Chapter 256: Nosebleed
Catching the earrings when they suddenly appeared in the air, Bai Hanyun took a closer look and noticed that the pearls were actually dongzhu, set into small round holes carved in the jade.
Examining the exquisite craftsmanship and elegant design, she saw Feng Xiyan's initials engraved on the earrings. Bai Hanyun couldn't help but admire his craftsmanship.
Letting out a sigh of admiration, Bai Hanyun stared at the earrings and said, "Feng Xiyan, these earrings are so beautiful."
Hearing this, Feng Xiyan's eyes lit up, and he replied, "As long as Fairy Bai likes them."
Placing the earrings carefully on the low table by the arhat bed, Bai Hanyun chuckled and responded, "Of course, I like them. All the gifts you have given me, I like them very much. Thank you, Feng Xiyan."
Hearing this, Feng Xiyan smiled gently and thought, 'Fairy Bai likes everything I have given her so far. Then… I will make more when I have time.'
Having made up his mind, Feng Xiyan began to think about what to create next.
After receiving the gift, Bai Hanyun said, "Feng Xiyan, I also have a gift for you later."
Feng Xiyan looked at the bronze mirror and asked with a hint of curiosity in his voice, "A gift for me?"
Bai Hanyun smiled and replied, "Yes. When it's delivered, I will send it to you. I bet you will like it."
Although curious, Feng Xiyan decided not to ask anything. Clasping his fists, he said, "Then, Xiyan thanks Fairy Bai in advance for the gift."
"No need, no need. You have already given me so many gifts. I like them a lot, so I also want to give you something in return," Bai Hanyun said cheerfully.
Just as her words fell, a notification sounded from her phone.
Ding!
Standing up to grab her phone from the bed, Bai Hanyun unlocked it and saw a message from Shen Yi. Opening her WeChat, she read the message.
[Miss Bai, the bullet for the Artificial Rain Cannon has just arrived. Do you want me to send it along with the Artificial Rain Cannon to your warehouse today?]
Bai Hanyun's eyes lit up as she quickly typed back: [Yes. Please send them as soon as possible.]
A few seconds later, Shen Yi replied: [Alright. I will arrange the delivery right away. It will take around one and a half hours to arrive at your warehouse.]
[Thank you, Boss Shen. I will be waiting.]
Grinning after sending the last message, Bai Hanyun said, "Feng Xiyan, the gift will arrive in one and a half hours."
Sensing her excitement, Feng Xiyan's curiosity grew. "Xiyan is now very curious about what kind of thing could make Fairy Bai so excited."
Bai Hanyun chuckled. "He~ he~ he~. You will love it."
She placed the antique mirror on the bedside table and added, "Feng Xiyan, I need to take a bath first. I will talk to you later."
The moment her words fell, an image of Bai Hanyun in Hanfu flashed in Feng Xiyan's mind.
Instantly, his ears and face turned red, and his body felt hot. He turned around, raised his head, and pinched his nose in panic.
Afraid that Bai Hanyun would discover what was on his mind, Feng Xiyan stammered, "T–then Xiyan won't disturb Fairy Bai. Xi–Xiyan will take his leave first!"
Before Bai Hanyun could respond, he rushed out of the commander's tent.
Carrying her clothes to the bedside table, Bai Hanyun glanced into the antique mirror's surface and noticed Feng Xiyan was gone.
Tilting her head slightly, she muttered, "He must be busy dealing with the aftermath of the war."
Recalling Feng Xiyan's pale face and dark circles, she sighed. "Being a great general isn't easy. He looks like he hasn't slept for days."
After a moment of silence, Bai Hanyun's eyes lit up. "I remember the restaurant near the shopping district sells medicinal cuisine. I can buy some for him later before going to the warehouse."
Having made up her mind, Bai Hanyun went to the bathroom while humming a song.
Meanwhile, outside the commander's tent, Feng Xiyan stood with his head tilted back, pinching his nose and staring at the morning sky. Closing his eyes, he chanted the Heart Sutra, trying to calm his thoughts.
Seeing this, the two soldiers guarding the tent exchanged looks, confusion written all over their faces.
After a moment of hesitation, one asked, "Great General, are you alright?"
Raising his left hand, Feng Xiyan replied, "This general is fine."
Hearing this, the soldiers exchanged glances again.
After a short silence, the same soldier said, "Great General, your nose is bleeding. Shall I call Physician Yan?"
The moment he asked this, Feng Xiyan quickly said, "No need!"
Startled by his sharp tone, the soldier immediately clasped his fists, knelt, and said, "This subordinate has overstepped. Great General, please punish me!"
Realizing his reaction had been too harsh, Feng Xiyan turned and helped the soldier to his feet. "Please rise. This general is not angry with you."
Still pinching his nose, he added, "Thank you for worrying about this general."
Seeing he wasn't angry, both soldiers smiled and replied in unison, "This is what we should do. It's our honor to serve you, Great General."
After apologizing, Feng Xiyan returned to the tent.
Still pinching his nose, he heard one soldier comment, "We should inform Physician Yan, so he can prescribe some cooling medicine for the Great General."
The other soldier nodded, then looked up at the morning sky and sighed. "The temperature keeps rising. I wonder when this long drought will end."
Hearing this, the first soldier also looked at the sky and sighed. "Let's visit Fairy Bai's temple after our shift ends. Maybe she will bestow rain upon us if she sees our sincerity."
"You are right," said the other.
While the soldiers made plans to visit the temple, Feng Xiyan wiped his face with a wet cloth inside the tent.
After cleaning away the blood, he sighed and muttered, "These past few days, I have been getting nosebleeds often. Maybe… I should visit Physician Yan and have him prescribe some medicine for me."
With that decision made, Feng Xiyan quickly changed into clean clothes and left for the military infirmary to find Yan Bingyang.
