneta. My team and I heard some gossip about a powerful young archmage who was delving the deep floors of the dungeon alone and had generously shared some valuable information with other adventurers. I knew that it was you, so I'm thinking of getting all the information from you directly," Anders said.

"Father, Mendoza fell," Anton said grimly.

Anders and Raymond were flabbergasted, and Anton's father slowly sat down on one of the chairs that were placed inside Anton's room. Even the butler looked like he wanted to sit, but the vaunted discipline that any butler could boast kept Raymond standing.

"Tell me what happened," Anders said after a minute.

Anton described all the details that he had seen the moment he was back in Mendoza from the manor. He told his father and Raymond about the battle between the Semi-Divine mages from the kingdom and from the Coalition. He also told them that during the middle of that battle, he was one of the people who were trying their best to defend the breach created by powerful liches. He told his father and Raymond that after a few hours of battle, the Semi-Divine wizards of Mendoza had lost, and that he did not even know if they had died or had escaped, but he thought they had probably run away since it was extremely difficult to kill powerful wizards. That was when the Divine Wizard of Mendoza appeared, and for a moment, it looked like Mendoza would be all right, but then a Divine Rank lich appeared.

Anton told Anders and the butler that he ran away immediately, using his Teleport skill because he knew that the battle between two powerful Divine Rank beings would produce enough devastation that could reduce the whole kingdom into rubble, and he was correct. The battle did cause a huge amount of destruction, but the sad part was, the Divine Rank wizard from Mendoza was defeated and had fled. That meant that there was no one powerful enough to contend with three Semi-Divine liches and the Divine Lich that attacked the kingdom.

"Would Ormunda and New Drennor not do anything and just allow the Coalition to conquer Mendoza without any fight?" Anders asked.

"I don't know. The Divine Rank wizards from both kingdoms are probably powerful enough to travel from their respective kingdoms to Mendoza in the blink of an eye, but regardless, the kingdom had already turned into rubble. I'm not going to be able to return there since I'm quite sure that those powerful liches would be able to capture me immediately if I did go back there," Anton said, and Anders looked apprehensive.

"Of course, you will not return to Mendoza! Let's just wait for any news coming from there and also wait for what kind of decision Ormunda would make regarding Mendoza's status," Anders said.

"I will need to go to the army headquarters to report what happened," Anton said, and Anders nodded.

After that, Anton, accompanied by his father, went to the place where Anton trained to be part of the "special forces" of Ormunda.

The moment they arrived there, Anton went to the reception office and informed the person there that he had news regarding the fall of the kingdom of Mendoza. The lady receptionist looked flabbergasted, but after a few seconds, she told Anton and Anders to wait and immediately ran somewhere.

She returned after a couple of minutes, followed by three men who introduced themselves as majors. Thankfully, they allowed Anders to accompany Anton. He did not show it, but at that moment, Anton felt small and vulnerable and appreciated Anders's presence. He wondered why that was so. He was a 23-year-old man when he transmigrated from Earth to this world, and now he was already 18, but at that moment, he felt like he was a child. Anton hated that feeling. He did not like feeling powerless, but even with all of the powers that were given to him by his Diablo II system, he could not help how he was feeling at that moment.

Anton knew that he would need to get rid of that feeling since his enemies would not care about "feelings". He thought that the only thing that would make him feel secure was more power, so he understood that after this ordeal, before he was called to defend the next kingdom that the Undead Coalition would attack, he would concentrate on increasing his power.

Anton was brought into a sort of panel consisting of around ten men. All of them had high ranks in the army, and all of them were Supreme Wizards and above based on the power of mana emitting from them.

He knew, though, that the wizards of Ormunda were already aware of what happened to Mendoza because Anton was sure that some of the wizards stationed in the kingdom had probably already sent back information. Regardless, when Anton was asked to tell all the information he knew, he was very detailed. The only thing he left was his ability to create a portal. He just informed them that his Teleport and flying skills were top-notch, which was why he was able to return to Ormunda immediately.
