Chapter 257: Awkward
Arriving at the military infirmary, Feng Xiyan searched for Yan Bingyang. When he found him in the patient ward, he waited until Yan Bingyang finished checking on the patients before approaching.
Seeing him come, the apprentice physicians and workers greeted him. "This subordinate greets the Great General."
Feng Xiyan nodded in response and asked, "Physician Yan, do you have some free time?"
At this, Yan Bingyang looked up. Noticing Feng Xiyan's pale complexion and the dark circles under his eyes, he frowned slightly.
Turning to one of his apprentices, Yan Bingyang handed over a prescription and instructed, "Follow this prescription. Boil the medicine from two bowls down to half a bowl, and feed the patient twice a day, morning and evening."
The apprentice physician received the prescription and replied, "Yes, Teacher."
Turning to the rest, Yan Bingyang added, "You guys take over here. If there's anything important, find me in my tent."
Understanding that their teacher had business with the Great General, the apprentices clasped their hands, bowed slightly, and answered in unison, "Yes, Teacher."
Once everything was handed over, Yan Bingyang turned back to Feng Xiyan and gestured for Feng Xiyan to follow him. "Great General, please follow this subordinate to my tent."
Feng Xiyan nodded silently and followed. Before long, they stepped into Yan Bingyang's tent.
As soon as Feng Xiyan sat down, Yan Bingyang asked, with a trace of both worry and dissatisfaction in his calm voice, "Great General, how long has it been since you last slept?"
Sensing both his worry and dissatisfaction, Feng Xiyan coughed lightly and answered with a hint of guilt in his voice, "Two days ago."
The moment the words fell, Yan Bingyang sighed. Placing his medicine box on the ground, he took out a pulse pillow, placed it on the low table between both of them, and said, "Great General, please."
Feng Xiyan placed his wrist on the pillow, and Yan Bingyang pressed three fingers against it.
A minute later, Yan Bingyang glanced at him and frowned deeply.
Seeing this, Feng Xiyan fell silent. A few seconds later, he asked, "Physician Yan, please just tell the truth. Does this general have a serious illness?"
Retracting his hand, Yan Bingyang hesitated before asking, "Great General, how old are you this year?"
Not understanding why Yan Bingyang suddenly asked about his age, Feng Xiyan answered in confusion, "This general is twenty-five. Physician Yan, why are you suddenly asking this?"
Ignoring his question, Yan Bingyang asked again, "Great General, do you…"
Seeing him hesitate for a long time, Feng Xiyan urged, "Physician Yan, if you have anything to say, please speak freely."
After a moment of hesitation, Yan Bingyang leaned forward, lowered his voice, and asked, "Great General, have you ever… broken your body before?"
Feng Xiyan blinked blankly for a few seconds—then realized what he meant.
Coughing to cover his embarrassment, he muttered, "…Not yet."
Hearing this, Yan Bingyang sighed under his breath. "No wonder…"
Feng Xiyan frowned at his words and asked, "Physician Yan, is there something wrong with this?"
Taking out paper and brush, Yan Bingyang began grinding ink.
As he wrote a prescription, he explained calmly, "Great General, your body simply has too much Yang energy. Have you been having… those kinds of dreams lately?"
At the direct question, Feng Xiyan's face blushed slightly. Lowering his head, he hummed an answer. "…Mhm."
After blowing the ink dry, Yan Bingyang handed him the prescription and explained, "This medicine can help you control the inner fire. However, remember not to take it long-term, or it will damage your foundation."
Feng Xiyan put the prescription away and asked, "How long may this general take this medicine?"
"Only three times, once per week," Yan Bingyang replied. After a short pause, he added bluntly, "Great General, it's better to find a woman to resolve this problem to avoid harming your body."
The moment the words landed, Bai Hanyun's image and soft voice flashed through Feng Xiyan's mind. A heartbeat later, blood flowed down from his nose. Pinching his nose, he turned his head away in a hurry.
Seeing this, Yan Bingyang was speechless. "..."
After a long, awkward silence, Yan Bingyang silently picked up his brush again and wrote another prescription.
Handing it over, he explained calmly, "For your blood loss."
Accepting the prescription, Feng Xiyan quickly stood up and said, "Thank you, Physician Yan. This general must fetch the medicine, so this general will take my leave first."
Without waiting for a reply from Yan Bingyang, he rushed out of the tent.
Watching Feng Xiyan's back disappear from his sight, Yan Bingyang rubbed his chin and muttered curiously, "Does he… have someone he likes? But there are no women in the barracks, nor in the Great General's mansion."
Thinking for a moment, his eyes suddenly widened in shock. "No way… Could it be that the Great General likes men?!"
Unaware that his chief physician was now doubting his preferences, Feng Xiyan waited while an apprentice physician prepared the medicine.
Before long, the apprentice returned with two bundles of medicine.
Handing over the first bundle of medicine, he explained, "Great General, these three packs are to cool your body."
Then, passing the second bundle, he continued, "These are to nourish your body and blood. Boil two bowls down to one bowl and take it twice a day. One pack per three days. After finishing the medicine, you will recover."
Accepting the medicine, Feng Xiyan nodded. "Thank you."
Leaving the infirmary, he returned to his tent and handed the prescription to Feng Yi to prepare.
Meanwhile, Bai Hanyun had finished her breakfast. Carrying her backpack with the antique mirror inside, she left the house.
Seeing her leave through the surveillance cameras' feed, Hua Yuyu said, "Gao Gong, come with me. The rest stay here and guard the house."
Gao Gong nodded and followed Hua Yuyu out of the capsule house.
After the door closed behind them, Bao Shengjie said, "This job is really nice. High pay, little work, and good food."
Xie Wei nodded in agreement, but Ouyang Zhuangyu sat around the table in silence, deep in thought.
Noticing his frown, Bao Shengjie asked, "Brother Zhuangyu, what's wrong?"
