My Beast is really not an evil god

Chapter 4: Awakening(4)

After a second or so, the blinding light quickly subsided, leaving the room in its usual dim glow.

In that instant, a flood of information surged into Sein's mind. His eyes flickered slightly as he processed it.

Beast Tamer, huh, he mused inwardly. A small smirk crept onto his lips. He felt satisfied with this career—one often referred to as "ganging up on others" and "beating one with many", due to the ability to command multiple beasts.

"Looks like you've also awakened a special or perhaps even a legendary career," the voice of the man in black robes interrupted his thoughts, pulling him back to reality.

"Well, I've awakened as a Beast Tamer," Sein replied casually, though there was a quiet confidence in his tone.

"Oh, congratulations to you then," the man in black robes said with a polite nod.

Sein gave a slight smile in response before quickly making his way out of the awakening room.

As he stepped out, he was immediately met with the eager and expectant gaze of Mr. Borr. The teacher wasted no time in asking, "Well? What career did you awaken?"

"I awakened as a Beast Tamer," Sein replied calmly, though there was an unmistakable spark of pride in his eyes.

"Good, good!" Mr. Borr said enthusiastically, his face lighting up with approval.

Mr. Borr quickly noted down Sein's career on his list, nodding to himself with satisfaction. Without wasting much time, he moved on and began calling the names of the remaining students for their turn at awakening.

As Sein returned to his seat, he was immediately ambushed by Roy, who grabbed his shoulders and shook him with enthusiasm.

"Look, Sein! We both have special careers! We're totally going to become the mainstay of the future!" Roy declared, his excitement overflowing.

"I know, I know. Now stop shaking me," Sein replied, his voice slightly exasperated but amused.

Hearing Sein's words, Roy finally let him go, though his grin remained firmly in place.

The awakening ceremony continued as usual. Most of the remaining students awakened to common or poor careers, and a few left empty-handed. However, no other special or legendary careers emerged.

When the last student had completed their awakening, Mr. Borr could barely contain his joy. Not only had the percentage of students awakening this year surpassed the previous year, but his class alone had produced three special careers. That alone was enough to secure him a promotion and additional resources for his department.

With a wide grin, he clapped his hands to get everyone's attention. "Alright, everyone, line up! It's time to head back to the academy." His voice was firm but carried an unmistakable undertone of excitement.

As the students began forming a line, Mr. Borr continued to beam with satisfaction, already envisioning the recognition and benefits his class's performance would bring him.

The students quickly made their way back to the area where most of the buses were parked. By the time they arrived, most of the other classes had already gathered, with only a few stragglers still making their way over.

Mr. Borr, brimming with pride, instructed the students to wait before heading off toward the other teachers. His intent was clear—to show off the success of his class.

The students couldn't help but notice the envious looks the other teachers shot Mr. Borr as he proudly shared the details of his class's achievements. Some even muttered among themselves, their jealousy barely concealed.

After a few minutes, all the classes from Academy No. 4 that had attended the awakening ceremony were present. The atmosphere among the students was mixed. Those who had successfully awakened careers, wore expressions of happiness and relief. Meanwhile, those who had failed looked downcast, the weight of disappointment evident in their faces.

After a while, all the students boarded the buses and began their journey back to the academy. The ride was filled with mixed chatter—some students celebrating their newfound careers, while others remained quiet, lost in their thoughts.

Upon arriving at the academy, the students were immediately directed to gather in the large auditorium. The space buzzed with low murmurs as everyone waited for what was to come next.

After some time, an elderly man stepped onto the stage. He was dressed in an immaculate white suit, with gold-rimmed glasses perched on his nose, exuding an air of authority and wisdom. The students instantly quieted, recognizing him as the dean of Academy No. 4, Dean Alaric Veylin.

Without wasting any time, the dean took the microphone and began his speech in a calm and gentle tone.

"Hello, everyone. My name is Dean Alaric Veylin. First, let me extend my heartfelt congratulations to all those who successfully awakened today. You have taken your first step toward a brighter future. To support your journey, the academy will provide each awakened student with a basic skill book and a piece of common equipment. For those who have awakened special careers, you will receive two skill books and an elite-level piece of equipment.

"I am truly proud of the achievements of this year's batch. Your hard work and potential reflect the values of our academy.

"As for those who didn't awaken today, do not lose hope. Remember, there are many paths to success, and not all of them require awakening. The academy will continue to support you in exploring alternative opportunities to achieve greatness. ........................Our academy ............................ That's all today "

"Thank you all for listening to the words of this old man."

As the dean finished speaking his lengthy speech, the students erupted into vigorous applause. The sound echoed throughout the auditorium, filled with a mix of respect and excitement.

Sein joined in, clapping politely as he turned to glance at Roy. He noticed his friend was on the verge of dozing off. Suppressing a smirk, Sein elbowed him lightly, jolting him back to attention.

Sein's main takeaway from the dean's speech, however, wasn't the encouragement or lofty words—it was the promise of the academy-provided freebies. Skill books and equipment were valuable, and Sein couldn't help but focus on the practical benefits awaiting him.

After the dean concluded his speech, the teachers promptly took charge, dividing the students into two groups. Those who had failed to awaken were sent back to their regular classes, while the awakened students were escorted to another location.

It felt like a stark divide, and to some, it might have seemed unfair to treat them so differently. But this was the reality of the world they lived in—merit and potential dictated opportunities, and the awakened were now on a path that demanded specialized guidance and resources. Fair or not, the system was built to prioritize results.
