Chapter 45: Two against one?
Lucian underestimated Thorin because he had one arm to defend himself. Even with Thorin's other black sword in the air, Lucian had thought that Thorin wouldn't be able to keep up with his control for long, but Lucian was wrong. Although Thorin had just his left arm to fight with, he was incredibly strong.
'How did he get so strong within a short period of time?' Lucian thought. Out of breath and irritated because his attacks weren't working. He fought with Thorin carefully because he couldn't let Thorin's blade draw out any blood out of him, but now Lucian was starting to feel like all his careful actions were nothing more than a waste. Lucian could hide his knight skill under his villain ability, but in order to defeat Thorin, he needed more power. His beast ability. It's either he fights with it or gets cut down by Thorin's sword.
"Use me, captain." Soren stepped close to Lucian's side, his blade in his hand. He could tell from the conflicted emotions displayed on Lucian's face that his captain was about to make a decision he would hate. "Don't fight against this redemptious bastard alone. Let me be your sword."
Marta felt inspired and was about to step up to Lucian's side as well, but Luna pushed her down.
"Let Soren handle it; he's the second strongest among us after Lucian. You may be good with handling your blade, but you are only going to get yourself killed. Thorin won't spare you if you get in his way again." Luna held Marta's shoulder to make sure that she stayed down. Like Lucian, she was also surprised by Thorin's strength; the strong, intimidating aura that had surrounded Thorin in order to protect him from minor attacks made Luna tremble in fear.
"Get your hands off me." Marta snaps, "The only reason you are trying to stop me is so that you can go to Lucian's side and take credit for it."
Luna tilted her head to the side; she felt like the pressure of the situation they were in must have affected Marta's brain. Her long bangs shifted to the side and revealed her dark eyes. "It's either you stay put quietly, or I give you enough poison to paralyze you and make you useless for hours. If you are unlucky, you might end up useless for life because I still don't know how to control the amount of poison I want to hurt my opponent with."
Marta curses and obeys Luna's orders.
'The last thing Lucian needs is to be on the lookout for Marta because she can't take care of herself. But I have faith in Soren that he can handle himself without Lucian's help.' Luna thought.
Thorin kicks Lucian and Soren hard on the chest. Lucian and Soren hit their heads hard on the ground as they fell.
"How can you pledge your loyalty to someone as darkly wicked as Lucian?" Thorin sneers at Soren, "You are better off dead than to leave the rest of your life tainted by Lucian. As the chosen one, I will redeem your soul; only in death can I save you." He let go of his dark blade, controlling it along with his second blade; both swords hovered over Lucian and Soren's heads, ready to pierce them to death.
Within the last blurry minute, Soren and Lucian rolled their bodies over, and Thorin's blade pierced deep into the ground. Thorin cursed and swiftly brought one of his blades back into his hand.
"I'm so sick of listening to that redemptious bastard speak of redemption as though he's some sort of god over my life." Soren muttered as he stood up on his feet. From afar, Luna cast her healing spell on Lucian and Soren.
'I'm also sick of it.' Lucian thought. Since Thorin had stopped questioning him about Skai's death, he moved over to talking about the chosen one and redemption. Lucian didn't understand any of his nonsense. The only thing Lucian was sure that Thorin was chosen for is hell.
"Even with their combined strength, they are still getting their ass kicked," Luna said.
"That's why we need to go out there and hel_."
"Get killed?" Luna asked, rolling her eyes. She could help Soren and Lucian from a safe distance, and she was okay with that.
"Do you think what he said about our captain killing a defenseless girl is true?" Marta asked. Bothered that Lucian didn't tell them about his encounters with Skai. Killing innocent people for mindless reasons was something her last captain did all the time, and she didn't want Lucian to change into someone she hated.
"Lucian said that he didn't do it." Luna's voice was firm. "I believe him. Besides, even if he did do it, I'm sure it's for a good reason, and if it's not, then as his teammates, it's our responsibility to kick Lucian's dumb ass and teach him a lesson; that way he will never do something like that again."
Marta smiled, her worries eased by Luna's words, "If any of you hurt Lucian, I will kill you." She said it in a serious tone.
Reed followed the battle noise he could hear from within the forest, and to his surprise, he saw his captain from afar, fighting with Lucian and Soren.
'Two against one?' he scoffs, wondering how that was a fair fight. Hurriedly, he directed his team, who had joined him in his frustrated search for Thorin, who took off after hearing a girl scream from a distance. Reed thought that Thorin was struggling in his battle, without knowing that Thorin was actually winning.
"Are we still not going to help the captain?" Marta asked, standing to her feet when she saw Reed and Thorin's team approaching Lucian with their swords out, ready for battle. She was ready to go against Luna and fight.
"Hopefully I'm able to control the amount of toxic that gets into their body system; if not… whatever happens to them isn't my fault." Luna activated her hidden skills. Thorin's teammates were more than Lucian's team; the only way Luna could even out the number was through killing or paralyzing them.
Lucian is left alone to fight with Thorin, as Soren reluctantly left his side to fight together with Luna and Marta.
